  1. Not 100% true, there is a certain point where the force down is not enough to generate traction across a wide tyre, this was what a mate who runs an open wheeler was explaining to me. His open wheeler for example with no downforce would be better on narrower tyres.. Happy to be told otherwise, but this bloke is pretty cluey
  2. I know people love the idea of wider is better, but there is a point on a track where the tyre simply gets too wide to work properly. So with an an R32, in a very moderate state of tune (300awkw will be all I chase) and not a track weapon, Just a weekend warrior here and there, would 9.5 inch be getting too wide? Then what size tyre (17" wheels)
  3. You can use low beam during the day, but not fog lights because there for use in the fog... Just like you can't use highbeam during the day
  4. Take it that's the m-spec one that is sold?
  5. I am not going to pretend to have any experience driving any Ferrari, but I am yet to see/read a test of an F40 that has said anything other than they are one of the greatest drivers cars of all time. As for the Carbon chassis, bare in mind the first carbon tub in F1 had only happened 5 years prior to the F40, and would not be part of a road car for another 5 years, even then in the massively expensive/unsuccesful Mclaren F1 (Yes it has it's own place in history, and it took a W16 with 4 turbos to beat it). To me the R33 GTR is a better car than the R32 in MANY ways, but the fact that the R32 is a little more of a mongrel is part of the appeal (and reason I bought it). The F40 takes this much further, it is badly built, it is uncomfortable, but I get the impression when you get it right there is nothing comes close. Porkas to me are just proof that engineers can overcome physics, and that Ze Germans are too stubborn to just fix the problem. That's my opinion..
  6. That was more the point I was trying to make, it's good to see someone buying a cheap GTR, and not having a whinge because they can't wind 20psi and do skids all day.
  7. Not being an arsehole, but that's why you don't buy cheap GTRs.. At least you knew from the get go you would have to rebuild it, and accepted that fact. I remember seeing that car advertised, all the best with it, will look forward to the updates!!
  8. I have found that if I do put v-power in the Gtr feels a little docile, but I have also since found that the exhaust cam was buggered and timing was all over the place.. The clincher for me was a mates 180, he is running about 280rwkw on standard cams and valve train, and is one of those freaky natural mechanics who just gets cars, he has found that v-power tends to foul plugs more than anything else, there were 1 or 2 other issues, but I am not sure what they were, so I won't make claims. It is always ultimate for me
  9. F40 was never about having brains, it is unashamedly about a heap of horsepower NO weight, and it's upto you to stay out of the scenery. To me it is the fact that it's objective was so raw, and so perfectly executed. "Whats that you want aircon?" well slide this bit of lexan back... Steering too heavy? Do weights. Passenger wants to converse while driving? Well here's your excuse to leave the bitch on the side of the road... I would sell my left nut, and any other body part for an F40.
  10. There is nothing comes close the F40
  11. No way is the F40 possibly the worlds coolest car....
  12. Great price for a very neat car, Goodluck with the sale!!
  13. Gone the trouble of posting two different ads for the same thing, in the same section, but not looking for a for sale section?
  14. If you are looking at something practical the Subie is the only one that you can buy in a wagon and not look/feel like a twat...
  15. Personally I would go the Urabus, Honda, Camry. How about Mazda 6? For me it would come in ahead of the Camry. Had a very old liberty, rallied an RS impreza, and spent a lot of time driving a Forester. Subarus drive really well, and interior in the model pictured is brilliant. They will probably be abit heavier on fuel than the rest though. I would stay at least the width of Germany away from BMs (personal opinion) but that is based on all the horror stories
  16. Too many factors... In my Pootrol, I change up at about 1500-4000, depending on how much noise I want to make, (speed is not a factor, cause it is leaisurely no matter what revs..) In the GTR, between 2000-8000, depending on a lot of factors
  17. Head gasket upgrade is big dollars, black smoke when your having a go is to be expected with an RB, oil smoke on a gear change is weird though.. Not a mechanic by any means, but possibly damaged headgasket letting oil in some how on lift off?? Bit strange
  18. Everyone in the world knows that every car that isn't a GTR may as well have not been built, and that everyone who doesn't like GTRs for track days is an idiot
  19. You will always get oil build up in the inlet, the way that bits of turbo end up in the motor is that the exhaust turbine explodes, and bits go back UP the exhaust manifold, but this is only a prob with ceramic turbos. Is the white smoke only on gear changes? 22psi is a lot of boost for a stock headgasket...
  20. Certainly not all silver under the bonnet, check the immaculate one for sale on the forum is still black under the bonnet. This is a great chance for someone to restore this thing and get a bargain.. Needing a full respray after hitting a cat though... Would be blown away if the front lip needed replacing..
