  1. Thanks for sharing!
  2. 1976 Pea-green mini clubman estate, automatic! More rust than metal. I had it for 2 weeks then wrote if off in a head on collision with a vauxhaul cavalier...
  3. I saw that article too - they even offer "authentic" TFATF stickers! But, there's nothing new about it, the americans have been slapping flames down the sides of cars for generations! Maybe the designs have changed, but the mod itself is one of the oldest:D it's also interesting the way TFATF get's blamed for "creating" a new wave of ricers - as I seem to recall reading, before the movie went into production they did a casting call for cars to be used as "extras". So it is, that with the exception of the main group, almost all of the cars seen in the movie were already modified by their owners. The producers didn't have them "rice up" the cars for the movie...
  4. and the British usually call 'em Exhaust manifold and downpipes...
  5. I know what you mean about "American Style Japanese Rice" taking off here, especially since the release of TFAF - but hey, as far as car's are concerned: each to their own! If everyone had the same style, things would be kinda boring! There is a lowrider scene here too - there's a guy in my area drives a metallic burgundy civic, gold wire wheels, full hydraulics and wite leather interior - he can regularly be seen driving around with the ass end of the car scraping the ground and the front pointing towards the sky, almost as if ready for take off! :)
  6. I think the blocks are the same on the RB25 / RB25DET - most of the differences are in the head / cams etc...anyone else confirm?
  7. Rezz - thanks for the info about the floorstay! To be honest I wasn't that bothered about the GTV being N/A. It goes pretty well, it was the right price (for my budget at the time) and more importantly the right color (bayside blue)...so I went for it. Besides, it's only a temporary car till I can get my hands on a R34 GTR in the same color:) I hope!
  8. Here's a link to Nissan's own page regarding the GTV. The GTV is basically a R34 GTT, minus the turbo (RB25DE instead of the RB25DET). The GTV has GTT brakes, suspension, HICAS, running gear, etc etc and apparently was the first non-GTR R34 to be made available in Bayside Blue (TV2). Following the release of the GTV, Nissan extended Bayside Blue as a color option on the entire R34 range... Out of curiousity - Nissan specs mention the GTV has the GTT's "Turbo Floor Stay" Anyone have any idea what the hell that is?
  9. I had a similar problem happen on my R33 - after much worry it turned out to be a faulty pressure sensor guage - apparently a common fault on RB engines...
  10. What series of Skyline were you thinking of getting? R32, R33 or R34? Here's some pics of my R34 GTV.
  11. Greedy = Greddy?
  12. I will definitely be there - especially since I doubt I'll be able to make this November's NISMO festival since they moved it to Okayama!
  13. It sounds like one of your drive belts is slipping...
  14. I'm pretty sure glowing extractors is normal after a spirited run - have you seen this mpeg of a run on RH9.com.au? Just a quick dyno run and the extractors were glowing like a xmas tree on news years eve! RH9
  15. Depends on the model - R33 GTS (RB20E engine) or the R33 GTS25 (RB25DE). I'd imagine the silvia would be slightly quicker due to it's weight...
  16. Just thought I'd point out - look at the photos, the one of the instrument cluster shows the car at idle and the oil pressure at zero! Could be a lot of reasons, faulty guage for example, all could be signs of an engine not in the best of health...
  17. Almost all of the major tuners have stores or garages in the Tokyo area, so that is a good place to start. If you want to get an idea of the Japanese car scene, perhaps the best place to go would be the Daikoku Parking area on the waterfront in the Tokyo/Yokohama bay area. There is always plenty of modded cars (of all kinds) there, and it's a meeting place for many many clubs - one of the larger Skyline clubs ( S.O.E. ) meet there every 4th Saturday night. Here's an idea of what to expect: The Ferrari club. Toyota Altezza's
  18. Hmmm... To be honest, I'm not sure that is such a great location. OK, in terms of cold air reaching the pod, that location is going to be quite effective, but the downside is the pod is exposed to all kinds of sh!t, rain, mud, dust, stones etc - I wonder how much performance you will lose on a rainy day after you've driven thru a puddle and the filter is soaked? Perhaps put some gauze or something around the pod to try and limit the amount of contamination?
  19. The usual approach - exhaust, filter, intercooler, cams, etc can be expensive. How's about this as a way to boost your cars performance... :) No more BHP, it's Bhp - Brake Hamster Power!
  20. I think you mean this
  21. I'm pretty sure the R33's do not use VVT at all - only the R34's with their Neo Strait 6 Engines have VVT AFAIK. However, several people have said that the R33 engines do have a simple version of VVT, but I cannot confirm this...
  22. I'm not sure if the same applies in Aus, but in England a car that has many motorway miles is considered a better buy than a car with equivalent miles done around town - the thinking being town driving with constant start/accel/brake/stop wears out components quicker than a steady cruise at a fixed speed...
  23. This kinda topic has been covered before, most recently here

  25. Could also be caused by your aircon compressor pump engaging - if you had the AC switched on that is!
