  1. Thanks guys. The AFM is not maxxing out voltage wise, I mean airflow wise. Surely it is a restriction in the intake and also means you can only run a 3" intake. So that intake system must have a power limit. So sounds fine up to 300rwkw but I havent heard of many above this. Doesnt sound like the immediate issue then.
  2. Hi All, I currently have a Z32 AFM in the standard location (in the intake, in front of the turbo) with 3" metal piping and a pod filter. I cannot seem to make more than 280rwkw no matter if I run more boost etc on 98 fuel. I am being told to move the AFM to the cooler piping and then either keep the 3" metal intake or upgrade to a 4" intake. What is the most power have people made leaving the AFM in the intake system of the turbo?
  3. Yeah I get what your saying and not saying IWGs cant make big power but doesnt external gate get rid of a lot of heat and flow. Yeah if the dump pipe behind the IWG is big enough and its a good design then yeah it can equal an EWG. With these comparisons you are comparing the same size dump pipe plus the external wastegate would equate to better exhaust flow for the Garrets. Yes not a lot but 5-10kw in this comparison would be a significant difference.
  4. Plus a hi flow cat and dump pipe most likely. Chances are the fuel pump is standard. My standard fuel pump was fine even after it was tuned at 190rwkw. The R34 pumps seem to be pretty good and enough for the standard turbo.
  5. looks like you definitely have a catback exhaust (rear part). take a photo of the exhaust underneath the car, all the way so we can see how much of the exhaust needs to be done. I did the full exhaust, intercooler and nistune first and made 190rwkw. This was a great setup. You might be happy here, well at least for a while. Then look at the next step.
  6. Isnt that comparison a bit unfair for the Borg Warner EFR turbos being Internally Wastegated compared to the Garret's which are Externally Wastegated? I thought external wastegate made more power at the same boost level in most cases. It seems like they went to a great effort for these tests, I wonder why they didnt choose an IWG Garret to make the comparison fairer?
  7. How is the T67 the answer to the HKS 2835? I thought they would be in different categories. The dynosheets in post #154 show that it is less responsive than a 3076. The 2835 is more responsive than a 3076 again. In the HKS range I would equate it closer to a 3037. 2835 full boost ~3500rpm 3076 full boost ~3800-4000rpm T67 full boost 4200-4400rpm
  8. I notice you run a Z32 AFM in the cooler piping, do you run a 4" intake off the T67?
  9. The question to ask yourself is would the same response be ok if it made a heap of power? If yes then turn it up, if no then yeah change the turbo. Cam gear will get some more response but not huge amounts. If you have a T04Z all installed and working well then I think there has to be big gain to changing things. After all most of these cars are to have some fun we are not racing for pink slips... well at least im not hahaha
  10. Ah bummer! I was at the Hypergear workshop hanging out and solving my boost dropping issue woohoo!
  11. I can confirm this one, saw it on sunday: Campbellfield, 1802-1808 Hume Highway corner Barrys Road
  12. Built engine yet only 300rwkw with a T04Z on 17psi?? Something sounds wrong? The advice from this forum will be dont worry about mismatched turbos by changing housings just get an appropriately sized turbo
  13. Yeah just the thread starter said he wanted the 0.82 IW exhaust housing.
  14. Did you have the 56 Trim 3076?
  15. Sounds like you have 3 choices in 0.82 IW: - 3071 - 3076 52 Trim (Disco's choice) - 3076 56 Trim The earlier on the list the more responsive and the less top end. The later the less responsive and the more top end. Although we are not talking huge differences between all of them, maybe 3-400rpm in response and say 20-30rwkw in top end.
  16. Had a great afternoon at the Hypergear workshop yesterday! Stao showed me all these new turbos and they look great. He had taken the SS1 turbo off his project car and installed an ATR43G3 with a single FNT nozzle. The car was not tuned yet so I wasnt able to give it hell but instead test the low down responsiveness. I have an ATR43G3 installed on mine without nozzles and I can honestly say there was a noticeable difference. The pickup from 2500rpm was noticeably improved and you could hear/feel the turbo start at around 3,000rpm. Not heavily of course at 3,000rpm but a noticeable improvement till 4,000rpm where I stopped. I had been having an issue with my ATR43G3 that I could not hold more than 15psi up top in the rev range. I had tried many things using those wastegate studs, different actuators etc. Stao managed to get a hold of a super stiff actuator. We could not move the rod more than 1mm haha. So there was basically no preload. Instant result 17psi up top! Woohoo! I stopped there as its only tuned for 15psi up top and there is plenty of room for some more preload. The different between 15 and 17 was very noticeable! Now off to the tuners, although I am very tempted to get some nozzles installed on mine first! Stao also sold me an adjustable exhaust cam gear. I will post up full results when I have them.
  17. Why not just turn the boost up and make 350 now? Sure it will be a bit laggier then if you had a gt35 but will cost you only a bit of tuning. Then you can chase 400rwkw later on.
  18. "Get a hiflow turbo, GCG or Hypergear etc. Not to mention these will just bolt straight back on plus the fact they have factory appearance and about half the price of a HKS kit. Just saying this has all been discussed over and over before. So much info on here. " Hypergear Plain Bearing Hiflow ~$1000 Cheapish Injectors ~$400 Z32 AFM $350 Just Jap 3" Dump Pipe $200 Hi flow cat and Catback not sure say $600 Intake Pipe $150-300 Plus Install Nistune install and tune $1000 I reckon you could get 250rwkw going for a bit over $4k ish if you were careful and did some things yourself. Although when does the auto need strengthening? $6-7 would be more a garrett turbo installed which you could push more than 250rwkw if you wanted.
  19. "At the time of the crash, police estimate the Honda driver was speeding at 104km/h in an area where the speed limit drops from 80km/h to 60km/h." The speeding doesnt sound that severe. If its only just changed down from 80km/h then the driver is only doing 24km/h over. I am not saying its acceptable I am just saying that to have an accident on the front corner of the turning car there really mustnt be a lot of time there, even at the speed limit. And from all the other reports the intersection sounds dangerous. When do the authorities actually acknowledge and say yes this intersection needs to be improved.
  20. The stock intake pipe wont work in my experience over 250rwkw. A replacement intake pipe that looks factory would be great, I had to make mine up.
  21. Get it checked on a dyno first. All the people commenting about more boost have had it run on a dyno and tuned at that boost level.
  22. Yeah WTF, neo turbo is more responsive than a 2530. Neo turbo maxes out around 200rwkw whereas the 2530 can make 230rwkw.
  23. Interesting, I notice my dyno has SAE correction. I wonder why Trent would change it? In post #1499 mine is the light blue graph and yet the comparison says STP correction so the green graph must use STP.
  24. Hmmm really?? I would have thought considering it is a small/medium size turbo on an RB25 then it would be a medium/large size turbo on an RB20 and it would make say 230rwkw but with more lag obviously. For example, on an RB25 it makes just more than a GTRS. What power does a GTRS make on an RB20?
  25. When Caltex E85 is in use then add 6L of E85 for every 44L of 98 to give you E10. Or if Caltex is using E70 then add 7L of E70 for every 43L of 98. Was E10, 90% 98 fuel and 10% ethanol or 90% 91 fuel and 10% ethanol?
