Cool! is it a custom harness to suit stageas (and of course NTSC) and is it in colour or black & white?
-
I think Consult plug is by fuse panel behind driver's side coinbox? ie. here:
-
Damn, that sucks but at least you've found the problem big that can be the worst part, not being able to find what the problem is... lol you've got no car, you're stuck on the side of the M4, and you're still posting?
-
Where abouts in the car are you talking about? Can you take a picture?

Hi all, I am after the two plugs off the back of the standard climate control unit, with as much wire attached as possible (say, 6 inches would be enough, a foot would be better). Needed from/for Series 2. Standard climate control unit: The plugs on the back: Approximately what the harness looks like (NOTE: these are the Xanavi plugs, standard ones are slightly different) Please PM me if you have this... I know it's a long shot but I am trying to ditch the Xanavi unit and somebody might be wrecking a series 2 out there ( )

This has been covered before in detail somewhere; basically attesa does not like this, unless you can very closely match the rolling radius. Some people have been getting vibration through the s/wheel, 4wd lights coming on etc. from using mismatched rolling radius's. I believe it will handle a millimetre or two (ie. treadwear) but 16's on the front and 17's on the back for instance no good (ymmv) Again shouldn't drive very far like this, attesa (and your diff's I suppose) will not like this; only a 'limp home' solution.

Changing Factory Airbag Steering Wheel
DaveB replied to RS4StagMan's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Well finished removing wheel and verified that this is indeed the case: proceed at your own risk etc. etc., however all you should need to do is... disconnect battery, point wheels straight ahead and line steering wheel up straight carefully pry the large rectangular panel off the bottom of the wheel (preferably with something non-metallic to avoid scratching your wheel) and undo the two large white connectors in there. Then carefully pry off the two triangular panels on the sides of the wheel pictured here: and undo the torx security screws you see there - one in each side you may at least need a socket bar, mine were lock-tite'd pretty well and took a fair bit of force and careful bracing of the horn module to undo. Then the horn module comes out, and - hey presto - it is the airbag module, they are one and the same You're then faced with 19mm bolt and with a decent sized breaker bar it doesn't require much effort to undo (indeed, most effort is spent holding wheel to prevent it turning and breaking your steering lock or something nasty like that; I used my knees) and hey presto, wheel comes off When you re-install the wheel, install it on the locating dowel on the 'clock spring' module underneath, wires down: and make sure you line up these marks on the wheel itself and steering shaft, to the top: ...there you go hth -
ahh I wondered what it was she was saying lol Not patched to ciggie lighter for me though, was a whole massive loom in there with about 10 metres of cable, cable tied up, with 3 wires, one of which was earth, and a whole custom short loom with a false plastic plug in the end that went nowhere... I'll try to get a pic of it all its crazy

Thanks Ed... hmmm.... well it says 'year 1999', but I think something's a bit fishy because the model numbers on the back are all wrong (by my reckoning) and it has the same plugs as all the "series 1" units I have found. The model numbers (version number?) 0V000 for instance - I see 0V500 or 0V502 on all the "series 2" units, and they have the series 2 plugs. Plus '2C800' becomes '2Y460' on "series 2's", and '7C 06' is usually a higher letter/number combination ie. on mine it's '8C 16'. Of course I could be completely wrong here, but I think series 1/2 are unique due to their plugs being different, and I am pretty sure the unit I have is from a series 2, and therefore also pretty sure of what the series 2 plugs look like.... at the very least, there are two different plugs: one black x 2 ("series 1"), the other white x 2 ("series 2"). I'll try to summarise some of the examples I've looked at on auction sites here, these links/pics should be available for a few days ("example" links are clickable)... Evidence follows to support my theory (appologies for post length) "Series 1"s example 1 example 2 example 3 example 4 example 5 example 6 example 7 example 8 (odd one out due to year claimed to be '99 ) "Series 2"s example 1 example 2 example 3 example 4 example 5 And just for reference S2 Xanavi unit (climate control plugs): Soooo.... everyone else spot the common trait of these little suckers having: A) different plugs and B) earlier/lower numbered markings on the back re. the "0v000" vs. "0v50[0/2]" thing etc ? I also notice that the bottom of the left-hand socket in the back of the "series 1" climate control units often has a spot of purple paint

This pic' (the one that's in the original post and won't show up when I use the reply button - dammit) came off the Yahoo Jap auction site here which says "Model year: Feb 1997" so that supports my theory that S1 and S2 are different...

