  1. Clear the footpaths! j/k
  2. I'm thinking of going to Willowbank Test and Tune 17th December... Maybe we could make something of it... Saves me talking to myself all night
  3. I've met up with a few of the guys from here and have had some great times. The GT cruise over Mt Nebo was awesome! Nope, I have a Splitfire gauge which although not the best in the world is far more accurate than the stock gauge... Stock boost is 7psi when using the standard ecu controlled bleed, which I don't. Stock wastegate actuates at 5psi so when my bleed is closed, the wastegate opens when the actuator sees 5psi... Apexi Super Ignition Timing Controller I believe... Allows you to modify the timing by + or - 15 degrees at 5 rpm ranges (800, 2400, 4000, 5600, 7200)... I can't help myself. I just bought one (like 2 mins ago) from these forums for $170! Not sure if I'll use it yet... I'll see how we go... I honestly don't know the absolute power handling ability of the autos. The 300ZXTT's use the same box and some of them are making heaps of power... I think 200rwkw is the figure most people quote tho... I don't think they go bang, rather it just reduces the life of the box by quite a bit... Some people have had the autos rebuilt with stronger bands and clutches but I think its quite expensive (>1K). I agree with loosing quality in the auto to manual conversion but I've seen a few done and they are OK... I won't be doing it though... I plan on getting mine pressure flushed with a new pan filter and some good synthetic Nissan approved fluid at some stage... I don't reckon I'll get much change from $350 tho... The fluid is around $70 for 4L (for the good stuff) and I think you need at least 7L Heat is the big killer of autos so as long as you make sure it locks up when your thrashing it and you don't pull mega burnouts in 1st, I think we will be OK...
  4. MattyB, I think they are usually called a swirl pot. I've never seen one with a breather. I think you would be better off swapping the tank return and feed around. ie the feed should be above the return. If you don't plumb the return from the engine into the swirl pot then your intank pump must be able to flow enough fuel to supply the high pressure pump (your 044). Not sure what the flow ratings are of the standard pump at low pressure? If you do plumb the return from the engine into the swirl pot (as opposed to back to the tank) then your fuel temperatures will rise if the swirl pot volume is not large enough... Using your pipe, if you make it at least 200mm high, you should have plenty of volume... Hope this helps...
  5. Cool, mine should be here within a fortnight too. Its my Xmas present to myself We will have to contact Gavin in the New Year and see what we can organise... We might start a thread re group tuning once the time gets closer? FMIC is on my list too but it won't be done for a while yet... My only worry at this stage is the power handling ability of the auto... I'm not sure how much they can take but I think 200kw would be getting close to the limits... I had mine dynoed recently as I wanted to be sure that the fuel delivery was OK and the speedo was still accurate after the wheels and tyres... I have an incabin bleed which stays closed pretty much all of the time. This equates to around 5psi on my boost gauge. This is how I dynoed the car. Best run was 138rwkw in shootout mode... It definately has more grunt when running 10psi but it goes hella rich around 4000 - 5000rpm which causes it to bog down abit before picking up again. I'm hoping to get this tuned out with the SAFCII. I think I'll use the 2 files in the SAFC for two boost settings. 1 for me, 1 for wifey... Her tune will be for 5psi (she assures me she doesn't touch the bleed ) and hopefully fairly economical. My tune will be for 9-10psi and ideally with fairly safe AFR's (between 12 - 12.6) If I start running out of fuel delivery then I'll hunt down a pressure reg and maybe a fuel pump... Or thats the plan anyway... I'm wondering ATM whether an SITC might be beneficial too?
  6. Pics of the SITC? Negotiable on price?
  7. Is this the one you let run out of oil? Or the one your putting a Microtech MTX8 on that you want for $250 cause its all you have? Or the one that money is no object and you want the best performance possible? Let us know. Were all interested...
  8. Carbon fibre driveshaft ala GT...
  9. Nope. Won't suit. Thanks for taking the time to look Japtaxi... Much appreciated...
  10. Yeah, I more than happy to have Gavin tune mine on Dysons dyno... I reckon there would be a gentlemans agreement there somewhere too! I chose the SAFC over the PFC as my car is auto Not interested in a manual conv ATM as the missus loves the auto and she drives it more than me. I also have minimal mods (exhaust, bleed, filter) so an SAFC should be OK... Not interested in a Wolf or Link as I don't reckon they are proven enough around here... Plus the rice! RSM on the dash, SAFCII on the dash. Ultimate rice value! I could of used a Unichip or similar but then I'm locked into a tuner and I can't use the monitor to check knock, throttle, etc... If i had a manual car it would be PFC all the way! It seems the PFC's don't output some of the signals required by the Auto ECU and this causes some problems with the shifting of the auto... Out of interest, Moanie is having some probs with her PFC and the ALSD ECU. I reckon it is a similar thing to the auto ECU prob so you might want to trial fit a PFC before you purchase Erin since you have ALSD too... Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I'd hate to see you buy one and have probs with it... HTH
  11. Me too! When do you reckon yours will arrive? It'll be interesting to compare what gains we get once they are both tuned. We might even be able to organise a group tune
  12. I just asked the same question re the dyno... I believe he uses Dyson Rotarys dyno but I could be wrong... I don't want to bag the workshop but I wouldn't let the guys at Dyson tune mine... Same way I wouldn't let Gavin tune my rotor if I had one... (Not that thats gunna happen) I've seen some of his (dysons) tunes and haven't been overly impressed... P.S This is like the biggest hijack I've been in ever... And it doesn't seem to be stopping either...
