  1. 38K for a gtt at a car yard, not suprising considering they are there to make a profit, i would neva buy a car from a car yard no matter the warranty offered or price given, most cars there have been thrashed and/or smashed. car yards are only good for driving the car to see how it feels, dont expect a good deal from any car yard. gtts will depreciate in value, i know becoz i plan to buy one early next year and hav seen them for as low as 32k ono(manual, turbo, low kms etc), to silence some of you who think it IS impossible to get one at a cheap price....... http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!c...rch_distance=25 .i mean r34's are nice but they arnt XY GTHO's or a rare supercar that goes up in value. there are alot of people trying to sell r34's who think they can get 40K for a stocker!!!
  2. block up stock bov or tighten aftermarket venting BOV or run no bov, it helps if u hav a exposed pod as the air escapes thru it, also type of cooler pipes, shape, length etc. how is the flutter different to the dut dut dut (are youreferring to the vl noise?). i hear some turbo cars which actually hav the BOV PSSSHHHfirst and then the flutter directly after, not the flutter during back off in low revs and the psssht while on boost as people usually think, any idea how this is achived out of curiousity
  3. i reckon carbon fibre bonnets are sick as, lighter, better for letting heat out and looks tuff as, the was a few pics of a silver series 2 line on here with r34 GTT rims and it had a sick c/f bonnet with 3 outlets and one inlet and 2 clips in the middle, any one know what the brand and name of the bonnet would be and also the price? im thinking its a border(correct name??) bonnet.
  4. fast fours did a feature on it a few months ago: 2.2L ecotec 4 banger custom t76 turbocharger Spearco water to air intercooler 10 1600CC injectors FAST ECU 4 speed dog box ported head, solid lifters, aftermarket valves/camshafts/valve springs. all internals replaced with stronger items or race prepped state of the art suspension set up tuned to perfection when it ran a 8.04 it didnt use nos, this time i am unsure if it did or not, but im sure theres more left in it
  5. 7.72 pass by the APC saturn in the usa... dam, thats a fair effort, would love to see it run. what do u all think, i mean thats almost up there with our fastest rotaries. i know this is a RWD oriented forum but you gotta give credit when credit is due
  6. in a way yes. those cars come out the factory running low boost(5psi??) and were slightly detuned so the xr8 would still b the 'godzilla' of the xr range, lower boost means no need for big cooler unless the customer wants it, if thats the case its up to the customer to replace with bigger cooler. most xr6 owners wouldnt want to ruin their warranty by boosting it or modding it and/or have little desire to turn it into a 13(or 12) second beast. would still prefer a r34 or s15 over it. on a side note, the internals and drivetrain are not weak, i havent heard good things about the gerabox though
  7. on a road car, there is no real other choice, a straight pipe to the front of the car or a huge bell mouth in the engine bay would not be for the street for obvious reasons, unless u wanted to replace ur turbo/cooler/plenum etc every 6 months. stock airbox doesnt do it for me either as it was designed for use with the stock engine and not much more, similar to the stock intercooler and exhaust, sure the airbox is functional with higher power, but u would get more gains out of a pod+custom box+cai(more surface area, more flow, less restrictive box and cai). some workshops and development houses claim a pod alone netted them 10kw at the wheels, that i do not believe for a second
  8. i think a properly set up pod(apexi, k and n) in a heat shield box with rubber insulation and a cold air feed will net a fair bit more the 2-3HP at the wheels, this has been dyno proven too by various workshops, its generally a 5% increase in KW
  9. wat power is the car putting out ? must be quite an animal any pics of the car/engine?
