Limiters off ECU very conservative 295rwhp RB20
bbenny replied to bbenny's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah its a bloody rocket! i love it, it pulls harder than alot of GTR's i have driven so im very pleased i wonder what time ill get at WSID. i really want to get into the 12's but i think i might be dreaming a little on street tyres. but i have some soft suspension that should help. -
Limiters off ECU very conservative 295rwhp RB20
bbenny replied to bbenny's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I set the ign timing really low for two reasons. 1. i have a shit timing light i cant really trust, and didnt have time to get it sorted before the dyno. 2. i wanted it to be super conservative because i plan on taking it to WSID a few times. I will hit the dyno again and try smooth out the midrange A/F ratio with the SAFC and maybe give it a tad more timing, just so it creeps over the magical 300rwhp mark I didnt get to play with my adj pulleys unfortunately. just on the setting i listed above, so i dont know the exact difference they made. These were on my stock injectors with 2530, the first pretuned chip with high fuel pressure saw the A/F ratio up top below 10! so they can flow a fair bit. -
Well i finally got a pre-tuned chip from Toshi, basically had the fuel/boost limiter and speed limiter removed. Here are the results, i kept things pretty tame with only 10deg advanced base timing with adj pulleys set at 2deg advanced inlet and 3deg retard on exhaust. I think i really need to invest in a PFC to straighten out my A/F ratio and get a better power curve. let me know what you think. Ben.

Hey everyone or anyone. Wed night street meets are back, and my car is set to hit the strip for the first time. Will there be any other SAU forum members attending this meet, or anyone interested in comming along? go to www.wsid.com.au for info or http://wsid.blakeandmuresan.com/pdfs/Entry...-StreetMeet.pdf to get an entry form. I hope to see a few skylines out there giving it a shot aswell! post your interest! Ben.

haha no i didnt take it like that no i went and spoke to several workshops and they didnt beleive the tight inlet would have caused such a prob, if it did it would have seized very quickly after driving. so i think that ecu and adj cams should see the GTR cams working.

Heaps of R32 GTS-T bits
bbenny replied to bbenny's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
there is no measurable flow restrictions riverside. it feels alot better than the std front pipe and can guarantee it flows better than that. cerealkiller i will email you the pics after work today. -
problems sound similar to a dodgey aftermarket BOV i know on my car with an aftermarket BOV if i rev the engine and let the revs drop free the engine will stall 9 out of 10 times. otherwise it defenantly sounds like some sort of inlet air leak

RB20, GTR cams, injectors, Z32 AFM, std ecu. OK runs
bbenny replied to Ahh32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
good luck ahh32. i look forward to hearing your results. since then i went back to std cams with adj pulleys and the pulleys alone made a big difference, today i fitted a pre-tuned chip and my car feels like a damn rocket! so i imagine yours is going to be awesome! -
Waz32gts, i have no other issues with my engine. it is perfect.

greysky, read the thread i started a while back. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=38857 a basic answer is they physically fit in place without any problems, however adj cam gears and aftermarket management is needed to have the engine running properly. i didnt have these and found my car wouldnt hold idle or run very well below 3000rpm
-
yeah i think there is a misunderstanding here the cams or camshafts are the long rods with lobes on them that sit in the head. I think you are talking about cam pulleys or cam gears, they are the round cogs on the end of the camshaft. Hope that sorts it out cereal killer.

Hey just after some info on buying some pipe bends so i can put together a new cooler pipe with the 120deg bend. Would i be best off visiting exhaust shops locally or is there somewhere better?? thanks! Ben.

i tried fiddling with the IAC crazyman, didnt change anything.

Offers-offers-offers Gtr R32
bbenny replied to exXU1's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
interested in injectors. would you be willing to sell them seperately? PM me a price. thanks Ben. -
i had the exact same prob with my bleed valve, they do all sorts of strange things! originally mine wouldnt run anything below 15psi and if i had the adjustment knob wound all the way to the lowest setting it wouldnt close the wastegate actuator properly between shifts. making it feel super sluggish. in the end i drilled the bleed hole out and resized the restrictor with a matched peice of brass. bloody fiddley but fixed the problem.

yeah you need the adaptor for nissan fuel rails. you can choose the fittings to go with whatever SARD regulator you choose. you will have to get the adaptor for the nissan rail regardless. they are super easy to install.
-
can the RB25 use GTR cams? i was under the impression they only matched the RB20? let me know how it goes. good luck.

well i finally got my painted rocker covers back last night and reinstalled the std cams with adj pulleys and damn its good to have my baby back again! the adj pulleys make a big difference, havent had it on the dyno yet, but seat of the pants change is noticable. it also makes an extra 3psi of boost and seems like throttle response is much better. hope to have it on the dyno and a tuned chip installed by next week. ill let you all know how it goes. check out the cover colour... what you think?

Adj cam gear questions (just to be sure)

Adj cam gear questions (just to be sure)
bbenny replied to bbenny's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
surely someone knows this! please reply! thanks -
well im beggining to think that maybe the reason mine wouldnt hold idle was due to the increased effort needed to turn the engine as the inlet cam was very stiff to turn. If it wasnt that then it has to be the standard ECU.
-
haha Matt i know your pain, but i have a nagging girlfriend instead of a wife.. so i just threaten to dump her if she says anything bad about my car! But like you my car has sat too long and i cant afford a retune or PFC at the moment. oh and the reason it was stiff, was actually due to the camshaft clamps being on the opposite way around, as in they needed to be turned 180deg. they were in the right order, just not the right direction! the worst part is i put them back exactly they way they were on in the first place! so some idiot once put them on the wrong way, anyway they are smooth like butter now, and im sure that the GTR cams would probably WORK!!!!!! but i have already promised them to someone and spent the money on adj cam gears! So looks like ill get my car running and give the GTR cam thing another shot sometime in the future. So good luck to all those that are still going ahead with it. you will prob find it works regardless of you ECU type.