Warning Re: Standard Climate Control Conversion
DaveB replied to DaveB's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Took some snaps, lots more research, here is the 'crux of the problem': As you can see it is certainly not plug-and-play... my plan of attack is to try to get hold of the two plugs (and some cable) off of the standard S2 loom and splice them to the xanavi ones... anyone have a donor S2 they are wrecking? PM me -
Wtb Xanavi Touch Screen

Warning Re: Standard Climate Control Conversion
DaveB posted a topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Hi all, Just a notice of caution re: the Series 2 Xanavi unit-to-standard climate control conversion to others looking to do this conversion; it is not a straight swap; the wiring looms are different. [photos of connectors showing differences to come] More specifically the standard climate controller takes one 20-pin and one 18-pin plug, whereas the Xanavi unit takes two x 20-pin plugs and they're physically different. I will persist as I want to be rid of the damn Xanavi unit, and post my findings... I know I have posted elsewhere (in the reversing camera thread) about this but that didn't really seem like the right place. So instead I am asking "has anybody successfully replaced their Xanavi climate control/gps/etc with a standard climate control"??? If you have, and you can share any secrets about how you did it, I would be very very grateful... at the moment I have the entire Xanavi system out and boot gear out too... poor stagea is in bits however I have an in-dash LCD touchscreen on the way and I want to be rid of this damned Xanavi setup. I have been through the manual and the car and it's just such a mess, three or four individual units which share about 6 or 7 wiring harnesses before sending it all up and down the car... yeah. If I at least had English wiring diagrams, I might have a hope. Plan at this stage is to try to get hold of the climate control harness off a non-Xanavi series 2 and splice in matching colours, with the standard pinout as a reference (in Jap). -
Hi all, I am going down the path of the standard climate control conversion from Xanavi. I posted here about whether a standard unit would fit (no replies as of yet), and I have read all of this thread, and found the picture above most interesting... I have a S2 (2000) auto, Prime Edition with all the electronics one could cram into a stagea, except for the reversing camera. I bought a standard S2 climate control unit from a forum member, and I can't find any compatible plugs in the loom at the back of the centre console. Looking at Chook's pic' of a S2 standard climate control's connectors, I am beginning to suspect that mine is perhaps a S1 climate control, and the plugs were different. It's difficult to see enough detail in the pic' but it may be different (certainly the plugs are a different colour to mine) what do you know/think - are they different? Sorry can't work out how to attach Chook's pic, it's here If there's any other information/pic's that might help please let me know, I have everything apart at the moment...

yeah how'd it go with the FPV cooler?

A/t Light Comes On When It Shouldn't Front Wheels Engage?
DaveB replied to mains_stag's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
What do you mean by 'font drive didn't engage'? Have you checked alternator bushes? Could be that they're on the way out and you're losing electrical power, have seen mention of similar symptoms as that somewhere. You might find this thread useful, tells you how to run an A/T diagnostic on the ECU. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=3605428 -
Hey you could also try this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nismo-Speed...bayphotohosting going on e-bay at the moment:

Oops, my bad. Sorry I just chucked that arrow in there as an afterthought to add more 'usefullness' to the pic'... got it wrong, fixed below: ...also good advice. Don't do a hurried job of cutting wires, makes a mess

Hey Steve, did you make that ~160awkw with the standard S2 sidemount intercooler?
-
Hi Gary, don't mean to hijack this thread, but I was wondering if you eventually achieved your power target of ~200awkw, and if you managed it with the R34/S2 stagea sidemount intercooler? Thanks, DaveB
-
Sorry, wasn't able to answer this question, but did they fit? I have just found some info' on globes for the (standard) climate control: This was from this thread under the DIY sticky: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=3333939

Yeah I sooo wanted to get silver, but now that I have seen the pearl white/sfhc, i'd rate it as good 'in the metal'. But silver is still my favourite. Just rare as duck fangs with Dayz kit & prime edition... I've rung a good auto paint place in Adelaide and they told me the same thing; can't do it in a can, no way no how. But if it was serious paint work it could be done professionally. I have actually found that Nissan Arctic White (for example, '84 Bluebird) appears to be a damn close match; I have a can and will try it out on the small stuff and see how it turns out.

Thanks gtr_z, my unit arrived about a week ago, I have just not had a chance to have a 'play' until now... actually got it about 4 or 5 days after paying via online transfer? Pretty quick! Very impressed so far... comes with an active GPS antenna which even works accurately from inside my house (where other GPS's I've tested - bluetooth PC ones for instance - don't get a reliable signal). A small caveat, FYI re: SIMs: You need to disable the PIN code on your SIM, if you have set one whilst it was in a mobile phone, to use with the unit. Great little device, should work nicely. My backup battery came to me charged and working too - switched it on right out of the box (after connecting antennas of course)
