Ok guys, I have come to a conclusion about the exhaust (after doing some really exhausting research! ). I have decided to stick with BATMBL r33 split dump/front pipe (s/steel) and the CATCO 3 inch large Cat - about $620. And for the Cat back I have decided to go with the APEX-I Bomber from BT-Revolution - about 750. (havent put the orders in yet though). Total comes to about $1370 before fitting. What do y'all think about this? Good combination?

Its like this: Toyota Supra SZ - non turbo 168kw, roughly 284 nM torque, 4sp auto or 5sp/6sp man, 3.0 straight 6 RZ - twin turbo 206kw, roughly 410 nM torque, 4sp auto/6spd man, 3.0 straight 6 with sequential twin turbo Nissan Skyline R33 GTS 140kw, about 240 nM torque, 4spd auto/5spd manual, 2.5 straight 6 GTS-T 187kw, about 295 nM torque, 4spd auto/5spd manual, 2.5 straight 6 Turbo GTR 206kw, about 375 nM torque, 5spd manual, 2.6 straight 6 twin turbo (Edited - i copied pasted before, was too lazy lol) Nissan Skyline R34 GTT 206kw, about 340 nM torque, 4spd auto/5spd manual, 2.5 straight 6 Turbo Ok, so the R33 gts/R34 gt is out - no turbo - but still looks great though. So its out of the others. for 27,000 u can get a r33 gtr from people like j-spec or all blitz etc. But you run the risk of getting a car that could be 10+ years old (if you are lucky, u can get a 96/97 gtr for that price). R33 GTS-T Series 2 are going for about 16 or 17 grand now - the other 10,000 could be used for mods if need be. R34s are going from 24k to over 30K. Supra non turbos - the 1998 models I have seen on prestigemotorsport for under 20,000 (importing straight from japan after u paid them 1000 buying fee). Twin turbos are going for about 23k (again from importing straight). When I was hunting for a suitable car - it was out of the NA supra, and the R33 GTS-T. Drove the supra first - very smooth, very fast, very responsive. Steering was precise. Gear changes were smooth. 2JZ performed flawlessly when going at high speeds. When you are in it, you feel like you are flying for the RAAF - thats the interior. Its very jet figher like. One thing I didnt like was the leatherette seats at the back, cos the cloth seats were really comfy - dont know why they put the leatherette in the back. Oh, and if u got friends - forget it, u can only carry one person (even though it says its a 2+2 seater). And if you want to get jiggy with your woman, better hope she drives a commodore or a falcon. Next I drove the skyline. First thing I noticed is the space - got friends - no problem, u can carry 4 of them (including u as the driver). Getting a bit steamy after a hot date - no problem, plenty of back seat space for you to do the whole 'titanic' style fogged up windows thang . The car I test drove, had very minor mods - pod and aftermarket dump/front pipe and cat - all i can say was "holy f**k!! Sh*t!!! F**k!!!!!!!". The rb25det loves to rev - and doesnt stop until you let go. Seats are very supportive - infact they are fantastic! Oh, and you got Hicas, which does come in handy from time to time (the supra doesnt). The other factor is that, the turbo makes a huge difference in the enjoyment of the car. And, pretty much, once u have been in a turbo or driven a turbo, u cant go back to a normal car. I expect, that after going for that drive in your friends R34 - you would not even consider the supra, unless you are going for the TT. My advice is to test drive the R33 series 2 GTS-T, R33 Series 2 GTR, and the R34 GTT. If you want to put mods, then R33 GTS-T might be the way to go. Chances are you will want to do mods within 5 or 6 months after you buy it - cos thats what im doing now . Also with insurance, I found that the insurance for a 1995 NA supra and a 1996 R33 Series 2 GTS-T is pretty much the same - the skyline is about $50 more for me. Well worth the extra $50, as you are literally paying hte same purchase price for both cars. Good luck

Skyline Resource With Specifications, Tuning Guides, And More
eMsta replied to Munna1's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Mad site! Helping me out at the moment, when im looking at the basic mods for my car. However, i must ask a question - is it more worth getting a pod filter or a FMIC for the maximum gains? I know getting both will def get me a canary (specially after i get the exhaust put on) Any suggestions? -
Sheesh, the amount of money that we can spend on our cars can get out of hand if we are not careful.....$15,000!! thats almost as much as my gts-t! As someone said, having 400bhp on the treads for a street car might be a bit too much (just my opinion). If its for drag or track, then perhaps yeah it might be a lot of fun......

