Wohoo my car didn't blow up!
someonestolecc replied to someonestolecc's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Ok. They did all my stuff my car was ready today (friday). I figure it ran outta rego so I'll drive it straight from cromer exhaust to procar for the dynoday since it's on the same road. Final cost I think was $700 and supposedly they couldn't do the wheel alignment because they "didn't have specs". Whatever that means. I'm not too sure I'm still impressed with them until I get explanation as to what they mean by SPECS?? Either way it cost a bit more than I'd hoped, I'm sure they did a great job but since it was mostly lotta little things but I don't see them being QUITE that much worth of time - what's everyone else think? Am I being unrealistic as to what mechanics charge? (I was hoping for about $500). -

Do you drive with your fog lights on?
someonestolecc replied to Terreto's topic in General Automotive Discussion
My foglights come on when- - there is fog (rare) - it's raining really heavily and I can't see (still legal) - idiots in the right lane blocking traffic doing 40km on a 90-120kmh zone Any other time = off. Cops have said before it's for "adverse weather conditions" only supposedly. I think this whole argument is getting mute however as the stock audi, lexus, bmw, merc etc lights are getting more and more deathly. -
Ghost Plates - ghostplates.com.au
someonestolecc replied to geno8r's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I thought flashes occur in daytime also. And yeah since it's to protect the plate against photos I would only want it to be blocking the plate on the photo. I would never use the obscuring license plate cover - may as well just take the plate off entirely (as a cop can see both just as easily). -
Doughies, out the front of my house!!
someonestolecc replied to blu32GTR's topic in General Automotive Discussion
haha I'm with blue. The point is you don't know who's out there - next time they might do doughies outside someone's house who is a sicko and doesn't give a **** about anything so anything could happen. On the other hand maybe the guys you're messing with are hardcore too -
Yes please do you'll see most of the modified ones in Sydney there

Stuff to look out for on cefiro?
someonestolecc replied to Nebuchernezzer's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I think you'll end up falling in love with the cef and pulling the sr20 out of your gazelle and putting it into the cef -
D'oh - As usual you're probably right. Oh well we'll see I guess :
-
Oh really? bother. I thought it hung off the ECU ... Where's it sit and what's it look like?

Fair enough Archie I know what you're saying - your first post sounded a bit more abrupt and at the time I didn't give it the benefit of the doubt Still, as CEF-11E said it's a calculated risk, and in the end it wasn't worth it for him based on the chance - and unfortunately that's a boat a lot of us are in. I can't actually get insured - I work for an insurance company and I've spoken to no less than 10 brokers who represent the majority of underwriters and insurers in Australia. It's a combination of myself, my age, my car and my mods that stop me from being a risk they cover. Mostly my fault. Still this thread isn't about the benefits of insurance. There are threads for that and this ain't it. Either way for explaining what you meant.

My cars outta rego. Cromer Exhaust is on the same street as ProCar so my mate will be drivin me to Chatty, we'll cruise over to Cromer. I'll get my car from Cromer Exhausts and come back down to ProCar where I'll go up on the rollers. Camber kit + wheel alignment = +5kw I wouldn't mind - I'd be interested to see if my ECU knows the real revs of the car and reflects the aftermarket tacho or reflects the in-dash one (incorrect). Also if the speed reading at the ECU differs from what my dash displays (cos I think it's out). I have a good theory as to why it would, but I also have a good theory as to why it wouldn't.

Wohoo my car didn't blow up!

Cool. They called me yesterday and said I won't be needing a new cat. Sweet. Apperantly the heat shield just fell off or something and was causing rattling. Turns out my oil leak was that the inside of turbo oil feed braided line had detached or something - which would explain why I thought it was beading on there but couldn't see the source. I did drop off some pineapples and rear camber kit to them however. While I was there I checked up on what they were upto- New sump (more oil yay!) Crappy oil drain pipe that's kinked (to be fixed) Custom cut factory catchcan (will fit in around my manifold and help the aftermarket catchcan) Cromer sponsored drift s14 Cromer targa GTiR interior (mm) -
hey nark. question - you reckon my car would require this? aiming for approx 230rwkw.

Agreed in full to your post but it takes a ****wit to say it in someone's thread asking to keep an eye out for their stolen car.

I wouldn't touch the super protector at all. A cop sees that (and they will from the next lane over) and they'll do you hard. They changed the law in regards to obstructing the number plate and it's applicable to this and the fine is up. The spray looks like the best idea because only fixed speed cameras use the flash so no human is every going to think something is wrong. Although if you use that I think you should take the SAU sticker from your back window if you have one As a matter of interest I ordered one of these photo blocker sprays a while back and never ended up receiving it. I don't know if it's cos they're dodgey, cos customs might have taken it (although I never received notification) or because I accidently sent it to next door (although they would have brought it over) -
Your right you probably will get flamed. Fire and theft is capped at $5000 in Vic and NSW, so by the time you claim it, pay the excess, loose your no claim and factor in the premium you've lose your NCB and got about $1000 in your hand if that. I think that's the stupidiest thing I've ever heard of. Next, take me for example. I also own a cefiro and my car ain't insured - doesn't mean I want someone to take it does it? (which is what you're implying) and I can't actually get insurance for a cefiro. If you find me an insurance company that will insure me I'll definately consider it. For interests sake I got a quote for a modified r32 and the premium was over $5k a year with an excess for theft being just under $3k. If I had an accident my fault with the car written off $7k. Not everyone can get insurance and in a lot of cases it doesn't make sense (unless you're a shareholder of the insurance company). The thing that annoys me the most is you seem to think it's ok to take someone elses car. "That's what insurance is for". I say we wouldn't need insurance if these ****wits all died out.

Resinator Removal..good or bad?
someonestolecc replied to Haysey's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I just put a resonator on cos my car was too loud and I still think it is You now drive a r32. You'll get there -
the sr20 ones were mine and too_much's. CEF11E's was rb20 with the "smiley face" front bar to accomodate the frount mount.
