  1. Duncan, the cost of engine plus swap is gonna cost me about 2.5 to 3 grand in japan, whereas it'll cost me a lot more in Australia, plus I'll have an engine I need to get rid of etc. Stagea engines aren't common here yet, and AWD RB25DET's didn't come in R33's. So I'll have to pay for shipping of a car AND and engine, which is a little redundant. StageZilla, that's interesting about the 4.3 ratio of non neo stageas, because the ratios I dug up were Neo6 turbo ratios. So technically the AWD GTS4 system shouldn't have any worries if I got a series 1 stagea engine swapped in. My other alternative would be to upgrade front and rear diffs to GTR items, which I don't really wanna do. Are there any other issues other than ECU with bolting an auto engine into a manual car? There's no secondary throttle for traction control or anything like that is there? As for ECU I was thinking about putting a Power FC in as I'm going to be bolting on some aftermarket turbos to it. Regular Power FC's support non-neo AWD RB25DET's right or do I need to get a special one?
  2. Hey guys, just doing some background research on AWD RB25DET engines. I've got a R32 GTS4 that I'm looking at getting converted to RB25DET in Japan. Parts aren't an issue, but I need to figure out what I need to do to make it all work. The most likely donor of the AWD RB25DET engine is a Stagea. Auto Stag non-neo engines are cheap as chips for low km ones in good condition. The R32 GTS4 is a manual (with an RB20DET). It has a front diff with a ratio of 4.3. GTR's have a ratio of 4.111. Auto Stagea's have a ratio of 4.083. Manual Stagea's have a ratio of 4.111. What will I need to do to make sure that the RB25DET out of an auto stag can be used in a manual R32 GTS4 as far as diff/gearbox is concerned?
  3. Dude its a scam. Move on. You pay $3700 to the escrow, you never hear from them again. The deposit IS the scam.
  4. greaaaat now Josie's a legitimate reason to tell me off for spending time with you on cars. hehe, congrats guys. PS: did you end up going through that Maori manhood initiation in the end with the tat's n shit? Or did you wimp out n get a cute butterfly on your ankle?
  5. the RB is dead... get over it. Skylines haven't always been AWD and RB powered, nor have they always come with ATTESSA and HICAS and all that other stuff. Evolution's a bitch.
  6. would be interesting to see pics and details of the car you're looking at buying... chances are its a car that was for sale a while ago.
  7. Not gutted j/k what sort of flanges do you need on the cat, or does it not matter? I have a 3 inch gutted cat with no flanges kicking around. You'd have to have it welded in or flanges welded on.
  8. This deal has trouble written all over it. Walk away before you lose money, time and hair. If it has been complied before tell him to provide you with the papers for the compliance BEFORE you purcase the car or give a deposit. Ring the compliance company, and the registration office for the state you're in and make sure you get in writing that everything is legitimate with the car. Why on earth would someone import a Skyline from Australia into Spain. Its far cheaper to get one out of the UK which you can catch a train to and drive your new Skyline back from. A couple of cars we brokered have ended up in western europe that way.
  9. Skyline Imports up in QLD should have the moulds to the R34 facelift kits.
  10. For first timers into the import community its probably best to buy a landed car. If you are a little daring and can place some trust in an import broker then you should import one from japan. You will save yourself markups in the process. It can be made a little easier if you have the car inspected while it is in Japan before you buy it. An option available through some import brokers
  11. ^^^ roflcopter! They should make alarm systems that trigger an auto inflateable version of it.
  12. Keep in mind a GTSt with GTR looking bits and an engine is still a GTSt when it come times to resell. An actual GTR will sell for more than a mock GTR (even if it is RWD but identical otherwise). You'd be better off selling the car to your brother, who from the sounds of it wants a GTSt, sell the GTS, add the money from that, add your savings for the conversion and you should be able to cover the costs for a GTR easily. This way you'll save your brother the cost of having an engine transplant, and both of you having cars off the road for extended periods.
