  1. seriously, why bother putting up a thread asking advice when you have no intention of taking any of it? everyone who posted here told you they were rubbish and gave you better options. duncan even told you how they worked and what they are made from (and he knows as he used to make his own AWD 'modifier') but you had made your mind up before you started the thread and just hoped someone would post up and tell you they are awesome. you just paid $170 for a $4 toggle switch (the AWD/RWD) a 80c fuse, and about $10 worth of variable resistor to alter the signal between g-sensor and attesa ecu, maybe $10 worth of a pretty case to hold the bits. I don't mean to sound like a prick but it's frustrating when you make a thread and people with knowledge take time to answer your question and you just flatly refuse to listen at all. it's a waste of their time and yours as well.
  2. fark, very unlucky for it to have unfolded like that. the problem was it spent so long sliding on it's roof like a sled which of course has a lot less traction than the other side... so it didn't slow down at all. most cars by the time they hit the sand have wiped off a lot of speed even with locked brakes but this thing was still hauling. very wild ride for the driver and very lucky escape for the spectators in the area.
  3. got a small piece of updated news of sorts. in a couple of months I'm heading out for a month and a bit of treking around. going to drive the nurburgring for a few days (been meaning to for ages), spend a few weeks in italy and a few other europe stops and then of course BACK TO JAPAN! so I should finally have some NEW pics to upload in the japan photo diary. In the meantime it might also motivate me a bit to go through the old pics I've never sorted and upload some of them. so hang in there.
  4. yep, bakadesu may not be as baka as he claims.... red slashed plates are not trade plates/dealer plates as people often think. they are definitely temporary registration. hence why you see them on lots of dodgey drift cars that are 90% track but want to get out into the mountains once in a while, they have little hope of getting even a dodgey shaken so they get temporary rego instead and drive on that. I would say a lot of dealers use them too for their cars hence the misconception that they are dealer/trade plates.
  5. well when cold the oil pressure is quite likely to be around 8bar. that's not really a problem and it will change a fair bit depending on what type (and weight) of oil is in there and also what the ambient temp is (colder it is higher it will go). now, the real concern should be what the oil pressure is once the car is at operating temp (80 degrees C give or take 5 degrees). at those temps pressure should be around 2 bar at idle and will increase with revs. ideally it should go much higher than 8bar at max rpm when at operating temp as things can go bad with too much pressure. these two problems may not be related at all. and if it's just a matter of seeing 8 bar pressure at cold start then that's not really a problem at all.
  6. cool car! you will need some good biceps with the slicks up font and the tiny go kart steering wheel! should be wicked fun and sound great with the big webbers on it.
  7. yeah value vs performance and spec the 350 V36 sedan is probably a better choice over the 370 V36 sedan. you pay a fair bit more dough for the 3.7 and like nismo said differnece in performance is not stellar and the 5spd auto in the 350 36 is very nice. 7spd is a bit of a wank. plus being a few years older there's lots more 350 v36 sedans to chose from. and yes they are actually not too bad unlike the V35 sedans which were just about the ugliest cars ever made. god they were (are) awful. no wonder they are now worth bugger all. it was such a shame as the V35 coupes are a great car but the sedans make me feel a bit sick.
  8. hi mate, all the cars I've ever imported I buy and import myself so I have never used any aus importers to recommend to you. having said that with V35s now being fairly well stocked in aus, and prices on them falling fairly sharply of late I would also suggest that you look at some in aus too. don't let me talk you out of importing but they are one model where you could definitely score a nice one for a nice price in aus and have the benefit of seeing it in the flesh and getting it quicker. I would suggest that you don't really need a import company/car yard to import the car for you. a switched on broker with good record and good contacts is all you need to get things done. Small brokers can be good as (theoretically) they should have more time to spend on your particular needs and will work hard for you right up till you are driving away in your freshly complied and registered car. word of mouth is very important to us. There are a number on this forum that would be worth checking out for sure. talk to a couple and see who you like. money wise there would only be about $500 between the cheapest and the most expensive so price is not such a concern.
  9. yep precisely! it's actually not that bad. tow should be around $250 for a 'retail' customer from port kembla wharf to sydney cbd and a bit less if you are in the trade or have a good relationship with your chosen towie. for the hassle of paying $120 for a trailer for a day, plus needing a car to tow it with (another $80+ if you don't have one), then add the drive down, the drive back home, then the drives to pick-up and return the trailer, all the fuel you use and the half a day minimum this will all take and all of a sudden $250 for it to be delivered to your door or workshop of choice seems pretty bloody reasonable. most towies with a proper tilt tray wont get out of bed for less than $150 anyway so $250 for such a distance seems pretty fair. iron chef, I would always advise shipping to the port the car is going to. kiwi are bar stewards. for all the extra time and extra risk to the car I say ship direct to sydney and try a towie like select. if you explain you are a broker and can provide regular business they should do you a reasonable price. much more convenient I reckon.
