  1. This ^^ /thread
  2. He's probably remembering trying to do a U-turn in a Torana a couple of decades ago with 265/14's up front and no power steering.
  3. GTR radiator is twice as thick as your standard one, put one in mine (wasn't happy with the chinese ally radiator that I had) and it handled big burnouts on 40deg days without throwing any coolant out (shut it down at 105deg), good times.
  4. Locally sourced braided front lines FTW Compliments the slotted RDA 350Z rotors, EBC Greenstuff pads and master cylinder stopper very nicely.. excellent response in the pedal now
  5. Fitted some single piece braided brake lines to the front today, big thanks to Chuckie for the help (sourcing and fitting) What a difference! Already had slotted RDA 350Z rotors, EBC greenstuff pads and a master cylinder stopped so while it doesn't stop as well as my 32, it does pretty damn well for a bus. The braided lines have improved braking response tremendously, instant bite!
  6. Kind of, it's telling you to check diagnostics for the error code.
  7. ^^ this.
  8. My RB20 with stock turbo made 200rwhp at 14psi, with series 1 RB25 at 12psi it made 245rwhp. I would expect an RB20 with a Neo turbo at 14psi to be making somewhere around 260-280rwhp.
  9. Nice, I didn't bother, they licensed my 3L pretty easily. Do you know the visual differences between the boxes? The RB25t box is considerably larger than the RB20 box, you should be able to see some modifications to the gearbox crossmember and also the slave cylinder and speedo drive are different orientations (sorry, can't remember which way though)
  10. It's pretty hard to grind back an engine number enough to restamp it, people generally only stamp the old numbers on a brand new block. There should also be a cast engine model (RB20 etc) on the exhaust side of the block, below the manifold and pretty much on cyl.1 As for the diffs, they are pretty much the same. AFAIK standard manual 32gtst diffs are 4.3ish:1 (32gtr's are 4.1:1) while 33gtst manuals are 4.1:1 Gearboxes on the other hand... the R33 GTSt has a FAR superior gearbox, if the car has had an RB25 conversion then I would hope it has the gearbox as well.. to put an RB25t gearbox in my car (including a custom tailshaft, new slave cylinder AND doing the work myself) was a $2.5k adventure.
  11. RB20DET: mostly as you said.. flat cam covers, no bulge in cam belt cover (bulge is for VCT solenoid). Later RB20's actually say RB20 on the cam belt cover. Intake runners, where the top half of the manifold bolts to the runners, the RB20's last two runners are offset from the front 4. RB25DET: cam covers have raised sections at the rear, cam belt cover has bulge for VCT, will also be a VCT solenoid on the intake side of the head, just behind the cam belt cover (at least that's where it is on my Neo). RB25DE: If it's from an R32 it will look pretty much like an RB20 (no VCT), if it's from an R33 it will have VCT. I doubt you would be able to visually tell whether it's an RB25DE+T or a straight up RB25DET. You could always get an extendy mirror thing and have a look at the engine number..
  12. Wasn't me Probably Jas
  13. I've had my Pro-78 for nearly 4 years and I have not had a single fine, of any sorts, in that time. In fact, I'm back up to a full license. The extra road awareness they provide (would be nice if more emergency vehicles and road workers were using the alert system) is extremely handy.
  14. Ok guys, plans have changed somewhat so my manifold and gate are up for sale.. 6boost T3 flanged high mount manifold with 50mm v-band gate flange. Was custom made to suit my 25/30 in 32gtst, turbo (was set up for a GT35R) has been pushed forward so that the compressor housing sits forward of the strut tower in a 32. Will suit any RB20 or RB25. $1200 firm, item located in Perth but will consider posting at buyers expense. Turbosmart 50mm Progate (new style), $700 firm, item located in Perth but will consider posting at buyers expense.
  15. BP98, my cars don't seem to like anything else. Occaisionally I'll put $20 of Peak 98 in if I don't think I'll make it to a BP but it feels a bit doughy and not as responsive.
  16. The non-turbo auto R34's still use the R33 gearbox. Unfortunately, with the turbo R34 autos (my Stagea is pretty much one but 4WD too), the TCM is part of the ECU, not separate like in 33 and earlier. I guess that means you should do a while turbo engine conversion while you're at it
  17. When I put the 25 box in my 32 I got a local place (Final Drive) to build me a new tailshaft, for $700 I got a 2.75" 2 piece to the length I needed, with a brand new slip yoke to suit the 25 box, heavy duty rebuildable Spicer uni's and a new centre bearing. +11ty on the comments about 1-pieces in our cars, they might be fine in a Torana but not Skylines
  18. Ok, not including 260RS's.. Series 1 C34 Stageas run a series 2 R33 engine. Series 2 C34 Stageas run the R34 Neo engine (with some minor differences for 4WD, i.e. no TCS).. by far the better option! The 4WD blocks are tapped for both RWD and 4WD sumps. As for being thicker in places, no idea.
  19. I'm running 350Z front rotors. As for caliper upgrade, series 1 C34 can use all R32-33 GTR brakes but series 2 C34 uses 14mm bolts (like 34GTT).
  20. I put the missile switch for 2WD in the slot next to the shifter (s2 auto), it's recessed so it can't get knocked and it's always visible.
  21. Good work Chuckie but also keen on info about this ~50mm thick replacement.. bigger the better over here!
  22. I've got a G25 and it's a nice bit of kit, looking at ways to firm up the H shifter and brake pedal though. There is a REALLY flash brake pedal available for the G25/27 with a hydraulic piston but it's $250
  23. RB30E+T. /thread
  24. 1. Look at the your fire extinguisher, it will have a maximum temperature written on it somewhere (well, it should).. if it's less than 50degC, I wouldn't leave it in the car on a hot day. At the very least don't have it mounted in direct sunlight. 2. Not that I know of. 3. Yes, the stock dump pipe AND front pipe, are rather restrictive. 4. Don't do it. If you really have to, be smart about reinforcing the areas that have been removed.
