Hey guys, my car came with a GReddy Turbo Timer installed, and it worked fine. Took the car to a workshop to get new turbos fitted and dyno'd, and now the turbo timer is acting up. Its default setting is at 1:30, and once the car starts the timer runs upto 9:59 and stays there, and the setting can't be changed. I usually had it set at 2 minutes and it would stay there, but now its gone berzerk. Any ideas?

I'm in. Will probably have two drivers as well.

Ford To Drop V8 Supercar Funding
JimmyRickard replied to noisia's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I sincerely doubt any one of those manufacturers would have any interest in funding a high profile racing team in Australia. You guys do realise there are other racing categories in Australia? On the weekend there was the Super GT cars with Ferrari's, Aston Martins and Lambo's, as well TranZam, the fastest tin tops in Australia, as well as Formula 3. I counted about 5 people in the crowd. Those of you who think Supercars suck, that's fine, but if they do end up folding they will take any commerical form of Australian Motorsport down along with it. -
I witnessed something incredible yesterday. My brother and I were towing the race car down the M5. As we were approaching the E-way fast lane, a lot of cars were slowing down and pulling into the right lane. Up ahead was a new tarago with all the family inside with its hazards on, slowing down to a complete stop in the E-way fastlane. We got held up behind them as we couldn't pull out fast enough with the car trailer. I was convinced they had broken down, but my brother thought otherwise and beeped and shouted expletives at them when we finally got a chance to pull out. Just as we drove past, we saw them finally find their e-tag and put it up on the window. So to recap, they stopped in the middle of a highway lane, risking the lives of everyone around them and the 7 or 8 family members in their car, to find their e-tag and save themselves a $10 fine. People continue to amaze me with their stupidity.

Just spoke to the AASA office at Winton, Wakefield Licences will be fine. Huzzah!

It's an IMPUL tuned computer, whatever that means I can't find any details on it. I'm going to replace it soon with a PowerFC anyway so as long as its not overboosting or leaning out im not too concerned. As far as the mechanics go, Mick has stated that the cost will cover all incidentals, like bolts breaking off and needing to be drilled out etc. CRD was a rough estimate for the amount of labour required, so its not a quote as such, and Bel's didn't give me any infomation at all, just $500 thats it. Both Jim and Mick assured me that the car won't leave the workshop until its working perfectly, and Bel's mumbled something about a warranty after I asked about it. I'm not questioning who's the better mechanic i'm sure they are all competent, just wanna know who is gonna give a shit once the car is out of their hands.

Hey guys, my turbos blew up a couple of weeks ago, and I finally have the cash to replace them. I got a good deal on a set -7's (for an R32 GTR) from GCG , and am now looking for a reputable mechanic to install them. After searching through the threads here and working out which mechanics you guys trust, I called the following mechanics, and got these prices: (This is just for installation of the turbos only) Mick's Motorsport: $1000 (including dyno run) CRD: $800 C & V Performance: $1200 Unigroup: $800 Bel Garage: $500 (+$65 for 3 power runs) I can't think of a reason why Bel's would be so much cheaper. Any ideas? I'm only having the turbos installed at the moment, is there anything else i should be considering? My engine is stock apart from pods and a piggyback ecu. Also, anyone know where to get some good cheap dump pipes from? Cheers!

IS the Wakefield license the same as the AASA?

My first car was a VL. First week I had it I put some HeKTiK chromies on it, and it was pinched two days later. They even stole my bobble-head bulldog My first sportscar was a 98 MX5. Hairdressers car, but f**k it handled well. Made me really appreciate the characteristics of an excellent handling car, and has influenced me ever since. Now I have a GTR. First supercar? Looks like it

Hey guys sorry to hijack, what's the general consensus about Mick's Motorsport? I'm having my turbos fitted there and considering a tune with a Haltech E11 there as well. Anyone with overly negative comments feel free to PM me

I don't see why you can't take it back and tell them to fit it properly. If you paid for an "installation" this certainly sounds like its a part of the service.

Hey guys, I decided to stick with the twin turbo setup. I'm about to put down an order for 2860-7's, and I just wanted to get a few facts straight. These are bolt-ons correct? How much HP will they be good for on an engine with stock internals? What else would i need to get the full capacity out of them? And when comparing the 2860-7's or -5's, its my understanding that the -7s spool up quicker with less lag (more responsive), so what are -5s good for? As I said before, i'm mainly after response, so would this be the way to go?

Garrett Gt2860r -5, Gt2860r -7, Gt3071r Turbos
JimmyRickard replied to sloutch's topic in Group Buys
Hi i'm after 2 X GT2860R - 7 turbos. Is this group buy still available? Will there be any cost on top of the $2150? Cheers -
I don't leave it ANYWHERE. Seriously. I get edgy having it parked out the front of my house for more than 10 minutes.

I had a guy just stick his finger out at me the other day for no particular reason when driving my GTR. I found it amusing. At the end of the day, these cars are designed to make a statement. If you don't feel comfortable about the statement the car is supposedly making about you, then don't drive it. I can understand that people will either think i'm a hoon or fUllY h3Kt!K, but I don't really give a shit.

Apparently its to do with the download servers. The updates aren't finishing properly and rebooting the console, and trying to install a half-finished update makes it crap itself. I downloaded it off the web and it worked fine.

Pair Of Perfect Bnr32 Gtr Turbos
JimmyRickard replied to Sammy's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Still for sale? Did you find out whether they were steel wheeled turbos? -
Ok guys just got it back from the mechanics. Turns out it was the turbos, but also the inlet manifold gaskets needed replacing, so I had that done, but am yet to make a decision about the turbos. I've been told to go for ball-bearing N1's, or change the setup to single turbo. For a reliable weekend circuit car, what would you recommend?
