  1. That one with 2x regs looks like the apparent "34 gtt" rail I have at home..
  2. I'm going to be running stock runners and the GTR plenum bit (no multiple throttles). IAC valve along with most/all of the vacuum connections hidden on the underside. I don't envisage too many problems other than welding and plumbing. This *should* cost less than half of what making a full custom plenum myself would costand without the need to R&D things, let alone off-the-shelf items.. I am doing this for clearance reasons with the new turbo. Would appreciate any input other than "that sucks" or "it's not going to work".
  3. I'm going to go cry myself to sleep tonight but on the way home I'm going to enjoy my monster torque and drive the thing between 1000-2000rpm! <take that 2L!>
  4. I think it's only a problem for 33s and 34s as they run preload on the clutches or something. That is why you need to drop the driveshaft to put them on 2wd dynos..
  5. $1000? 2nd hand aftermarket item or highflow. My GT35R cost me $1600 new. I'm sure you could get a GT2530 or something for a similar price and still be reasonably bolt on. If you want a cheap upgrade then a standard RB25 turbo for $3-400 but you won't be able to run much boost or make much power. Will certainly be better than the stock 20 turbo though.
  6. intheglass, you're lucky that thing didn't go off in your face.. you will probably find the pink colour is due to a coating that will protect the airbag whent he explosive goes off.. You shouldn't fk with airbags people..
  7. BOV's were invented for mum and dad's who want their cars to be quiet, no real racecar runs a bov, particularly an atmo. That being said, I run one, there was a period of ~2 days where I didn't have one fitted and it sounded super ghey and I kept blowing cooler pipes. My current bov is pretty hard, flutters at low boost and easy throttle letoffs, full boost and a quick letoff and it opens properly.
  8. First off, thanks for all the replies and ideas! Tried a different igniter yesterday, made no difference. Thought it might be a dodgy wire somewhere so went to swap coil harnesses. The little inside plastic bits of #3 plug disintegrated into the valley Put spare harness on, #4 wouldn't fire *sigh* now at a stage where I have two non working looms, out came the soldering iron. In the efforts to get my car back to the stage it was at before I started, I didn't really think I had solved anything.. only guess is it was the plug that disintegrated was already half dead and something was getting an intermittent connection. All good now, runs like a dream
  9. Man that's running pretty rich.. it goes lower than 10:1 but they haven't scaled it so you can see exactly where it goes..
  10. Meh, I just use Ultimate98. I didn't buy a skyline with saving fuel on my mind. So far U98 has been nothing but reliable, until something happens to change that opinion of mine, I'll keep using it.
  11. Possibly, they tend to have a pretty good range as long as you're not after oddball sizes/profiles.
  12. I have a GTR bonnet that has a very old factory looking sticker with RB20 stats... so I don't believe anything stuck to bonnets Even if my base timing is low, timing has been fiddled with in the ecu so it is of no consequence.
  13. Yes and yes, and finally yes Once the 35R is on it will go in for another remap, I was wondering if it was possible to do what i said above. I'm not a fan of limiter bashing but some nice flames occaisionally wouldn't go astray
  14. Yeah pretty much, I don't like the whole fuel cut thing.
  15. Serious.. ffs last time I set the timing I put it at 15BTDC.. unless my tuner changed it, but I'm not touching the base timing because I've had a remap and it will likely ping its' head off!
  16. I run 225/45/17s and they ususally cost $75-85ea, and yes it did, cheers
  17. I thought stock was 15BTDC..?
  18. Wondering if it is possible to change the nature of the stock rev limiter? Now I don't know much (at all) about the coded internal working of the ecu BUT, I'm wondering if it's setup in a way that you could tell it to cut different channels, i.e. to cut the ignition channels instead of injectors..
  19. Try Roll Right Tyres in Balcatta, that's where I get the 2nd handies for the back of my car (I go through rear tyres like there's no tomorrow )
  20. ^^ That's a phat curve!
  21. My engine used to be in a VH commodore with a pair of 2540s on it, made 365rwkw @ 21psi and also did a 10.81 with no loss of traction. I now have the engine and am putting a GT35R on it, the commodore is getting a HKS 2.8L with T51R-SPL.. should be pretty mean.. I'm only aiming for 400rwhp for now with headroom for more later on. My mate is aiming for 800rwhp with the T51R..
  22. The guy turned out to be a bit flakey, at least I hadn't transferred money yet!
  23. SK, your point about the power steering bracket. I had to modify mine to get it to fit, it's simply that the thing used to bolt to the head and the top boss was longer than the lower two that bolt to the block. With the 30, all 3 points bolt to the block and the top boss has to be cut back flush with the lower two.. 5min job with the whizzer disc. (This was 20 stuff.. haven't seen a 25 bracket recently so it may well be different). My car is also registered with the RB30 here in WA. If you take it over the pits all stock looking (mine looks pretty damn stock at the moment) and with a small turbo, it is more likely to pass. Take it over with a high mount etc and you're asking for trouble I figured, baby steps Edit: I tried to do some text drafting to get the point across but the text didn't want to line up properly
