1984 Skyline R30 Manual
Ghostrider replied to samkhan86's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Welcome aboard Sam, If you stick with it you will have yourself an excellent piece of Japanese motor engineering. In the quick time, you are very likely to find the service manual at a Library. Once the injectors start leaking, they are virtually a throw away item, as to dismantle and repair is a specialist job & very expensive. You will most certainly find examples of your car in some motor wreckers (Auto Parts Recyclers) in Melbourne and a 2nd hand injector will probably sort out your problem. It would be best to take a set (6) in case some of these leak as well. A day at the wreckers is a great learning platform, as your dismantling the parts to get to the injectors without touching your own car, sort of like a trial run. Be careful with the seals when dismantling the car or cars as these are just as important as the injector itself. If you go to a wrecker, look at the bakelite insulator the injector is sitting in, as these are often cracked and broken & good 2ndhand ones are hard to find and you will find most L series 6's have broken insulators somewhere. Cleaning the injectors properly is going to cost you about $35.00 each, at an injection specialist or auto electrician, so it might be a good idea to buy yourself a new set. You can find these on Ebay.com (thats the USA ebay) for about $200.00 set. Cars are just a big mechano set, you take them apart and put them back together the same way and you rarely go wrong, but the trick is putting them back the same way. Hope this helps, Cheers & good luck, Dennis -

That's interesting! My factory spec L20et 5 speed Paul Newman with it's 144HP, pulls up Mount's Ouseley & Kiera coming north from Wollongong @ 90kph in 5th without a care in the world with 2 up. My old 7MGE MX83 auto Cressida couldn't do that with just me on board, unless I held it in 3rd to stop it jumping up to 4th & back to 3rd all the time. And when I took it up the mountains the other week, it kicked ass going up Lapstone Hill off the end of M4 at Emu Plains. Anybody that knows these roads in NSW can vouch that it is no mean feat. Cheers, D

Those tyre fitments WILL NOT under any circumstances pass registration authorities in ANY STATE in Australia. Outside of that simple fact Dan lives in NSW where we have to pass a roadworth inspection every year & we have gestapo style highway patrol police that just lurv anything that looks just a tad boy racer, so I would think he would not bother with the hassles. Further, did you ever look past the pictures, 225/25 tyres on a 15 x 11 wheel & 205 on a 15 x 10??? How absurd is that when he could fit easily 16 x 8 & 9 under his body, without flares and carry 245/45 tyres, or maybe for economics, 225/50 all round. JMHO D

Hi All, Has anybody had anything to do with Lumley's Special Vehicle Insurance? My Paul Newman's are currently insured with Shannon's and I just got a quote from Lumley's and for $30000.00 cover I got quoted nearly half what Shannon's charge me for identical cover. Any input would be of assistance. Thanks, D

I don't know that I would bother, it's just another HR31. If I was looking for something diferent, I think I would be sourcing one of these ...................... the real M30 Infinity or F31 Leopard http://www.google.com.au/images?q=M30+Infinity&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=2Ks3Ta22HJC-sQPS1tjWAw&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CD0QsAQwAw&biw=1280&bih=653 D -
The ONLY alternative would be to re drill the stru towers to suit the S13 parts. I have had S13 tops here and have taken them apart, turned them upside down & inside out & left to right & every which way and the end result is the same as what you started with. I don't know how legal re drilling the towers would be, but one thing is certain, it would HAVE TO BE extremely precise. Cheers, D

Yay Got My Pics Back!

Careful with the harness Cam, if you enter in anything CAMS affiliated the harness has to be inside a 5 year life span from manufacture date. Track days, street use (illegal in most states due to no ADR or ASA compliance) will be ok. Cheers, D -
Jarryd, The bolt PCD is identical, but in REVERSE and there lies your problem. If you want more than 1~2 degrees negative camber, you going to have to do some serious machining to the base plate to allow the ball plate to move far enough. If you can put up with minimal negative camber the S13 tops wont matter jack schit. But if your planning to run SLICKS on track days, you're going to need about 5 degrees negative, or more. Otherwise if your going to use street legal grooved tyres 2 degrees will be more than enough. DR30 camber tops are just about non existent today, even in Japan and if you search through Yahoo you will find just about ALL camber tops listed in DR30 are in actual fact S13. Cheers, D

I think you should be asking these questions somewhere else on this forum, maybe here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/forum/81-other-nissan-imports/ This classic section refers to everything PRE 1989/90 up to and including R31. The best I can say about an R34 is that we classic owners of HR30 & DR30 have the original R34, because it was these cars it was designed from. D

It is very likely a scam Dan! You will eventually be asked to pay some money towards shipping, if not all of the shipping to a given place and they will want it paid through Western Union. You pay ANYTHING through Western Union and you never see it again, it's gone & no recourse. Their deal or proposal will look very lucrative to you, so beware, be very careful how much information you give them, particularly where it can be inspected and your bank details. You can take it so far, but be careful along the way. Mag86 was looking at buying an 4WD some time back & I looked at buying a car that was in Newcastle, but when I wanted to inspect, it had moved to Adelaide, when I said that wasn't a problem, that I would get a mate to look at it, it moved to Perth, so just be aware, that it is very likely a scam & a big possibility you could loose your car if you proceed with them. Cheers, D

Wtb: Dr30 Coupe Door Trims/cards
Ghostrider replied to masTers's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
The part number is 01658-00322 Bumper, Fuel Filler Lid But I bet you wont get them from Nissan. I would think just about any car would have them, just have to be right size & length? I'm going out to a rubber & clips place in a few weeks, so I'll check for you and report. I'm trying to find cover plugs for my electric door trim armrests. The little gadget that covers the phillips head screw that holds it on. Cheers, D -

1978 C210 Crash, Help Needed
Ghostrider replied to 78 C210's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Hey Guys, IF I can help sourcing any bits you might need give me a buzz, because a few wreckers over here in Sydney are getting a few of these in and they just sit there for some reason. I got harvo some bits for his recently although the buggers are catching on that the parts are getting hard to get and pricing them accordingly. It's mostly sedans I have seen lately, so whatever is interchangeable is good to go I guess. Drew, did you ever get those springs matched up & I just sent hgc210 a PM letting him know I'll be down your way early Feb. Cheers, D -
It's not unrealistic, but the problem today with these kind of toys is, you have to have someone that particularly wants an C210 coupe and not just a car. On another thread some insurance company would only pay a maximum of $3000.00 for the C210 sedan damaged by some dickhead they insure. I have my factory spec PNV insured through Shannons for $30000.00, so it would be interesting to see how another company would look at it in a claim situation, because they have no idea of what value cars have other than what the Glasses or Red Books valuation says. I don't see why you don't just drift this, if that's what you want to do. Why sink thousands into another car when you have a perfectly good one now and that nobody really wants to buy at a reasonable dollar. One day somewhere along the track these cars are going to be worth squillions, but only when there just isn't another one to be found. JMHO D