  10. lol. of course we all read kanji!!! even my helper monkey reads kanji and my dog can write hieroglyphs. now, anyone care to have a stab at the above? even just 1 page or something. I know most but could use the help.
  11. it sure has some rapid acceleration! braking is out of this world good too. I'm heading there in September for a few days of ring driving. I'm sure I can do better than this hack.... will post vids after... lol.
  12. Hi Guys, I'm back with another favour to ask. very similar job to last time, it's invoices for work done to a car. it's a GTR that has had some work done at a big GTR tuning shop in japan. If anyone could help me with this one it would be greatly appreciated. images below. I have left them BIG to make it easy to read, but if anyone wants a smaller version let me know. domo arigato mr robato.
  13. from memory about $500 or $600.
  14. yeah schuey's performance has been a bit disappointing but hardly un-expected. I don't think anyone with half a brain really expected him to be straight up the front in the merc. it is a bit surprising though how far behind rosberg he's been. I'm not sure what exactly the problem is, but I'm kind of sad he did make a come back. he did the right thing retiring at the top of his game. it's never a good idea to come back. especially to come back to a car that is not a front runner really.
  15. yeah they both had it lit up nicely! it was cool. and agree, sanchez stooged massa badly. I imagine massa would be pretty pissed about it. he would have been sitting on redline queued up behind sanchez waiting for his turn in the pit box. would have loved to hear what he said about it on the radio..... haha.
  16. I too couldn't believe the two ferrari's racing each other in the pit entry! that was pretty hardcore. still I guess no one wants to be the sucker queued up behind their team mate waiting for a tyre change. it was a pretty ballsy move though.
  17. btw did anyone else get the 'crossed line' on the ITV coverage on ONE HD? it was hilarious. the bloke was talking to someone about what the commentators had been saying, and speculating about penalties etc. I have NFI how that happend?
  18. maybe I was just dirty cause webber and co made such a woeful tyre choice so early in the race and then spent the rest of the afternoon farking it up further. the pit stop fk-ups at redbull were diabolical. there was lots of action I'll give you that. dunno why though I just wasn't feeling it. though I was smiling when rosberg was looking good for a win. shame he couldn't keep it on the track during that rain. if he'd been able to struggle through that he would have been hard to beat I think.
  19. best bet is to form a relationship with a tuning shop in your area. in my experience most of the cool, amateur level track days are private days run by tuning shops. some tracks do also run general open track days too. once you are in with a tuning shop that's involved in building circuit type cars they will know all the track days that are on in your area and they probably organise some of their own for their customers too. like saurus organise big track days at fuji speedway (short course and full course) for their customers. the full course at fuji speedway also has open days where you can rock up and drive. have to pay some fees and sit through a briefing etc then you pay by the session. drift shops often organise drift days too of course. but yeah, start talking to a tuning shop is the way to go I reckon.
  20. pretty boring race. I was spewing as I had $10 on rosberg to win as he was paying 30:1. I couldn't believe it when he fell arse backward into the lead. what was everyone thinking going in so early for inters? haven't they learnt by not not to do that unless it's pissing down? anyway, I missed my $300 on rosberg BUT I had some cash on button too and he was paying 15:1 so it all worked out ok. I couldn't believe he was at such long odds either considering he's been going well lately and had qualified ahead of hamilton. bloody vettel was 1.85:1 which was a waste of a bet so no surprise I didn't put any coin on him. webber was a bit better and I foolishly did put a few quid on him, but with button paying off I was still well in front for the weekend. the gambling is the only thing that livens up the races these days...
  21. yep, spot on. the range really is that wide. although it's rare to find a decent one for the $20K mark but it does sometimes happen with a very motivated seller. I'd budget $30-$35K realistically for a really, really nice 32 GTR. there are some mighty special ones out there, you just have to know where to look.
  22. couldn't have put it any better myself. very well summed up. and all good advice. and yes they are lovely cars but for the love of god pay the extra $10K-$20K and get a very, very nice one or expect to spend up big to keep the thing in serviceable condition. if you want a big luxo barge with lots of road presence they are hard to beat. I still love them.
  23. lol, didn't take kimi long to fk years of punishing fitness regimes at the hands of his F1 masters. god I love him. he'd be even more likeable as a fat kunt. I will spit chips if he takes webber seat though. I don't think it will happen but anything's possible.
  24. sexy dane. looks just the way it should.
  25. phunky's set-up and the one nismoman describes is the way to go. no question. there are many reasons why nearly every race car you put your head in will have the battery there, or in the boot. it needs to be accessible. due to the nature of the use of race cars they often need batteries charged or replaced. you don't want it near you. you want it low and secure. you want it easy to wire up. so yeah, floor, passenger side, as far back as possible is the place to put it. easy to get to but still out of the way. under the dash, not a good idea.
