Ive made a small change to the cruise time, we will now be leaving half an hour earlier. So details are now as follows; MEET AT: Gull Service Station, Monaro Highway in Hume. We will be leaving at 9:30 on the dot. Sorry if this has completely f*cked you up

You dont... you cannot currently legally import any skyline into the states (even Motorex cant do it anymore, as they were dodging paperwork). The only way you can get it in semi legally is to import it, hope you can get it off the docks without a bond release, and register it at your local DMV if youre in a gullible state (Nevada and Arizona ring a few bells here). Even if they do register it, the car is in violation of federal anti-smog laws and you risk it being confiscated. Check out the USA forums on Skylines Down Under, some of them there have legal skylines from way back when Motorex was legalising them, and theres even a guy there tyndago who did most of the work for Motorex on getting the cars legal. They will all tell you the same as above, it cant be done Sux but thats the way it is... EDIT: I do also believe you can import it for race use only for 12 months, after which time it needs to be destroyed or exported again. It cannot be driven on the streets if brought in for race use.

Dunno what the crap youre on about

Sif youd come anyway

shhh dont mention the kebab, people will think i have alterior motives Time to reminisce about my cruise down last year... There was scattered snow from about 5 minutes out of Canberra to about 5 minutes past Cooma, and the rest of the way to Perisher was completely white That was a really good dump of snow.
-
They -should- be fine unless it, (a) Rains and the temperature is in the minuses (B) It snows Long-range forecast is (or was) predicting a big dump of snow around the 19th. The ground isnt cold enough for the snow to stay (each season, you need a big dump of rain or snow to cool the ground, then a base can begin) so if it comes through it should be OK when we go up. I have no worries about the road up to Perisher, if it does snow though the road from Perisher to Charlottes Pass may be closed... guess theres only one way to find out Irregardless, entering the national park past Jindabyne where you have to pay the toll, the people there will advise us of road condition and if its unsafe to enter. But as said above, the roads should be a-ok

Me and Ewen are still going 100% (we wont bail out), still open to anyone who wants to come along

Im down for cruise... not a big dance dance doof doof fan, so bexta just doesnt do it for me. On that note though, I want to see you all at Candy Shop @ Kartel in Manuka saturday nite (end of shameless free promotion)

Mark wanted a VR4 but couldnt hack and afford it, so had to settle for the VR3 ... great car though

I got to do 7000rpm launches on the old drag strip and he let me tool around for a bit, so Im not complaining EDIT: Actually I now know why I had to do the extra testing. Because I had no tyre placard, DOTARS had on file under the old import scheme 16x7" wheels factory. Because mine are 17x9" and different offset front to rear (didnt match what DOTARS had on file a BNR32 -should- have), and I didnt have a placard, I had to prove they wernt detrimental to the handling of the car compared to the stockers. When you get them engineered to take over Dickson its basically the same as the compliance place putting the placard on mine, so yeah would probably only take a couple of minutes
-
My car had no tyre placard on it when I took it over Dickson and I got done for the same thing. You have two choices; 1. Get the tyre placard off the original compliancer (form item 104 or something) -OR- 2. Get the wheels engineered and the engineer will provide you with a tyre placard. They will -NOT- accept the Nissan placard as it is in Japanese and doesnt state it conforms with ADR's (I tried that). The downfall for you is, as your car wasnt brought in under SEVS or the old scheme, there is no compliancing documentation or company for your car. Which leaves you with one option... you need to get the wheels engineered. John Wilson did mine for $330.00, takes about 30 minutes and you just have to do some testing out at the old dragway (dodge some cones etc) and then affix the placard to your door jam, and take the engineering certificate to Dickson. It sux (I had to get the engineer, as once again Dickson Pits will -NOT- accept the Nissan placard, and the company that complianced my car doesnt exist anymore) but its the only way. On that note, all the things you mentioned above are pre-requisites for getting registration in the ACT. Your NSW engineering documents count for sweet f**k all here, and any ACT engineers you get to sign off a 15 yr import should provide you with the placard etc. Gotta love different rules for different states

Semi slicks dont grip in the wet due to tread block design (well they do, but not as good as normal "high performance" road tyres). A true semi slick (R compound) will be dead on you within 5000kms as well. Besides those two points, check out the suspension and handling section, lots of threads in there on tyres

Yah as Ewen said, not trying to sound like a bastard but, we were already going down that day and decided to open the offer to SAU. If you can make it, great should be fun... if you cant, that sux and maybe next time

Ahaha I want a dinosaur

Well I want to go for a cruise, and I know Ewen and Andrew (skygtrline) seem keen for a cruise... so Im goin for a cruise Anyone who wishes to come along is more than welcome. -- MEETING DETAILS -- WHEN: Saturday 21st May, 9:00AM for 9:30AM departure WHERE: Gull service station, Monaro Highway Hume. -- WHERE IM GOING -- Cruising down through Cooma and Jindabyne, then onto Alpine way up to Charlottes Pass via Perisher Blue. Yes it will be cold, yes if its raining it will be icy and I probably wont go. Other than that, roads should be fine, theyre good roads as well ("serviced" every year), nice and wide with open sweeping corners. Theres also BP Ultimate availible on both Cooma and Jindabyne for all your petrol supplies (albeit, usually 5 - 10c per litre more than what we pay here). Should get to Charlottes Pass by 12:30PM, dick around, frolick in the snow, then head back towards Jindabyne for some food and a drink/beer/whatever. If you want in, just say so here and will see you on the day EDIT: Theres also a $16 cost per vehicle to enter the national park. So its not "cheap" as compared to a small cruise to Orroral etc, but it is a fun drive, nice and scenic and long, and cold weather = cars like to boost more EDIT AGAIN: At this point in time, I have posted this on Shogun forums as well and would prefer it not to go onto any other forums. There -WILL- be police heading down to cooma at least, and possibly even up to Jindabyne (ski season starts 2 weeks after this cruise, so they will be upping their presence) and trying to avoid any unsocial behaviour some other unamed clubs have displayed in the past. The police down that way are a very friendly bunch, and will not have any problems with us as long as were not doing any obvious forms of dangerous driving (aka "FULLY SIK DORIFTO BRO~!")

Mine let go on 12psi boost... depends on how "fatigued" the bonding material is I guess... In Canberra the only place I would trust for a rebuild would be Cooma Diesel out in Fyshwick. When mine let go, they wanted roughly $2000 for a rebuild as mentioned above ($960 per turbo I think it was). Decided to spend some extra cash and get HKS GT2530's, never looked back since

Well the package above only costs in transport and accomodation... lift ticket and ski hire are on top (obviously if you got your own stuff, you dont need to hire). Plusses are you dont have to worry bout driving/parking/chains etc.
