  3. The bearing noise would be there all the time man, there is no way that you feck a bearing and only hear it at a certain RPM. i work with them all day lol.
  4. They are never useless, its just ideal to upgrade them when you do the turbos. larger dumps mean a quicker spool up and in most cases more power
  5. yeh those prices included pulling the old turbos off, O2 sensor, gaskets and i also got them to check my engine through and through to make sure the ceramic dust didnt get sucked back into the engine im thinking about getting some 2nd hand GT2860-7s.... not sure tho.... heslo im with you!

Lol its a funny story...... i was driving home from the mechanic (oil/oil filter and plugs changed), i was making incredible time to get back to my mates house for the Grand Final (f**king mooney what a disgrace). i was turning onto Pt wakefield Rd and then..... *BANG*..... eh???? wtf was that?? next thing i know Boost was nil stock lol... thought it was a cooler pipe or something but nay lol dont mean to high jack lol
  9. Haha yeh maybe 1 day.... My options with the turbos are as follows..... 2nd hand GTR turbos for about $1500 (inc labour) 2nd hand GTR Hi-Flowed turbos $3700 (LMAO WTF) GT2860 -7s or GT2860 -5s for $4100 im going with the -7s on a STK GTR lmao with a 3" cat back zorst.

  11. I had like the same problem and thought it was a leaking joiner but *bum bum* blown rear turbo Gratz on finding the problem tho, nothing worse than knowing something is fecked and not knowing what it actually is
  12. AFM is the common problem but in my experience it didnt solve my problem. id def try swapping in a another stk ECU and see how you go. i think it solved mine but my rear turbo just blew so i havent really had a chance to "test" it out properly yet
  13. o shit.... more f**king money.... ill get my mech to take a good long look at the internals and make sure it hasnt damaged the rings etc.... or basically give me an estimated time of death of my current engine..... i cant believe something so small can cause so much damage..... its f**king BS. thanks for the insight tho

Im sorry to pull up an old thread but.... im in the process of buying a set of either -5 or -7s (for some reason they are the same price??? so it warrants some research) basically im buying the new turbos because Ive just joined the "ZOMG there goes my rear turbo" club. so im running stk everything but a cat back exhaust. eventually ill get another ECU, dumps, front pipe and search for about 300kws. my question is, what turbos will be more responsive with minimum mods? -5 -7? also what will suit my 300kw application better? cheers
  15. sorry let me reiterate.... "at a first look" he said the engine sounds/looks ok, no visible damage. they did a compression test today 170,171,170,159,161,170 so 4 and 5 are down by a total of 20 but to me that pretty good for a 20 year old car. and no damage to the internals!!!! some good news lol. now i just need to decide 2860 - 5 or - 7???? any1?

  17. if you have just used your car there will already be fuel in the lines so you wont hear the pump prime every time you start it. could be the CAS or the ignition module? get them tested. Its a start
