  1. As ZEB said, it could be all fine. Normally when a motor drops comp, not all of the cylinders drop the same amount. If they're all equal it sounds like a nice clean spec from when it was built. Is it blowing blue smoke once warm? What made you test it?
  2. A question, why did you try so had to shove RB30 mounts in? I'm assuming RB26/30DETT is being built, but most people just mod the rb25 mounts to slot the motor down... What're you expecting vibration to be like with out much rubber?
  3. The cool kids are buying LS1s too...

And if all of these cars that are going to be ready get booted... There'll be alot of passes for the 5 people that aren't going to go too quickly...
  5. I'm not sure how big your helmet is, but I'm sure as hell mine only covers my head. I still have my arms, legs, and torso to worry about... You know that area that has all bar one of your vital organs? If you stack a car at 150KM/H, and a 2KG object comes loose (The weight of most objects) it is like being hit by a brick wall... Even a mobile phone coming loose in a 100KM/H crash is enough to kill someone if it hits you in certain locations. There is a reason that the tracks have a "NO LOOSE OBJECTS" policy. Secondly, if it's just not tuned on timing, who gives a fark, so long as it doesn't ping at anything above 3500RPM... Even half the race cars out there don't data log shit!
  6. So you'd be running mid field at least Neil... Bit of fun back there!
  7. It's still going to have a better weight bias then a GTR though... Tyre limitations is another thing though, but I'd definitely be putting rear brembos on, other wise you're WAYYYY over braking the front compared to the rear.
  8. The 450 would be lighter then the previous motor yeah? It's an alloy block right? Either way, the GTR is a more nose heavy car then a 180 or GTS-t ever will be. It's got the extra diff, transfer case and assorted bits up front...

3rd gear warm up burnouts Fatz?
  10. If it isn't tuned, the worst thing you could do is put it on the race track and flog it for 10-15 minutes straight. The only thing it'll tell you is why you have fuel in your oil, or a hole in your piston.
  11. I'd be more worried about being hit by a flying laptop myself. Remember, if a solid one or two kilo object comes loose while you have a lose at 130+kmh, it's enough to kill you.

If it's just crunching, sounds like syncros.
  13. Time to trade the GTR in for something different Drunken?
  14. I think you'll want to look at weight distribution and brake bias Josh. The GTR is a VERY nose heavy car, especially in comparison to the 450SX. I'm thinking with only Brembos up front, the front is going to be WAYYYY over braked.
  15. You so can have everything... You just need to shoe horn a V8 in with twin turbos... So what were you doing the night before the event to spin a bearing and call oil surge issues?
  16. Brad, remember those winches will also have like a factor of 2 safety net in them at least, so it should handle 2400 odd KG, plus it's rolling, not dead weight as Duncan said.
  17. Brad, if you have spare time, I know of an R33 that needs an LS1 in it.
  18. I was told off after just my first session at Wakefield...
  19. Juz, yes, if you have the tear off part and it's all signed, you're all sweet!
  20. With it being on easter weekend, it's probably not going to run at this stage.
  21. Go hard, mate take it to Kon at Wollongong Automotive Services. He's a good bloke, and is a no bullshitter. Just call him, book it in, drive it to him. Don't drive it anywhere else if you can't afford a full over haul. It could simply be a lie hooked up wrong, it could be dead rings, he'll find the issue though.
  22. You guys do realise that 400HP at 7000RPM is the same as 457HP at 8000RPM (Ie, rev it 1000RPm more, pick up over 10% power) but you're still making the same torque, IE, accelerating at the same speed. This is why super high revving engines have super short diffs so they retransmit the revs into torque...
  23. Guys, remember, before you get this stuff printed, the various clubs and the site have a copyright over it. And for those of you who want SAU:NSW stickers, but aren't a member of the SAU:NSW club, why not?
  24. WTF are they?
  25. Neil, I'll see what I'm doing Sat if you guys want a hand to fiddle with shit... At the worst I can at least talk shit and drink your beer...