  13. that's enough out of you caesar suck on a 48 hour ban and use the time to control your inner keyboard warrior.
  14. Albury's probably more lax on VIC car transfers because they can spit out the window and it'd land in Wondonga.
  15. there's a company in Japan that makes car covers in generic shapes, which is a soft cloth/velour material with a rubber layer on top. The rubber layer is actually inflatable, so you put the cover on and then blow up the rubber layer, giving you this awesome 5cm layer of air cushioning against projectiles. I'll see if I can dig it up for ya.
  16. Tell that to the RTA... they didn't want to acknowledge that the car passed compliance regulations if it wasn't signed for by an engineer listed in the following doc: http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/dow...s/vsi/vsi15.pdf Hell I'm a member of IE Aust as well, but rather than argue the matter it was easier for me to just renew my rego in VIC At least I didn't have to deal with NSW red tape and their collection of technicolour slips.
  17. Nismo released a limited run of R32 GTR's in March 1990. They came decked out in all sorts of Nismo goodies. prosman, so yours is just plain silver? Most GTSt's I've seen have silver badges with red and white paint in just the GT bits.
  18. meh! I tacked on the "re" in case drunkan didn't get what it meant.
  19. Different size yes, but not different colours, the colourings were retained between the series. Colour denomination differs from source to source, some think that the blue/white was used for passenger cars, and the red/white used for sports car. Some think that the blue/white was for N/A and the red/white was for turbo. Mine had gold badges because it was a limited edition. Nope, none of em had indicator repeaters on the fender. Almost all S2's in Australia are all old CPA scheme cars, which required the guard to be cut and an indicator to be inserted, as you couldn't see an amber indicator from all angles of view of the car. This isn't a requirement of 15 year old compliance, which is why most S1's you'll see in australia of the last couple of years don't have em. S1 was upto August 1991, and S2 was from then on.
  20. might stop over on my way to UPI
  21. "Type M" is what they call a package bundle for the car. It varied from year to year and dealer to dealer what you got as part of the "Type M" package. Usually it included shit like climate control, upgraded brakes, alloy wheels of some sort and a factory bodykit and spoiler. All models of Skylines had these packages... N/A's got Type S GTSt's got Type M 4 doors got Type X and Type J All the components you get in a Type M can be gotten as optional parts. Its was just cheaper to choose a package. Which is why sometimes you'll see a "Type M" bodykit on a non Type M car etc. So yeah, Type M's aren't a different car, they're the same car with a bunch of options as standard. All R32 GTSt's came with the same type of turbo and cams, there were no optional upgrades which were part of the Type M package. Their appearance might have varied between Series 1 and Series 2 R32's though.
  22. just some insight that might help: my cefiro was complianced in Vic, by a VICRoads recognised engineer. I went to transfer it to NSW as the car spends more time there than it does in VIC, and they wanted me to recompliance it using an engineer that the RTA recognised as the VIC one wasn't. And the changes required to be made to the car... NONE! Its just bureaucratic homo mumbo jumbo. I'd dare say the compliance was done by someone who isn't VICRoads approved and the certificate was issued in a state other than VIC, which is why it has to be recomplianced for rego.
  23. Dubai/UAE's been western tradition and practices tolerant for a while now. Hence why their tourism sector does so much better than the other middle eastern countries. Even when I stopped through Dubai a couple of years back I saw women not wearing burka's.
  24. you guys have to remember the new GT-R has nothing to do with V35's V35's came out in 2001, next GT-R is slated for release in 2007. I'm sure Nissan will have released the next Skyline by then. Assuming they do, it'd be pretty stupid to bring a car out that's only going to be available for a year at bes. And even if they did, people would be able to import V35's made from 2001 to 2005 due to the structure of SEVS laws. Lets see... imported secondhand vs "Infiniti" badging prices... they won't come out of that on top for sure.
  25. actually no, there's not much bracing around the R32 factory sunroof... different shape roof support bar, that's about it.
