Emre: The ballast for the Xenons are located underneath the headlight assembly, so the Xenon headlights extend about 2-3cm lower than the normal ones...

RB26 Parts for sale - SYD
Merli replied to Merli's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
No problems, I will COD to Perth. $300 inc. shipping ($50 deposit) The thing with COD is if the recipient doesn't pick up the package, I have to pay shipping charges BOTH WAYS, hence why I'm asking for a small deposit to cover this possibility. Cheers, Andrew. -
Roy, I agree. I took my GTR to Wakefield once, a week after I bought it before I realised just how much a gamble I was taking. RB26s aren't cheap to rebuild. My GTR survived that outing just fine. I also agree that it largely depends on the prior condition of the engine, and that oil starvation issues aren't solely dependant on taking the car to the track. There are a whole host of other factors that can contribute to the big bang that just so happens to occur under the strenuous conditions of racing your car. I had the unique opportunity to be sitting 1 metre away from Paul as his car let go on the warm up lap, and we all know how much love Paul pours into maintaining his car. Coupled with the fact that it was at the time a fresh model being the latest Series 3 R33 GTR, you can't chalk that one up to a "tired engine". As for the GTRs that attend UAS trackdays and survive just fine, I wonder how many of those have sump baffles installed? I do know however, that at the last UAS organised trackday, there were only 4 GTRs in attendance, and I know for a fact that 3 out of those 4 (Geoff Fear, Daniel Caprar, and Gary Burchett) have sump baffles. I'm unfamiliar with the 4th GTR owned by Joe Evans. Perhaps that's why those GTRs seem to survive UAS trackdays so easily?

As I said, everyone is entitled to his opinion... You can call it "once upon a time stories" if you want, but then again, you aren't putting your $6000+ engine on the line are you? I've heard one too many "stories" and seen the thick white smokescreen eminate from the exhaust and with my own two eyes and heard the swears and curses of the owner of the GTR whilst standing on the side of EC Raceway with the bonnet up and waiting a tow truck to disregard it and pretend it isn't a problem. But I'm not going to argue with you. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I respect that... especially one founded on 20 years of racing non-GTRs and years of "mechanicing"

Although oil coolers are an excellent addition to any car that will see spirited and extended driving periods, it will not by itself stop the oil starvation issues the RB26 has. It's due to the design of the RB26 sump that has to house the front differential. It causes the oil to move around too much under hard cornering loads, and when you're on a race track, and linking corners nicely with artful weight shifting from corner to corner, it's extremely possible that your oil will just slide from side to side of the sump and never give the oil pickup a chance to suck up any oil for a few seconds at a time. Again, this is really only an issue with the RB26's sump design, The RB20/RB25 doesn't suffer from this as they don't have a front diff to throw the design of the sump out of whack.

wanna know about TEIN suspension kit!
Merli replied to Aya's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have TEIN FLEX coilovers and EDFC installed on my R33 GTR. I love it. On the softest setting, it is no harder than standard R33 V-Spec suspension, yet on the hardest setting it's really only suitable for the smoothest roads and the race track. Even on the racetrack I wouldn't use the hardest settings (I'd use 4 front/5 rear on the EDFC - 0 hardest - 16 softest) It's actually user selectable 16 or 32 steps dampening adjustable, but I have it on 16 adjustment points as it's more than enough really. -
I realise that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that's a very expensive opinion you're waving around And considering you don't have an RB26 or any personal experience with one it's a little hard to understand why you're so steadfast and firm in your comments on the issue  I have been in the passenger seat of my friend's perfectly healthy 1997 Series 3 R33 GTR, where he's promptly blown the engine on THE WARM UP LAP, whilst using street tyres. That's right, he wasn't even on boost, and wasn't even able to complete a full warmup lap before suffering oil starvation from the oil swishing around from corner to corner. This isn't the only case of it happening either. Ask Duncan what happened to his GTR whilst his sump baffles were sitting in his boot awaiting installation. On the other hand, I have seen other GTRs complete many a trackday without suffering any adverse effects. So it's a gamble. Whether or not wyld1300 is willing to take this gamble with his car is upto him, but I certainly would NOT be trying to convince him that there is no danger when there most certaintly IS a chance of oil starvation and seized bottom end. I know I wouldn't want that on my shoulders if his RB26 were to let go and he was faced with a $5000 rebuild due to my advice

I think Racepace has a Nissan Consult Diagnostic tool that might help you?

Questions - My dyno results ok? How to improve?
Merli replied to Bill's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah Bill... You weren't being lied to. The stock GTS-t/GT-t ECU has a boost cut at 10psi-ish where it retards the timing to protect the engine as it thinks something is wrong and the car is overboosting. A PowerFC will give you a MUCH nicer power curve... Here's what happened to mine: BLUE LINE: Standard ECU with 0.9 bar boost PINK LINE: Power FC with 0.9 bar boost -

Hardcore! But where do you fit the twin 18" subs bro?? Emre: Engine is all bolted together, in the car and started up with standard injectors, old HKS F-ConV and standard AFMs.... Runs beautifully with zero leaks Will be calling the tuner tomorrow morning at 8am and see when we can slot her in for a run-in tune with the PowerFC Pro and then I'll start pounding out the kms as quickly as possible so we can get her back on the dyno and do some proper tuning I'm excited!

The more and more I see and hear about RacePace's handy work, the more I wish he'd move to NSW

Holy Jesus... Look at the size of that radiator!!!! I feel so.................. inadequate  Very nice welding on that intake pipe Is that oil catch can vented at all? What's with the catch can between the rocker covers, and the secondary one with the washer bottle?

You forget that I also had a GTS-t with next to nothing under 4000rpm I know exactly what you're talking about, and I agree that a powerband of 4000-8000rpm would make for a wonderful car. (also, I believe the RB26, even with it's longer stroke has a higher rev limit than the RB20 ) What my point was, bbenny kept going on about how he would prefer teh GT-RS upgrade, because he would get more power. Evidence: "but i just hate dishing out wads of money and not gaining a ton of power! " and "i would love to have a fully tunable management, but i want to feel more power! and i think that after spending about $2000 on management i will feel disapointed, where as spending that on turbo and injectors, with a new ecu chip i will get some decent power gains." I was merely pointing out the fact that these statements of "not gaining a ton of power" weren't correct, and that it might just be possible to get greater average power gains (area under the curve gains) through a customisable ECU, as opposed to the average power gained from upgrading from GT2530 -> GT-RS, as the GT2530 is already a great upgrade for the RB20 engine! At no time did I say that a GT-RS would give a bad powerband, or be a bad choice

J-Flash: Good mature response. Personally, I LOVE those DJs and would love to get my hands on a copy of those broadcasts... It saves me downloading them from TranceAddict , but you must understand where we're coming from. Selling recorded radio broadcasts of copyright material is illegal, and as such, we are just ensuring that such illegal sales are not tied with Skylines Australia. If however, you can show that you have prior permission from the artists to distribute copies of their work for profit, like you have claimed... I will personally buy one of each CD off you.
