  1. Yeah I have a personal vendetta against Ryco. I mean what kind of company charges well over $10 for a filter and can't even put a plastic seal over the end? Go wipe your finger on the base plate of a Ryco off the shelf and look at the crap thats on your finger. Lovely. I believe Purolator's Premium Plus or PureOnes are far better than Ryco's offerings. Nissan are good aswell but the price varies. My local dealer wants $19 for one, where as I've heard others get em for $9! For $15, the Purolator PureOne is a better choice for the money.
  2. Nulon's Green Long Life stuff is actually alright. 5 years protection and just add 33% (of your total capacity) into your coolant system after the flush and then fill with water. Too easy.
  3. I've used Tech wax. Its not bad but because it has minor abrasives in it, there is little point using more than 2 layers because you'll just be rubbing off the previous one. You'll definitely need to prep the car first before using tech wax. Something with a mild polish like Meg's ColorX would do the job nicely!
  4. I found that the ECV in cars have a modest effect. It certianly doesnt go from ear splitting to stock like. I'd be looking at getting mufflers first and use the ECV to 'top it off'.
  5. Don't forget replacing stuffed tyres and brakes afterwards. The admission is only a small part of the overall cost! And yeah if the date is good, I'd be up for it.
  6. Well the car is a big step over the previous VZ commo, you have to give them that at least. But I agree the amount of suck up trash the mags are all talking about is beyond belief, like Holden have reinvented the wheel or something.
  7. I'd try 0.9mm first if you're not running over 11psi. The bigger, the better when theres no misfire
  8. So does one have to own a Skyline to attend a Skyliner's social? hehe..
  9. I'd take the Jaycar because they are more value for money. And I'd take the Comp VR because sound quality is more important than SPL.
  10. So how is a person meant to know if a particular spring with a given spring rate will work with a particular non adjustable shock? Is there parameters of the shock that can be looked at? Eg Whiteline Springs and KYB shocks. How would u know the KYB is appropriately valved?
  11. I'd give the 5W30 a go. Since your car doesn't properly warm up, the 10W60 will still be very thick. I wouldn't be suprised if your fuel economy was a little better with the 5W30 too.
  12. Twin T04Z's on a 2.6! Thats nuts... with the appropriate dyno sheet lol
  13. ^^ The 3 MPS and XR5 are FWD. The quote about wheelspin in 4th gear with 3 people in the car is disturbing. How your average joe will handle it would be questionable..
  14. Ahh thanks for the translation ecr33sky! Phew.. lol
  15. You from Japan? Our street seen would be pretty lame. You chose the wrong city lol..
  16. All EDGE products besides the 25W50 are judged as 'Fully synthetic' by the boys at Castrol althought the API Group III and IV compositions may vary throughout the range. This could explain the price differences. I also wonder what Cubes means by tunnelling in reference to oil filters. Oh SANDY, I wouldn't change the oil filter. Just leave it until the next time you do another oil change! No point throwing it away..
  17. Being turbocharged, it'd be far more entertaining to drive than the RX8 with the gobs of torque. The RX8 engine for me was like driving a VTEC car. Lots of revs, barina like torque and utter dissapointment.
  18. ^^ Some filters use a poor quality anti-drain back valve to hold oil in the filter upon shutdown. I've seen countless Ryco ones do this after a while. Nissan OEM ones I have been good in this respect. Good filters use a silicone gasket (Eg Purolator PureOne) which lasts much longer. You can tell by if it has an orange valve at the bottom instead of black (ordinary nitrile rubber) If the filter is clogged it goes into bypass so you wouldn't be able to tell if it was clogged or not without a pressure gauge plumbed in before and after the oil filter. And even then its difficult to tell. I think this thread should be put in the maintenance section lol.
  19. "Immaculate exterior/interior" yet needs a respray and interior retrim. That guys been smoking some funny stuff.
  20. I'm not so sure. The 1/4 mile was 14.6 @ 97mph (IIRC). Thats not 911 beating power, and the proof is in the terminal speed? Agreed, its a bloody pocket rocket though.
  21. Hey I noticed this written down in my order; "BIKIN LUBANG SEAT BELT DI JB LIAT FOTO" Hmmmm wdf?
  22. Nah he put in an LS2. A real mans motor
  23. Yep 300V has a stout additive package + high quality ester base oil = excellent recipe. Good thing its cheaper than Redline too. But for your average Skyline its wayyy overkill. Beer Baron, when you do the UOA, make sure they test for all the elements Mo/Zn/Ca etc. TBN would be nice too.
  24. Dropping the filter at 5k is a waste of time IMO. Unless you've got problems with your motor, it wouldnt even be 20% full of debris. Actually the longer you leave the filter on, its single pass efficiency increases (ie the better it actually filter out small particles) so I say, leave it on! EDIT - I like this summary: "When time comes to change the oil at 3000-5000 miles they may just be getting in to their most effective part of their life cycle. Hence they never function optimally, or spent far less time in that range where small particle filtering is most effective."
  25. The reason of misfire is because you got -11 plugs. Ie 1.1mm gaps which is way too large. I would close the gap with a feeler gauge down to 0.8mm and reinstall. Your misfire should be gone Failing that, then try some new plugs. BKR7E. Iridiums are a waste of money IMO.