  10. i was spewin i didnt go for the one for sale on nissansilvia.com, the guy wanted 31K coz he was going over seas the next week, pretty sure i couldve gotten it for 29-30K, now im sad
  11. there was a guy selling his red gtt manual with a fair bit of mods on here a few months ago for 33k ono, there was also a guy selling his gtt manual on nissan silvia for 31K, theres a manual gtt in the vic trading post selling for 34 ono. i read in economics class that the australian govt would drop trariffs on imported cars from 25% to i think 15% in 2005(some one tell me if im wrong here), not sure on the certainty of it but this would mean a 35K$ car would cost a fair bit less. i also want a r34 gtt manual by febuary next year(ill be rating 4) but rite now i wont pay more then 35K for a nice stocker, low kms but im pretty sure i can pik one up now for 31-33 judging by previous private sale ads, if i cant then i will just go for a s15. you forget that ok maybe the r34 is the least common skyline, but u also forget how hard it is to sell skylines these days, and i think its safe to say that mostly skyline/nissan enthusiasts are interested in r34s but not all of them will buy one.
  12. well here in australia we dont get the evos(only100 per year i think) and we only got a handful of GTOs which were ridiculously priced. instead we get a fwd 2litre single cam lancer pumping 70kw at the engine(or something like that), even our mirage and gsr are detuned/given a much less powerful engine. so i wouldnt really mind if they go broke
  13. thats correct, i hav an issue of fast fours where there is a s2000 with spoon headers, hi flow cat and full exhuast, spoon ecu and ARC airbox, it had also had significant weight reduction(softtop converted to permanant hardtop), it ran 13.9, maybe he was a shit driver but obiviously its a highly strung engine with not much potential for modding unless forced induction, nos, stroker kit is used. whereas on a r33, a full exhuast, arc airbox and a power FC will give u much more bang for your buck
  14. i think it would b VERY hard to get the m3 to do any more than it does, as all its components are built for power, unless u added nos or forced induction, same goes for the s2000. as for the skyline, rb30 bottom end, gtr head, port, cams, exhuast, pod in box with CAI, comp, tune, would go along way
  15. did i hear someone say brembos all round?
  16. yeh id go for a phatter metal one that is about the same length as the stocker, gettting it HPC coated wouldnt hurt either, would look nicer too
  17. sounds like a good idea to do to a NA skyline, more power, better torque and keeping it nissan, if he had thrown a gen3 or boss engine i think this thread would b flamed already. i would prefer manual though
  18. im pretty sure it isnt a full/part time street car as he would b chirping every gear(on street tyres anyway) and he would need a petrol station behind him while driving to the local shops
  19. granted the ford xr6t is a fast car and looks the part. but think about this for a second, a 4litre straight 6 with a resonable turbo+decent front mounted cooler does 14.1 on its best day, while a 3.5litre v6 NA does the same time(350Z). i know which car i think is the better engineering feat
  20. this has been covered a fair few times by myself and other people(mainly p platers) in the past lol, in melb a p plater is not allowed to drive any R33 GTST, b it auto or maunal, be it with 1 tonne of lead in the back or not, it goes by factory weight and factory power output. only way u can do it legally is if its the only car in the family etc but u need documents to ssist in this. cops dont seem to care much, they too busy defecting cars with neon, bovs, guages and other ludacris things
  21. i think the best exhaust option for a INTERNAL wastegate turbo would b CES dump pipe(is it a front pipe as well??), hi flo cat(or no cat) with a jap (trust apexi) cat back, as none of the japanese brand dump/front pipes impress me as most are single dump, and the twin dumps hav short wastegate dumps(10-15cm) which isnt good enough .if u plan to put a bigger turbo on ur car i wouldnt worry about it until u know wat turbo u want, as then u would hav(preferably) an external wastegate therefore u would only need a single dump and also a fatter exhaust altogether
  22. $500 fine for having a atmo BOV?!? r u serious! that is ***en ludacris
  23. apexi is the brand to use for filteration and flow, however arnt they throw away too?? as they anrt oiled
  24. all aftermarket xenon lights are technically illegal unless they r fitted by factory, however didnt the r34 GTTs hav to lose the xenon lights when complianced?? double standards
  25. 15cm is good, plus its a dump+front pipe in one, any idea if trust or blitz make a similar split dump design with good travel, as i prefer the jap brands but ive heard very good things about CES
