  1. This is a long article. Just thought I would share. Should take about 1 hour to read through. For all you IT g33ks out there that love industrial computing, espionage, possible nuclear destruction - read this article ---> http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2011/07/how-digital-detectives-deciphered-stuxnet/all/1
  2. Yep. I'm in the same situation - I too bought a Blaupunkt NY 800, still waiting for mine too. Spec wise it seems like a pretty cool system. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/378613-blaupunkt-new-york-800-or-clarion-vx401a/
  3. That price is rather expensive, you can buy a genuine Nissan N1 water pump for much less. My mate has one of these units in his old Mercedes. Makes bugger all difference in performance. But does definately help if you are constantly in traffic on a hot summer day.
  4. If she wants the premium feel - She could get the top of the line model Corolla with all the leather etc. etc. + 21% off, she would be laughing, and have change to spend on shoes/bags Re-sale and insurance is also very good - so if she gets over it - she can still sell it at a good price. Only thing that's rather bad about the corolla is the 4 speed auto is rather primitive. If only it were a 5 speed auto.
  5. Economical on fuel, but service cost will be a nightmare. The quality on VW is pretty sh*t for the money spent IMHO.
  6. I have no idea on hybrids. Rule of thumb, more complex = more maintenance cost. Some hybrid parts are not serviceable unless by the dealership. For the time being I'd personally stay away from hybrids - unless she just plans on keeping the car for 2 to 3 years and turning over to another one. Lexus, is an excellent choice IMO. I have a '99 IS200 regularly maintained approaching 190,000. Still going strong, still tight and no rattles or squeaks - not a single fault.... My car and the latest model Lexus still feel very "Toyota", ie switchgear. it feels like a blinged out Corolla with leather. I'm not questioning the quality - It just doesn't feel exclusive/premium especially when you can see switch gear directly out of an Echo, Corolla and Camry. The big advantage with a Lexus is parts are interchangeable with it's much cheaper Toyota siblings - So parts are plentiful and reasonably priced, most people that have worked with a Corolla and Camry would have little issues with servicing a Lexus since the there are so many similarities. If she isn't too fussed I'd say get a 2nd hand IS250 - Lots of goodies at a reasonable price and they tend to hold their value better.
  7. I'll also come pick them up.
  8. Hi Charles, Just wondering if I can order 2 packs? Cheers Mark
  9. I'd stay clear IMO. The whole car looks very average. Unless you are buying as a base for a track hack....
  10. Just go nuts with the wax before hand. Bring about 5L of water and a microfiber towel.
  11. CB radio channel for the cruise is still UHF14?
  12. Probably try a nissan dealership - best buy a stock clutch, at least the part will be guaranteed to be correct. off topic - wow an RB20E - how's the economy? Wouldn't be difficult to drive ie. rather slow.
  13. Are you sure the head gasket is the problem? ie. oil/water mixing and poor performance. Issue could be something else and an easier/cheaper fix. If you have to go to all the hassle and labour of changing the head gasket (I imagine you would maybe change the timing belt, tensioners and water pump while you are at it), it's better to just get a good RB25DE as a direct swap - they can be had for cheap or buy an RB25DEt if you have a bit more coin to spend.
  14. For getrag 6 speed manuals in the R34 and Toyoyta Supra - you have to use Transmax Z (auto) fluid or equiv.
  15. You haven't worked on a 1g-fe, now that has a hard oil filter to change. RB is a walk in the park. To the OP - Welcome aboard
  16. All good man. I don't live too far away. SMS me if you still need help - I'll see what I maybe able to do. But definately try what Birds said. Good luck with it.
  17. I stopped by at 8PM. No answer at the door and I called too.... I can't wait around
  18. I'll drop by and have a quick look-see.
  19. Got one of those for my skyline - Brilliant and best value IMHO. Reminds me of the LCD on the stack branded guages. There is no graphics or anything like that - Just plain text - Which is fine for me, but some people out there want pretty graphics and animations.
  20. Male, 25 years old. Started with a 1983 910 series Datsun Bluebird (hand-me-down) and used as a daily - but has now been retired for restoration. Bought an R34 sedan, always wanted a skyline since I was a kid, had no idea the difference between a GTR and a regular Skyline - watching the Bathhurst Skylines destroy the Fords and Holdens. Bought a sedan out of need vs. want, coupe would have been the best. I was actually tossing up between a commodore and a skyline coupe..... Ended up with something that's a cross of both cars. Still drive it till this day as a weekender/sunny day car. Had a lightly modded Alfa159 Q4 for 6 months - nice car - but 1st to 2nd gear changes was cluncky, drank lots of fuel and I didn't feel "at one" with the car. Currently driving an IS200 as an daily, nimble and very comfortable - but slow.
  21. Dental floss, because it's waxed and flatter than fishing wire.
  22. I got an odd request out of curiosity (might even consider it). Do you do n/a skylines?
