R30 Skyline Front Left Control Arm
Ghostrider replied to MRTHIRTY's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Where are you? I have a good 2nd hand one in Sydney NSW, or you can buy NEW for about $75.00 a/mkt. Cheers, D -
Geez your lucky Mags didn't know about that, when he was looking for one of these some time back he would have hounded you for it Cheers, D
-
I would have thought Rocking Horse POOOOO would be easier to find than one of them. D

Very correct! There is no iron clad guarantees about all this and in my opinion you're splitting hairs about it and trying to make a JDM out of an Aust factory delivered imported car? At the end of the day, at best it's just a copy/replica so I don't understand your heartache. Let's for a moment assume the car you want to emulate has in Japan red/white GT badges, are you then going to go out sourcing red S caps for the wheels & red S horn pad for the steering wheel & an red S badge for the grille, for the sake of a replica of something you don't even know what it is or want?????????? AND when you find they are not available what are you going to do then ................. compromise??????????????????????? I recently got some GT badge sets from Kuwait for FREE as samples, but were not what I needed as they were the wrong shape for my KHR30's. They were C210 style, 1` pair of blue/white & 1 pair of red/white and I'm giving them away for free. I haven't sent them yet because I put them away in a clean up so they wouldn't get lost and they are, as I have no idea where I put them, but I bet the 2 recipients of them aren't growing ulcers over the colours they are getting like you are? JMHO D
-
That's how the R30's came out. so I would be surprised if Nissan did it diferent just for your C210 D
-
Then I suggest changing the GT badges to anything but blue/white might be a bit extraordinary. D
-
I was of the opinion that all the GL badges in oz were blue/white. Do you have an S on your horn button as this will probably determin the colour you should be using. D
-
If it wasn't the fact that it's 16 hours each way for me, it would be a good thing. D

Ummmm now we are talking tire sizes, well factory fitted 14" tires were 185/70 x 14 & 195/70 x 14 or Ti 195/60 x 15. 185/70 x 14 have a dynamic radius of 299mm 195/70 x 14 have a dynamic radius of 306mm 195/60 x 15 have a dynamic radius of 297mm & optional fit 205/60 x 15 is 303mm And it's the dynamic radius that counts when it affects the speedo numbers. And John, your 195/65 x 14 is 295mm (figures compliments of http://www.toyo.com.au/Tyres.htm) Cheers, D

What do you call a proper engine Danny?

Just spotted this on ebay! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1985-Nissan-Skyline-R30-Turbo-Coupe-/190508079200?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item2c5b2a9860 Looks a bit rough around the edges for me. Bent radiator support might suggest the hit in the front was more than it looks. Maybe another parts car if the price is right? Cheers, D

4 speed auto >>> 1st: 2.842, 2nd: 1.542, 3rd: 1.000 & 4th: 0.686. Reverse: 2.400 Diff: 3.9 Cheers, D
-
Yep! It will do that. So your choice is to blow engines rather than a stock head gasket? Ummmm very interesting concept! As I said Have fun with your NOS kit! Cheers, D

Service Manual Mr30 Skyline
Ghostrider replied to samkhan86's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Yep! Same here. This exact one was listed last time @ $99.00. At $45.00 it's still a tad expensive and I would be asking a question on ebay offering the guy about $30.00 because there will be some postage. Cheers, D -
The most crytical part of kph @ rpm is your tyre size. Just changing from factory fitted 195/60 x 15 on an R30 to 205/60 x 15 which is the common & norm here in oz, it makes an incredible amount of diferrence to the end result. D

Not ONE bid? I wonder if he gets the message??

1977 Skyline 240 Gl 2 Door
Ghostrider replied to stock510's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
That's great news, not sarcastic, fact! Because a mate of mine bought an 1984 KB Laser off a priest in 2002 and it had 35000k on the dial, yet had a recond motor. When he questioned the priest as to why, he was told "I didn't drive it very often and when I did it wasn't very far, so the motor never got warmed up and at 25000k I had to put a new motor in it because the original one was worn out and burning lots of oil" hence why my comments went along the lines they did. It goes to show that Mr Nissan knows how to build tough engines that can stand in the test of time and still be as good as when new without going anywhere. Doesn't matter really what you paid for it only in todays climate it was probably to much, but sure as a lot less than the $15000.00 that was being asked on ebay closing today. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170605953788&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Cheers, D -
Just by using the Testarossa link and the right gear ratios the 4 speed auto has 0.686 overdrive and does 111kph @ 2500 The 5 speed MR30 with 3.9 diff & 0.833 od it does 92kph @ 2500 and 110kph @ 3000 in top gear. The PNV however has an od of 0.813 just a tad higher, but with lower diff ratio of 4.11 and it does 89kph @ 2500 and 107kph @ 3000. As a result of this, my modified L20et (umm 2818 L20et) PNV will have an 3.7:1 diff with a modified R32 GTSt gearbox with an 0.759 overdrive so that it will be a much better cruiser just chugging along on 106kph @ 2500 rpm off boost. Cheers, D

You can add another $500 to that LD28 crank before you're going to get it into your block at least. What casting is your L28 block? You will find the numbers just behind the left engine mount. You wasted your money on an Tomei head gasket in my opinion, not worth a squirt of cat's piss. Have fun with your NOS kit! Cheers, D
-
The testarossa link will give you 106kph @ 3500 & 91 @ 3000 in top gear.
-
Hi John, Your problem is the 3 speed transmission because top gear is 1:1 and not overdrive as in the later model 4 speed. Have a play with this link and you will see what you have got. http://www.testarossa.jp/utility/gear.html Your gear ratios are: 1st: 2.458, 2nd: 1.458, 3rd: 1.000 and at the bottom after 6 is diff ratio: 3.9 Cheers, D
