Hi, I was reading through some of the other exhaust threads and thought I would check my own fujitsubo catback exhaust on my R34 GTT. It seems I have one too!! Looks to run for about 4-6 inches from where the rear of the muffler starts and then after that it just looks like normal 3" muffler honeycomb sidewalls. The restriction is quite severe and looks to be around 2.5". Boostn0199 mentions a bit in this thread with a few pics: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/339046-opinion-on-kakimoto-regu-06/page__hl__silencer+weld__st__20 He mentions the use of a mini air grinder. I have never seen one of those nor do I have access to one. Any ideas on how to remove it? It looks terribly restrictive. Pics below are looking into the tip of the exhaust.

Anyone Tried E85 With A Gtrs On Their Rb25 ?
Harey replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yes and then how does this change with E85 or other higher octane fuels? Is it not making more power out of the same amount of air? Or is it just enabling your engine to work the turbo harder without experiencing detonation? My head is not working too well this afternoon! -

Yeah I mentioned about the stock turbo on E85 a while back too and got shut down! -

So do we know the pressures in the manifold are dangerous using a 250rwkw turbo on 98 to make 270-280 on E85? I am running a very responsive hypergear turbo that makes ~250rwkw as well. My plan was to keep the responsiveness and add some more mid and top range by adding E85. Surely if I was to keep boost around 18psi it would be ok. Whats the difference with SimonR32 running 25psi with a much larger turbo with an ethanol blend fuel?? Surely he would have quite high manifold pressures as well?? Is it the EGT's or the manifold pressure that we are mainly concerned with? -
It sounds to me like the turbo you have blown is not standard. Never heard of anyone doing all those mods plus injectors and Z32 AFM for a standard turbo on 10psi?? Maybe it was a hiflow already? Post up some pics of it.

Drop your blown into a turbo place like Hypergear and get them to highflow it. That will get you 240-250rwkw with supporting mods and will bolt straight up to everything and appear standard for the cops.

R34 Gtt Wrecking
Harey replied to Wilkins026's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Do you have the plastic lining that runs from underneath the front bar to half way along the front wheel arches? Also am interested in the pipe that goes from the turbo outlet towards the intercooler. Is about 20-30cm long with 2 bends in it. Also, the stereo surround if yours is black as well and in excellent condition. -
Same recommendation get Tao from hypergear to make you one up in 0.63. I think 280rwkw is too high though for a 2871 core. Somewhere in the 250-260 would be all you will get. Some of the figures floating around have correction factors applied.

As scott said get Tao to make you an exhaust housing up that has the same 6 bolt nissan rear. That way it will bolt straight up. I havent seen any problems with Tao's housings plus you can prob interchange between 0.63 and 0.82 for not too much extra changeover if you decide to change. I would stick with his 0.63 housing to start with. The 0.82 housing is a large housing and you will definitely loose response.

Yeah 6kw at a ~250kw level, but obviously will get greater at higher power levels. I have heard ~10kw at 270kw which yes it not massive but a decent gain.
-
Yes I know, it was meant to poke fun at having the same turbos on a 6+L engine to a 2.6L Especially to only make high 300s!

With the R34 GTT and R33 GTS-T's you need to replace the rubber hose between the airbox and the front of the turbo. This will suck shut over around 230rwkw and limit power greatly. With a metal custom pipe the factory airbox is not a bad thing, I know of people making 250rwkw on 98 fuel and 280rwkw on E85 with a stock airbox but metal pipe. The only problem is that the metal pipe has to custom and is quite a tricky angle. Because it is a fixed airbox it has to fit in the right spot at the right angle. Its different to a pod as obviously it can sit anywhere. Another guy on here has the top half of an airbox and snorkel and a pod sitting underneath it. Are you looking at it from a looking standard for cops point of view or dont care? I would only go to the effort if your worried about cops. Otherwise I think its a lot of effort. I have heard of people saying 10rwkw loss around 280rwkw but dont have proof.

Owner of dynomotive runs twin GT3071s on his built 6+L LS1 1 tonner, runs 9s from memory hahaha

Come on mate your talking about getting 2 turbos capable of 450-500rwkw setup and you cant be bothered having a 2 second look at hks site for the different sizes. Either do some serious research or just walk into a quality performance joint and tell them how much power you want and see if you can afford it. The HKS GTRS makes about 250rwkw on a well setup RB25. The HKS 2835 Pro S makes about 270rwkw on a well setup RB25. So yes they are bigger. They will be one of the laggiest ways to make high 300's.

As everyone has said 2 very different cars for different purposes. Each have their own merit.

Here here!!! +1

Are you sure 340rwkw dead standard?? I read about one that had the boost turned up and tuned making that power. I know they are bloody impressive but I dont think 340rwkw dead standard.
-
What boost pressure does Simon R32 run on his green car with Kando turbo 25psi or something?? I run 20psi in mid range and drops to 16psi.
-
Yup forgot the whole 4 cylinder thing! Thought this was a skyline forum Dave Chappelle: I smoke rocks!!

Interesting review. I do think the stock GTR is way undertuned. Needs some steel wheeled turbos, more boost and a tune. Should have come out of the factory like that, then you could do some better comparisons. If he didnt know that when he bought the GTR then he doesnt deserve one anyway!

Ah yup woops!

Find out from your tuner what duty cycle your injectors are running at, that will tell you. Or get a diagnostic cable and install nistune and find out for yourself. I think you will be fine running straight E85 on 600cc injectors!! Joeyjoey was running 300rwkw on E85 with 550cc injectors. That seems to be one of outliers but still I cant see why 600cc injectors couldnt run 240-250rwkw on E85??
