daisu replied to esky_mad's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Well, when you update, if it is going to be separated..... as per my PM I'm keen for the clutch/flywheel and if your interior is grey, I'd like manual gear lever surround/leather boot, and also passenger side aircon vent -

Is the center bearing in the rear half of the tailshaft or the front half? (behind or infront of the unijoint) If it is in the front half, The front half is similar to the R32 tailshaft get yourself an R32 manual tailshaft, disassemble the front from the rear. Disassemble your cefiro tailshaft in the same manner. Notice that the flange that joins the two halves is larger on the R32 tailshaft, hence incompatible. Use a rattle gun to remove the nut that is securing the flange to tailshaft, and swap the flange from your cefiro half onto the R32 half. Now the R32 front half will bolt up to your cefiro rear half, using the cefiro flanges. You will need to have the tailshaft balanced. This is how I did my tailshaft when I did my manual conversion. If the bearing is on the rear half of the tailshaft, get yourself an auto tailshaft (may be easier to find than a manual version) remove the front half from the rear half, do the same to your current tailshaft. Swap rear halves over. Hope that the replacement tailshaft has a good bearing, you will also need to get this balanced. Just had a look in nissan FAST, you can get a new bearing kit from them, have no idea about price but you could ring them up and ask. the part code is 37521K and part number is 37521-85L26- description is BEARING KIT-CENTER

ShotGUN! MINE! You have PM

Is that the standard head unit, did it have remote controls on the steering wheel similar to what the R32 has?

If you want 5 stud hubs, use s14/15 at the front, and R32/33 at the rear. Brakes, have to use skyline brakes on the rear due to the handbrake setup. Best to use skyline or Z32 brakes upfront because they are alloy (as opposed to the S14/15 cast iron). If I were you I'd be going with R33 brakes. I'm running R33 brakes on my ceffy but still 4 stud, just redrilled the rotors.

Do these mount to the top of the rear window or at the bottom? I seem to remember seeing them at the bottom, but this is where the window wiper motor is on my car.

A31 Cefiro And Y31 Cima Just Arrived For Wrecking!

I'm pretty sure rack boots are a universal item you can get from most automotive places, as are split pins for ball joints. -
If it is just the plug that is different between the cefiro and R32 afm, you can move the connector from your old AFM onto an R32 AFM??

I was on the understanding that dielectric grease was non conductive, but since it is soo thin it does not prevent contact between the two conductive surfaces, instead it provides a moisture barrier.

According to the substitute parts list guide, R32 and VL commodore

R32 4 Door Rb26 Conversion Questions
daisu replied to unique1's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
2 door and 4 door are same length tailshaft, only cefiro/laurel have longer tailshaft -
Man, is your phone turned off, I've been trying to call you all afternoon, I'm quite eager to buy this. When you say it's not registered, do you mean that it just doesn't come with registration, or have you already unregistered it and surrendered the plates? Basically I want to know if I'd be able to drive the car home then give you a lift back to yours (with you taking the plates with you). Obviously I'd have to bring some tyres on rims with me. Call me 0432 848 627 - Luke

lol for digging up old threads, I would have said that the fog light bulbs are probably blown, or bad terminal connection on the back of the bulb.

I think it's just that the factory master cylinder isn't big enough to supply the larger calipers.

Well they realise that the better cars are coming from overseas, they just haven't figured out which country makes the good cars yet.

Ceffy Or Lancer Glxi Considering The Circumstances
daisu replied to jakez88's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Well what was wrong with the R32? Was it just general maintenance or was it expensive things that were breaking? Any car is going to have regular maintenance costs and occasional expensive costs, regardless of its age. -
On the rear there are alot of options, if you can access a complete assembled sub frame it is pretty simple to swap the whole thing. Just a matter of undoing the tailshaft, hydraulic brake line, handbrake cables and the bottom bolt on the rear strut. Subframe is held in with 4 bolts. Though depending on whats available and prices, all you really need is the bearing/5stud hub, and the calipers/rotors. Only difference is the skylines run a different bolt pattern between the diff and axles(driveshafts)

Ceffy Or Lancer Glxi Considering The Circumstances

If you want daily driver convenience, and awesome pimp factor, get a C33 laurel. It's the same as a cefiro, but different body panels and runs pillarless doors, looks hot. -
On the front you need to use the S14 complete assembly (spindle aka hub carrier aka upright). The cefiro lower control arm won't fit, and the S14 lower control arm increases your track/negative camber. You can either use the S14 control arm if you want, or use the balljoints from the S14 control arms in your A31 control arms. On the rear, it is as simple as removing just the hub/bearing part and swapping for a 5 stud version. The e-brake on the cefiro is the same as the skyline. Though you will have to cut and/or bend the backing plate to allow larger discs to fit, so it may just be easier to swap out the whole complete rear hub assembly (upright/backing plate/etc). If you upgrade the brakes remember to upgrade the brake master cylinder, the R32 GTST is a good choice. As for the RB25, if they are cheap then it would definitely be worth dropping it and the gearbox into your cefiro. The RB20 gearbox will work with the 25, but the Rb25 gearbox is stronger. Have to do a few things like shorten the tailshaft etc.
