Whatever bishes, BOWSER AND TOAD ARE COMING FOR YAS!

OR maybe you got 26 cams.. did you get springs aswell? 26 cams & springs with hydraulic lifters I think leaves a bigass gap. OR 26 cams with your stock springs and lifters would probably also run like shit as I believe the ramp rates for solid and hydraulic are different...

Rb25 Gearbox Into Rb20 R32
bubba replied to sly32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Search mate, there's a couple of threads on getting the speedo to work. Long story short, you need to get a Navara sender (pretty sure I posted the part number in one of the threads) and depending on your diff ratios you'll need to change the cog to suit. I'm running 3.9s and the 17T cog that came attached to the Navara sender was close enough (speedo reads 10kmh high) that I didn't bother changing cogs. -
Are You Suppose To Get Boost On Idle?
bubba replied to boostin_r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Any ideas on air blowing OUT of a leaking bov at idle? my thoughts were it should be a vacuum leak and as such sucking air IN at idle.. -
Don't forget you're on my team Matt.. I think that will cancel out any potential advantages.

I thought hydraulic lifters don't need shimming as that is the whole point of hydraulic lifters.

Co2 Intercooler Sprayer Or Cryo2 Intercooler Sprayer
bubba replied to Turbo 33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I've got some co2 tanks/fittings from old paintball guns and have been contemplating doing something like that. If you know what you're doing it's not a PIA to fill and you can hire large cylinders to fill the smaller cylinders from BOC. Is that thing from Autobarn (we don't have them over here) a kit? or is it just that loop that goes in front of the cooler? -
Have a look through the RB20 dyno results thread. Cheapest way to get another 50rwhp is an RB25 turbo. Don't know if you have a tuner who can remap your ecu over there but that would help get rid of some of the lag. My RB20 made 245rwhp untuned at 12psi through an RB25 turbo, was a LOT better than the stock turbo even with the extra lag. Aftermarket wise I'd probably be looking at something along the lines of a HKS 2530 but you'll need to sus out who can tune your car, be it remapped stock ecu (which is what I have done) or full aftermarket.

I can think of 3x 26'd rwd 32's off the top of my head... [5KYLINE], masters' red beast and Flash89's car. GTR consumption per TANK is a bit misleading as our tanks are a fair bit smaller.. I get about 14.5L/100km.

Ideas On Slimmest Possible Oil Return From Back Of Head...
bubba replied to bubba's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah I've read that you should return it to the turbo side so that it flows into the partial vacuum/void made by the crank moving through. I would say it would most certainly allow better draining of the oil from the return. -
If I didn't have a mrs and a mortgage I'd so be moving in!

Yeah very true! BUT, my motor came out of a VC commodore sporting a pair of 2540's and was making 365rwkw.. completely street legal and driven. How that sort of sh!t passes the pits is beyond me but it's definately possible!
-
I didn't even attempt to get mod approval as about 3 days after the 30 went in I got a yellow sticker because my bonnet didn't close. Took it over the pits and they notarised the engine number and that was it, done and dusted. The fact that it looks pretty damn stock under the bonnet (low mount 25 turbo etc) probably helped my cause somewhat. The justification I would have used though is that I broke something in the bottom end and it was cheapest to use an RB30 bottom end. I am also a firm believer in taking it in steps. For instance, you're more likely to get it over the pits if it's JUST a 30 bottom end upgrade, everything else is stock, than if you tried to get it over as an RB30 with say a GT35R hanging off the side. I'll cross the high mount turbo bridge when I get to it It's also easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission

Stock Gtr Ecu On A Rb26/30, Will It Run And Drive Ok?
bubba replied to unique1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I don't know who told you RB30's are illegal but they're wrong. Putting an older emissioned engine in a newer car is illegal but changing bottom ends and retaining the head/emissions setup for that particular year/car is fine. If you want some help/advice in regards to 4wd RB30 then give me a bell and I'll take you to see my mechanic mate. I have his old 30 and he built a new one to go into his GTS4. -
Brad, my RB30 is legal and licensed. As stated, emissions are all in the head etc. 26 to 30 doesn't even come close to the 50% capacity increase* limit that you are allowed to do without engineering/emissions testing. Mine was worst case scenario going from 2L to 3L but it passed the pits with flying colours without needing to be engineered or tested. *Actually I don't think the increase limit is that high, I'll see if I can dig it up but it might be something like 25%, enough to account for oversize bores from rebuilds etc

Are You Suppose To Get Boost On Idle?
bubba replied to boostin_r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I can make boost in neutral from idle but that a pissant 25 turbo on a 3L, 5psi or so if I rev it up. How's this though.. I can get some flutter or pssht while still in vacuum which is reasonably normal BUT, when I first put the motor in and didn't have the bov tight enough (so it wouldn't leak at idle), it was BLOWING air OUT at idle, not sucking in as you would assume while under vacuum. I put that down to the turbo spooling from idle so even though it's not creating positive pressure yet it's still pushing air in as opposed to the engine just drawing in what it needs at idle. Or am I way off? -
Take an average between my car and the GTR's and you've probably got your answer..
-
You like being the meat in the sandwich hey Brad?

Filled up from just under an 1/8th of a tank last night.. cost $76 @ 170.9

Twincam RB30 in my 32 gtst, RB25 turbo, very rich tune, I get ~300km to a tank or closer to 400km if it's all highway driving. I think a GTR tank is about 10L bigger than a GTSt though... I didn't buy a skyline to be economical. If the price of fuel worries you then get a bunky for daily duties.

You're not meant to serve or brake for anything "running" out in front of you, that is dangerous driving. The only way I can see you getting away with it is if a PERSON actually did jump out in front of you and the cops could see it, otherwise you're just grabbing the brakes to be an ass. I know this because a mate had some ass tailgating him so he tapped his brakes, turns out they were cops and he got done for dangerous driving

252's I think, nothing too serious, valves/springs/etc are all standard but he wouldn't sell me cams with the head so I'm stuck with stock 25DE cams for now Was looking into cam upgrade but to go whole hog it's like a 2.5k excercise I'm contemplating seeing if I can get some standard 26 cams reground to suit hydraulic lifters..
-
R32 RB25DE is capable of more than 300rwkw, my motor in it's previous car was making 365rwkw through standard 25DE head/manifold/throttlebody (with a pair of 2540's @ 21psi).
-
No, they'll do you for dangerous driving for braking heavily and you'll still have to pay.
