  1. nothing new. I deployed over 5000+ similar units to HK police about 5 years ago which were a handhold unit mounted on a tripod of the car with radar and camera in one unit. This was 5 years ago, so they should be much better now and probably are rolling video with frame capture like most of the newer fixed cameras. no doubt they use a wireless backhaul and leave no images on the unit - thats what i would do. just don't speed, pretty simple.
  2. I agree its really good, I have been there for over 5 years - but its not the best. And I'm over the whole pre-order as I have other places which are just as good with no pre-order and minus the other dishes which are basically fillers. Ying Thai is good. I remember the grand opening so many years ago back in the days.
  3. I will be at the final. I just got my box confirmed - yay.
  4. happens there all the time, I walk from that intersection to southbank several times a day from one office to the next. its a 50 zone all through the city - and particularly there.
  5. your advice is not bad overall. do it every 5000km under normal driving conditions and Id say a 30wt would be just spot on for normal driving. I think the castrol edge is a bit crap, but for 5000 OCIs then its probably not going to be all that bad. There are some other autobahn options that are abut the same price that I would choose over that.
  6. There is no single best thai place as the good ones have approx 1-2 special dishes in Melbourne that you go for. However one of the all round best places for weekend lunch is Krua Thai on Bridge Road, Ying Thai at the end of Victoria near punt or if you want to go a bit spesh you roll up the road on the weekend an got o Ing Doi for some special boat noodles...only on weekends. My friends own Blossom Thai on toorack road near chapel, thats a pretty good spot for the general aussie with basic tastes I used to visit there a lot. If you want to doubt me on Thai...what language do you think my name is in? If you want steak I only go to Rockpool, The Point or Valdos. I frequent Rockpool both melb and Sydney often (like last night and lunch on friday). But its not cheap...but quality never is. Valados is iconic and great for the perfect steak. Squires Loft is good also, but a secondary place for me. You want chinese again it depends on what you want. In the CBD area you can go to Bamboo House for fairly good peeking duck - until you got o places that require pre-order which tend to be better. Then if u want Yum Cha there is a place in Burwood (which is currently closed for renovations) which we go to quite often...I've founf it to be one of the better places and i have been having the old Dim Sum for appox 10 years around Melbourne and the world, so I feel i have some insight into these places. As for Pacific House - yeah this gets a A+ from me as I have got take aways duck from there many times...however I usually get mine form Box Hill cos its closer. The chain of Kim Chi Korean BBQ rest. are quite good, i usually go to the one in Box Hill as its pretty good, however next door they have a all you can eat BBQ joint which is pretty good, but I dont like the enviroment and if I'm wearing a suit...it needs to be dry cleaned after you go there. The best Japanese food is in Glenferrie - Samurai. Very cheap, small but pretty much the best in Melb. And I have been everywhere and I keep going back. However if you want to book a great place there is Shira Nui in glen waverly, renowned to be the best jap joint - awsome sushi. Finally I have been going to Blue Chillie on Brunswick rd for some Malaysian...this place is actually quite, or the famous Penang on Burwood rd Glenferrie. However as always you need to know what is special at each restaurant - there always something that is special, trick is finding out what it is...I eat out 10 or so times a week which probably doesnt include breakfest - generally for work and other business meetings...it tends to be what i do. When you ready we can start to talk Desert
  7. I was there last week for 2 days. might be back next week if ur still about - god i'm over flying. have fun guys, where are u staying btw?
  8. I run them in my other sports car, seem ok. no dust and seem to grip up when cold.
  9. just an update after a good drive on these ss595 federal tyres. I did approx 10 full throttle lanuches at a test location that I always use. Only some minor slipping close to redline from a slow rolling start. 2nd holds perfect at full boost/throttle and accelerates like a mofo now. So if other tyres in the same bracket grip better then thats fine, but these seems really good for the dollar. The suporting mods include 270 kw, the SK suspension setup with camber setup to : rear – 1.2 (both sides) as a blend for corner and straight line which seems about right now. So bottom line is they come recommended for street. Next is some track time to see how they hold up in terms of wear and grip over 3-4 hot laps for a street tyre.
  10. I put in a set of Project Mu Max 500's on the 33 gtst and they have been pretty good IMO. The rest of my setup are DBA4000 series rotor, braidied lines and dot 5 fluid which standard calipers. I did a good 5-6 hot laps at calder which no fade wotsoever....so was quite happy! Peddal feel was a bit different to the Ultimates I ran before (less confidence), however they certainly hold up much better over more laps - although I did the rotors and pads at the same time so probbaly the combo of both that helped.
  11. AFter reading a fair bit I bought a set of the Federal SS 595s the other day. Really well priced so I thought I would try them out. Mine are the ZRs so i'm not sure about all the debate about not being able to get them. A few issues I read about but have since confirmed were not accurate based on my setup : 1. noise, well I couldnt hear any and 2. grip seem a lot better than everyone said. I run a 270rwkw setup that has some good torque through the mid range at about 4000rpm which is where I can loose traction easily...already these are holding up well through 1st and 2nd under full throttle - not ever going to hold 100% I bought a set of 18x265x35 (rear) and 18x235x40 (front) cost appox $800 for the set which is great value, then took them to a fitting place who charged by 60 bucks for install. all up its was just under $900 fitted. In addition they feel good to drive on under normal conditions, not sure if you describe it as noise, but they seem soft on the road and make limited noise as mentioned before I could instantly notice a difference. I go to regular track runs, so i will see how they hold up for after 3-4 or so hot laps. I should get some R specs but the wife has got my frozen on funds for my car so I had to comprimise with 70% street and a 30% track tyre...we will se how it holds up.
  12. Every dodgy transaction I have had through paypal has been refunded almost straight away when buying from ebay...not many however.
  13. 300kw is one thing, having a good capable car is another. I would be looking at an all round packgage of power, suspension and looks for a great street car. I car making 230kw with the goods in the other departments may be a better all round car, the kw figure is a bit of a wank to you mates.
  14. will be there, got some new semis to get used to.
  15. apart from the obvious issues with their tests...in 47 pages, this has been covered many times.
  16. saffs ner car is horn. I like.
  17. lol that was my first thought...
  18. I would buy it now, but the wife wants a new house in Glenferrie in 1-2 months...so current car it will be!
  19. I'm trying to get ready, waiting on some tyres if I get back and can get them on my car is about right.
  20. +1 Just wacked in som Project Mu pads and they were bad, bit the bed in process but its was still a bit shit. One day at Calder = gold! Cheers KJ
