R32 Auto To Manual Conversion - Help :(
BANGN replied to BANGN's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
iv been having a read up on this and it appears I need to bridge the inhibitor and splice the reverse switch out of the auto loom that went to auto gb.. but that also leaves a couple of things i need to clarify.. does this mean I have to use the Auto ecu? does the computer in the drivers footwell have to stay there? yeh some help on this issue would be great as the only threads I could find were from 2005 & 2006 and doesnt look like the members I need to ask are still around -
Hey there, Currently in the middle of converting my R32 GTST from a peice of crap auto to a manual.. The spare motor and box are mounted finally in the car, pedal box is it.. only one thing im stuck on WIRING! in terms of wiring what do I need to change if anything? I am uncertain what I need to do in terms of the plugs on the gearbox, I am guessing one is a reverse switch and one is a speed sensor for 180 speed cut?? no idea I am just guessing.. what do people tend to do in doing this swap? I have allready put in the ECU from the manual car I had, the pinouts look the same alltho just hte number on the front of the ecu is different.. also I removed the computer on the drivers side footwell, I asumed that was a auto box computer? I also removed the SHIFTLOCK box under the dash, looked like the unit that makes the beeping in reverse. if anyone has done this conversion PLEASE let me know as I would like to know what you did in converting it. I really want to know what I need to do with the wiring side of it in terms of what needs to be swapped. Dan

R32 GTS-T Gearbox conversion.

i am in the middle of doing mine... Manual and auto gb mounts are identical..looking for a manual mount is pointless, you will need to modify your gb bracket and lengthen it, my mate did mine with some steel and modified the existing bracket and welded an extension on the bracket as the brackets on the BODY are in a different location.. the hole in the tunnel is also about 35mm further back. But im pretty sure it will be ok to use that hole still.. the manual tailshaft still bolts up however... auto doesnt as the auto box is shorter -
Converting Auto Skyline To Manual
BANGN replied to nsta's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
be warned.. i did a Auto to manual conversion in my 32 this weekend and the gearbox bracket had to be lengthened as the bracket on the body is in a different posi on an auto to a manual.. also the hole in the floor was in a diff spot. This is same sorta deal in a 31 so it MAY be same in 33 -

sounds like a f**ked pressure plate :S -
at what gap between the throttle stop and throttle arm? is it also at the point of resistance and not? as in the shift point between the two
-
the throttle is a pain in the but trying to maintain speed on the hwy, the throttle is on and off at a certain hold point in the throttle to me indicates teh TPS is out of adjustment? anyone have the setup specs for it? just need to set it up for the pits tomorrow then when its registed the auto's going HORAAH
-
yep that fixed it all

well i sorted out a couple of issues.. I noticed my parklights on the front were not working... in which there were LED's in there.. put some 12/5w in and then I had an extra set of indicators working so yeh u'z were right, 2 sets in each corner lamp of indicators.. just gota fix the other side and check the speed, should be ok now there is another indicator drawing power. seemed strange the park lights stoped the indicators working
-
the fronts have 12/5w i dont have guard indicators?? im confused when you say I have six
-
guys at work beleive the globe watt-age is incorect, that it should have 21 globes and it could possibly have 18s in it i might have to inspect what globes i have
-
its same both sides front and rear BUT i just checked the hazards and its normal flashing on hazards and fast on indicators both sides :S
-
got my car i just imported droped off yesterday and first thing i noticed is that the indicators flash quite fast, as if there is a light blown BUT all 4 indicators flash so there isnt anything blown :S they are also a normal lookn brightness any ideas?

Forgot To Mount Fuel Pump Inside Tank
BANGN replied to bahanthich's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ROFL there is no forgetting, you dont forget to do that, you either know what your doing or you dont. That is just silly another reason people should have a licence to purchase tools -
i dont get the car here til the 15th so i havnt seen the lights if they have brackets or not

to me a bodykit on a R33 looks cheap and poxy unless its a front bumper skirt tat is subtle.. the best body kit on a 33 is a standard body kit with no wing, big wheels and droped on its ass

to me its an inexperience thing really. When I got my L's & P's I had a 90's seca and after 1 year of havn my P's i dropped a 165hp motor into it.. then i moved up a year later into another fwd car with more power, to teh point it was a 13 second car after I had finished with it and that was mid last year.. in 4 years I never had one accident or caused an accident and really I had it sussed on how to handle a fast fwd car.. then I purchased a R32 sky last year with 240 hp.. not much faster but rwd.. what did I do? in the wet on fwy i put my foot down slightly and lost it into some barriers and totaled the car. Inexperience!! iv just purchased another skyline but after that expensive lesson I have now got a new respect to RWD cars and im going to go some track days to get my experience up in them, I can drive and handle a FWD perfectly fine in fast conditions as i have the experience, but in slow conditions i f**ked a rwd car.. so in short.. TRAINING IS EVERYTHING.. NOT POWER