  13. I am bery bery sneaky... Did a search on all your posts to see where the EL's came from. Saw you had a set of MP33's for sale from ages ago during the search. Checked out the eBay sellers other items for sale and wadda ya know... hes selling some MP33's too! Seemed like it couldn't be coincedence but hey you know what they say... great minds... He's got them listed for $900 no reserve... Good price? Not much of a golfer myself... Stupid tiny ball makes me so cranky... If anyone can track me down a set like the ones on eBay... I'd be most thankful and interested...
  14. Wouldn't happen to have any Nissan relays lying around would ya? In particular, the brown 6 pin fog light / rear demister one... Numbers on the side are: 25230 C9963 12V 31130H Or anyone for that matter... Thanks
  15. MJ, So long as you can install the unit ok and set it up as per the instructions (ie cylinders, tps, afm settings) you will be fine. The SAFC will be effectively zeroed out and wont make any changes to the air flow signal. This is exactly what I intend on doing with mine until it goes on the dyno... NismoGirl: You wouldn't happen to know if Gavin tunes the SAFCII's would you? Approx price? He uses Dysons dyno doesn't he? Your gunna have to start compiling a price list for him... j/k
  16. Is that you selling them on eBay Scotty? The eBay seller has a set of Mizuno MP33's for sale just like you! Coincedence or not... I've placed a bid but was wondering if you can supply the kits uninstalled??? Hook me up!
  17. Quick insignificant one... In the user profile screen the following is stated: If you select your birthday then other forum members will be able to see your birthday on the forum calendar and in your profile. Adding your year of birth is also optional. If I try to add my year of birth without a month / day, it doesn't seem to stick. Month / day without year works fine. Month / day with year works fine.
  18. What could ya do? Keep following. One of yas has got to stop for fuel at some stage. People have this habit of being a big strong man when they are in their big metal cage but return to mini size once they get out... Call the cops. Make a complaint. They have to follow it up. Not that they do anything useful tho... I once followed a old 929 from before the Gateway Bridge to Studio Village (Movie World) after he tried to kill me and my family. He tried everything to get away from me including running a red light. He mouthed off to me, flipped the bird, etc.. at the beginning. When he pulled up at his house, we both got out and his first words to me were "Oh, I'm so sorry man". So I told him what kind of a f**kwit he was. Told his neighbours what kind of a f**kwit he was. Told his son in the car what kind of a f**kwit he was. He just kept saying he was sorry. Post the plate... We can all ring the cops and complain about the loser...
  19. /hijack off Sorry Nismo32R
  20. A searching we will go...
  21. Thanks dAVE. As I thought... Benefits of duel solenoid over single solenoid?
  22. Why do you say the SAFCII is hard to install knore? I've got one in the mail and I was intending on doing it myself (installing that is, I'll leave the tuning to the experts) You've got me all worried now...
  23. Probably doesn't help you but there is no way I would put a Microtech on a GTR... Hell, I wouldn't use one on my Corolla... You say price doesn't really matter... Motec or Autronic are among the worlds best ECUs... Also the worlds most expensive... But I would be looking for an Apexi Power FC... Reliable, proven and easy to install and tune...
  24. When I first got my Skyline, the horn button was acting up and there were some funny noises in there. Mine is a non airbag model. When I pulled the cover off the wheel, I discovered that the plastic insert for the centre of of the steering wheel was in about 4 pieces... I reckon the last jap driver was a cranky man and used to bash on the horn I just reassembled the part with some Araldite and had forgotten about it until now... HTH
  25. Thats a tiny battery for such a large CCA! Sounds good. Does it fit in the stock location ok? I've never heard of Delkor but what I don't know could fill a warehouse Just did a search and RC is known as residual charge in some circles and reserve capacity in others... Most 600+ CCA batteries have an RC of 130+... But most 600+ CCA batteries are way bigger than yours. I think that is why yours has a relatively low RC... Still plenty IMO... So are you gunna hook me up? Or at least tell us where you bought it from...