Dont mean to hijack this thread - but since its on the topic of pod filters I thought I'd post a question here. Went to BT-revolution, motorware and re customs - all said that the type of Apex-i that I would be looking at woudl be the one that comes with the adapter etc. No one has the 022 Apex-i Pod that bolts straight on to the R33 series 2 skyline. I know people have said on here, that we can just buy the pod and fit it in (unless i read it wrong), but it seems that the only ones that I can get my hands on are the ones with the adapters (so im looking at around $230 at the min). Anyone want to clarify if this is right?

Nice car, whats the retail on one of those? The 3000gt was my first love (cos at the time pete sampras had one, and i was a fan of pete sampras) - this was before the supra, and before the skyline. Love it how its soo wide..... Great looking car bud!

nice- our bad rep continues.......

The gtr rims look mad on the r33, other wise go the volk. The car I was going to buy had the volk rims on it (black r33 as well), looked sweet....

friend of mine did his software eng degree at monash, worked here for a year as an IT consultant, now he is in japan working in IT, earning 4,000,000 yen, and learning japanese. he says the hardest part is making new friends (or friends around his age)...but the experience is worthwhile... Me personally - im happy sitting my ass in australia...

Jeez man....can you post the address so I dont end up buying that house......Im freaking scared of ghosts... Actually, your friends bedroom/bed shaking etc - I experienced that at grade 6 camp. Me and a roommate were woken up by the beds shaking - turned on our torches - but nothing.....it just stopped. No one else there. It was in Inverloch - at some camp site (just 2 buildings - with rooms). I think the only thing I would do is just move - I aint messing with no ghosts or spirits. As eddie murphy said in Delerious - "I really love this house, this is really nice..... (ghost whispers - "GET OUT") ....too bad we cant stay baby"

Not all are assholes...I think i mentioned this story before...I had a pleasant chat with a cop who pulled me over for a random inspection. He was quite suprised that my parents 1988 Camira was in such a good nick...quite a decent fella that cop. But bear in mind, they also have a job to do - so if I was doing something stupid like burning rubber like those guys in the "Probery" thread (the guy with his head and arm out of the calais), I would have expected that same cop to not have a smile but have a ticket made up for me...

The price we have to pay to drive awesome cars. Not a cheap hobby, but one thats soooo worth every dollar.....(just dont tell that to the missus)

My god...that is one sexy mofo of a GTR......
-
Hey! That looks sooo coool!!! Good work!!
-
That looks soo sexy - works well with a darker coloured car....
-
Hey bro, nice looking car - bad luck on the theft though - hope u find it soon and beat the d*ckheads to a pulp.....
-
Sheesh, If you can build that one, I gotta hand it to ya - I seen videos of the build - too complicated for a simpleton like me..... But I think if you order the kit, it comes with instructions (sorta like a model)...I remember, i think it was "top gear" had a bit on the kit cars.... Also if you look for old Motor/Wheels mags, Im pretty sure that they had a story about it a few years back....

bloody hell...i hate idiots who run reds thinking they the shit...... anyway, atleast u werent hurt - though i know i would feel the same if my cars life was taken away..... EDIT - actually, taxis do that all the freaking time!! Nearly happened to me and my bro when we were driving the 82 honda civic - then the f**ker just yelled at us, as if it was our fault...stupid fat motherf**ker!! And i remember his face, he looked somewhat like lindsay fox....

Hi All, Now that exams are over, I am going to be looking for a new turbo timer and a pod filter for my skyline (exhaust can come later - my research aint finished yet ). But I was wondering if the melbournites could tell me if there are any good shops to check out (excluding autobarn). I am thinkign of checking out bt-revolutions, and perhaps talking to the guys at RE customs. Any other places u guys can recommend? Thanks
