  1. grim32, Have you had yours tuned since mr squiggle had his way with it?
  2. Madaz... You got that quote from another thread?!?
  3. Start pointing fingers at people who knew about it.
  4. Pretty much spot on. Inlet - 9.18mm Exh - 8.54
  5. Could be a fuel pump on its way. Throw it on the dyno for a power run to check out the afr's. Shop around power runs can be had for as cheap as $30 from some places.
  6. Thats pretty bad luck having 2 turbo's let go in a row.. Both the reputable GCG and Slide. Going back a little I remember you also had similiar issues with a T28 dynamic turbo chargers (MTQ) turbo that let go after it was installed, they too apparently said it was overboosted. What happened with the GCG turbo? Same thing, just started smoking? How did the spool feel compared to te GCG turbo?
  7. Good stuff. I feel less worried following sk's advice for the hydraulic head. It is worrying when you hear from engine building places not to mention tomei them selves recommending against blocking off one restrictor in a hydraulic head. I think a final word from Proengines would be the clencher for myself.
  8. Looks good stocky. Definitely looks good. What Lag... lol Thats awesome. The supercharger is definitely working well... The power delivery is much different to this old vid. and the awesome charger sound.
  9. Definitely a good link. Bucket of soapy water would no doubt aid in finding those leaks one can't hear.
  10. All the best for Bill.. Thanks for the update.
  11. So std valve springs.. Strange.. They should have floated like hell. Had you made any mods to oil restrictors or what oil pump did you use?
  12. Definitely worth while grabbing one of these. http://www.nengun.com/catalogue/product/454 Route it up in to you glovebox just under the latch so that the plug and be dropped down and then be pushed back up when not in need. Nice and hidden. Disconnect it and shove the hand controller some where when you get pulled over or when its not needed. I tried a ps2 extension cable... Couldn't get it to fit well/tight with the supposive mods that one must do to it.
  13. It may be of interest to some of you that the PFC has a standard idle of 900rpm and 950rpm with the a/c on for th R33 RB25DET. What you are seeing is the fuel cut recovery rpm. Fuel is cut until a certian RPM then fuel is activated. This is controlled by the AAC valve; if its slightly gummy or the solanoid isn't correctly working you may have the occasional issue with the fuel cut recovery being caught in time as not to have the car almost stall. The R33 RB25DET PFC runs a default value of 1000rpm and 1100rpm with the a/c on. This value in the pfc can be bumped up (~1300-1400rpm) to prevent those atmo bov stalls. On another note, the stock ecu in my old R32 always had a funny idle. It wasn't until I fitted up the PFC that idle became perfect. However, with the pfc idle must be set correctly. The PFC contains an idle value; disconnect the aac plug and set idle so that it's just under but doesn't go over the idle value within the pfc. Reconnect the plug, init the pfc and have it do its idle relearn. Providing the AAC valve and its solanoid is working correctly idle should be perfect.
  14. Nope, I didn't miss the point; I completely ignored it. I was talking about the 2.3tonne 4wd 'easily' smoking a lightly modded gtst. lol its only 230kw.... A mild R32 or R33 throws out almost that power with just an exhaust and a little boost yet weighs 1tonne less. So either your R32 has a few issues or your still running near stock boost. My little old R32 RB20DET running 1bar with an exhaust and fmic used to run to 180km/h in a shade under 14secs. I highly doubt 230kw 2.3tonnes would keep with that. Hell my uncles 250kw HSV Manual and his mates 280kw HSV Auto couldn't keep with it and they both are lighter than that 2.3tonne thing.
  15. Spotted Vange this afternoon.
  16. They are around 2.3 tonnes and 0-100 in some where around the 9sec bracket. So it wouldn't exactly smoke a stock R33 GTST that runs 0-100 in the 6's and the 1/4 in low to mid 14's.
  17. RB20's hydraulic. Solid would have been nice.
  18. Swapped out PFC and crank angle sensor today. No change.
  19. Good stuff Mad.. Fingers crossed that economy improves.
  20. You have his plate details obviously.... Providing all goes well with the police ask your insurance company to obtain the drivers details from the police. They should be able to cover the fix you up without any out of pocket expense. Glad you and your daughter are fine. I've been hassled once driving to the oldies with my other half in the car; I didn't have the time to stuff around so I didn't provoke at all, not one little bit, they went to over take pulled up side by side and swung a base ball bat; I dropped it back left them for dead. They then went to over take; I slowly brough my speed up holding them on the opposite side of the road, let them catch a little then as they got side by side I slammed the brakes and hit the side street as they were locking the brakes up trying to pull up; did 3 more quick right turns and turned back out on to the main road and drove to the oldies. I think they were idiots as it was a bad area + I was driving on the speed limit and they were for what ever reason in a massive rush dropping wheelies etc behind me. They were in a VN dunga door I was in my mildly worked (ecu, cam exhaust) VS 5ltr 5speed that had a super weak drive line. I had a good chuckle over that one.
  21. Do ring around as there are a few places that do monthly payments. Famous Classic Car Insurance comes to mind. Arse end snapping out in an N/A? Must have been that nasty road surface.. My other half did similiar in a VN Commodore. Leaving a round about at normal speed; the road sufrace changed from that nice grippy new black surface to the old shinny light grey stuff and bang instantly sideways and up against a gutter. IF she had have been a bit of a hoon in her younger day and knew how to counter steer she would have been able to pull it back. Instead she majorly over corrected spinning the car 180degree's. I learnt how to drive on that stuff when I was young and silly down near the local bus depot. Unbelievably slippery.
  22. Thanks Jazza. I will swap one out with a known working one when I do the PFC swap tomorrow. Jazza.. I ripped my swear word out of the quote.
  23. With regards to your problem... The only way to know with an issue like yours is to check it when its doing it. It could be many things. Yes its a heat problem.... It appears this problem you are experiencing is common as only the people who have an issue tend to post in such threads. Those who are not couldn't care less half the time. Maybe your AAC Solanoid descides not to play when hot, maybe an issue with fuel supply when at idle as the fuel pump will be in low volt mode. Tap the throttle and it buzz's up on full volts. Both very easy to check and rule out. Maybe a faulty fuel pump? Did it do it before the fuel pump? Rule things out one by one. Thats what trouble shooting is all about. Unless its a rather obvious symptom. and mine... EDIT: Who cares about mine. EDIT: Yep all hoses have been replaced, there's really not that many. Hoses on mine off the top of my head: 2 x FPR's, 1 x std boost guage map sensor, 1 x brake booster, 2 x carbon canistor, 1 x Bov, 1 x wastegate, 2 x IAC, 1 x AAC... I think thats it.
  24. I would tend to ignore testing the ecu for now. Look back at the afm and o2 sensor. First disconnect the o2 sensor completely. See if it runs better. Unforunately I don't have a stock afm anymore so You cant test that. With regards to the missfire... Grab a set of BCPR6E NGK spark plugs (grab them from Motor traders at around $3.00 each) If your running the std gap 1.1mm this may be your problem. so A set of BCPR6E Coppers will get you on your way.
  25. Back when I was 19 and bought my first nice car (VS 5ltr 5speed, bilsetin suspension, nice tidy wheels etc) I had 2 cops pull me over driving home from work 11am at night. Say it was too low and then asked where my 'Stash' was. I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head. He then shoved his hand in to around the back of my erm... messy glovebox and dumped all the stuff on the floor, had a quick look in the center console and left. He was an arse.
