  1. Yup, pretty much spot on. Heh - as you found out, the only real way around it is multiple connections (cos whilst each single is limited by the latency, by establishing multiple connections you overcome that). This is also why torrents work so well ... anyways, back to your regular channel now </end geek>
  2. Based on the HTML source, I'm guessing the videos themselves are just plain embedded files, so they're likely coming over HTTP. As HTTP runs over TCP, there is going to be maximum throughput on that single HTTP connection purely due to the latency. As the site is hosted in the states, and most people on SAU are in Australia (and you're in London), there's a reasonably high latency (250-300ms+) which is where the throughput limitation stems.
  3. Few years back driving the highway at 100kph or 110kph (can't remember the limit anymore) from Brisbane to the Gold Coast, cruising on my long drive back to Melbourne. Up in front of me in the same lane was a carrying furniture on the back - suddenly the tallboy flies off the back and hits the road in front of me, barely had time to swerve and nothing in the right lane - still managed to clip my passenger-side guard & blinker. Crazy thing is - the guy didn't even notice... I tried flashing and honking, but he didn't get it clearly, so I followed him until his turn-off (maybe 15 minutes) and through the town, into a carpark and just fumed at him as I checked out the damage to the front of my car. He looked a bit stunned, and didn't really know why I was fuming at him until I pointed to where half his load had been (more stuff had subsequently fallen off). I laid into him for not tying it down, etc. I'm glad I followed him, if I'd pulled over before that I would never have caught up to him and I had nothing to write his number plate down on (I have a terrible memory). He eventually stammers an apology and I managed to get it repaired through his insurance. I had been sitting fairly far back, and I hate to imagine what would have happened if I'd been following closer or hadn't been paying attention to swerve so quick (or if something had been in the right lane). You were bloody unlucky with what you happened to your car, but - as others have said, at least it didn't fly up and hit the windscreen or do more damage.
  4. I was under the understanding that you'd max out the injectors around 220rwkw... They typically work this out based on the size of the injectors. Obviously you can always bump up the fuel rail pressure, etc - but yeah. So on an RB25DET with 370cc injectors, multiply 0.7456 by to get KW, then by say about 80% to allow for drive-train loss .. works out to be about 220rwkw. Mind you, that's at pretty much 100% duty cycle, which most tuners would prefer to avoid ...
  5. .. didn't know you guys ran like that
  6. The nismo MFD add-on (was standard on UK R34 GTRs), gets quite a few extra features (lap timer, g-meter, etc). Try checking out http://www.nismo.co.jp/en/products/competi.../mfunction.html for details ...
  7. ooooooooh cool idea! hate to imagine how quickly it would get overrun with guys :S (Edit: ... and I just realised that post was from 2008 anyway .. d'oh)
  8. +11ty billion for iPhone <3 (sidenote: what's with all the whacked HTC model names these days..)
  9. iinet 150gb business plan here .. expensive, but I have a public IP range routed and all sorts of other nonsense which none of the other providers will do at a remotely reasonable rate. I'm roughly 4km from the exchange too - syncs at about 7mbps..
  10. For a non-turbo it does seem a bit on the pricy side, almost like they're trying to make up for all the modifications (which typically lower the value of a car, not increase it)
  11. Was the tyre the correct weight & speed rating for your car? Surprised you don't mention the brand, too.
  12. I have fuses at both ends - near the amp and within 30cm of the battery (legal requirement).
  13. *shakes fist at Madaz* .. you'll get yours, damnit! ... (j/k - I really hope you don't - it's a horrible experience that I wouldn't wish on an someone I don't like)
  14. sucks owning multiple cars when rego rolls around
  15. I paid $774 for 12 months on Wednesday last week .. be happy (worse, I only received the renewal notice in the mail on Tuesday, and it expired on Thursday)
  16. I bought my car from Sydney for that exact reason - and I had even tighter guidelines on myself a) Turbo sedan b) Manual c) Fresh import (not second owner in AU) d) Stock as possible I ended up driving a Toyota Chaser JZX100 and Nissan Skyline R34 back to back, and ended up buying the skyline (chaser was gonna cost slightly more, had slightly higher km, be harder to source both performance and repair body parts, in the case of an accident, and I felt mechanics would be more familiar with skylines than chaser. Though I loved the idea of the chaser being more 'unknown' and 'wtf is that' - especially 3.5 years ago when I was looking) So yeah - don't be scared off buying from interstate - it may be cheaper because of the P-plate laws there too (though we've just got them now too). As everyone has already noted though, you really just need to be aware of the pitfalls of bringing it back through Regency, etc. Owning an import has it's own "special" things you soon learn about as does owning a high performance vehicle: * Insurance costs (and dramas getting insurance except from speciifc insurers) * Unfamiliarity of many mechanics (so you need a specialist or do most yourself) * Higher servicing costs than a standard econobox (low profile tyres cost more, things break if you drive hard, many parts are more expensive than a more common car) * Sourcing parts (whether its servicing parts or body/interior parts - wreckers are your friend) * Police attention * Regency/passingdefects (and the initial checks if you bring it in from interstate) Anyway, it's best to be aware of what you're getting into. Good luck with all of this, I'm sure you'll find one that's perfect
  17. At the end of the day, it's money spent that you'll never see back (modifications to cars only decrease, not increase their value). If you think you're going to get $2K worth of value out of the LSD in the 2 years before you move on to something bigger & better (which will almost certainly have an LSD from the factory), then it might be justifiable.
  18. Depends on the state - each state has different tinting laws. In South Australia you can't have more than 35% on any of the windows (and even that's relatively recent - it used to be 35% behind driver, only 70% for fronts - yuck). Check with your relevant Roads/Transport authority website - they should have pretty clear rules about it. And yes, as already stated - anything that's 'defectable' could void your insurance in a claim - given tint is a visibility thing, could easily by pointed at for particular accidents, and your insurance rendered void. Either way, you want to stay legal to avoid police attention and fines, right?
  19. It's essentially an unregistered vehicle I would think, Transport SA website comes to hand here: http://www.sa.gov.au/subject/Transport%2C+...istered+vehicle ... doesn't say anything about pits - maybe ring 'em up and double-check though? It probably meets the criteria for a tier-2 vehicle inspection though ... http://www.sa.gov.au/subject/Transport,+tr...ection+-+Tier+2 Anyone else know for sure?
  20. Even my N14 SSS has third-party fire/theft (and an alarm) :S I'm honestly stunned anyone would own a nice car these days and not have an alarm not alone insurance.... Feel for you .. horrible situation
  21. On a related note, I've seen my R34 hit 93% duty cycle on a cold night. Scary for what's essentially a stock car + exhaust :S (I imagine a retune will get that down though, as R34's are known to massively overfuel as soon as the boost increases..)
  22. No, 12.5TB RAID is used for .. uhh .. other purposes ... *goes back to prepping R34 gear & stereo surround for repaint in Powerplus Tungsten*
  23. Bonnet isn't likely to be ADR approved, and thus both attract police attention and be a defect. 25GTT should be the same, yeah.
  24. You can hear my BOV quite clearly - and I've still got the stock airbox too.
