Hello everyone, yes i know this has been covered before in a similar sense. I have read those threads. But i'm really here to ask what in the hell are the exact differences between these two ECU's. The software is almost identical, the amount of inputs and outputs are identical, the connectors to the ECU's are identical, Their capability seems to be the same. The only real difference i can see is the branding and the colour of the cases. I'm wondering which one to go for, not based on a price comparison or if my tuner can tune them. Just the reasons (if any) i should favour one over the other. I have had a quick read through both ECU manuals, it seems that one 'company' has pretty much done a copy and past from the other companies ECU manual for their own ECU manual. A lot of it is word for word. However i have not ready both manuals all the way through so there may be some differences in there. Anyone able to help? I need an ECU with stacks of inputs and outputs that i can fully configure. Which is why i'm looking at these two.

Dry Sump Install, Internal Pump Same?
kitto replied to Aku34gtr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just rip the gears out of your factory oil pump, and plug the two galleries in the block that are for the oil pump. -
Rb26 / 30 Knocking Sound W/ No Load, Big End Bearing? [Vid]
kitto replied to ST240's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah, sounds like one of the rod bearings has just started to spin, but it doesn't sound overly bad. I'd pull the motor out, rip the sump off, inspect all the bearings and crank. You never know you might get away with just replacing the shells if you havn't scored the crank. -
What Oil Pressure Do You Have At Around 6000Rpm
kitto replied to The Bogan's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
High oil pressure is better than low oil pressure. 90 lb @ 6,000rpm is pretty good though. Shows that your engine wasnt built with stupidly large clearances. -
Haha yeah, i paid $880 or something

Want A Steampipe Copy Of A Manifold Made, Who Builds Them?
kitto replied to Dobz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Declan at Garage 7 might do it for you. -
Hmm swore standard RB25 was 8.5:1. CP pistons for the Neo are now an off the shelf stocked item.
-
Standard R33 RB25DET is 8.5:1, NEO 25DET is 9.0:1.
-
How about an RB25 or 26 Block, 26 crank, 25/26 conrods but use NEO pistons to bump up the CR. The extra 2mm of stroke will bump up the compression ratio (you'd need to use a calculator to work out the final compression ratio). But a NEO is 9.0:1 factory so you'd gain a reasonable amount from that stroke. It may go too far though and cause the piston to stick too far out of the deck. Possibly hitting the quench pads. You definitely wouldn't want a heavily shaved head or block. Just an idea, it might be easy to get it to work, or it might be nearly impossible.

Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
kitto replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ahh ok yep. I've pretty much got the entire rest of the oil system sorted. Massive sump is done. I'm now down to how to set up the cam covers and the catch can(s). -
Were you born yesterday or something?? I'd actually say the 26 is more of a time bomb over the NEO. Especially the R32 RB26. Not to mention the fact that there is more stuffing around to fit an RB26 into a RWD car.

Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
kitto replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nice work mate. Did you notice a considerable difference after you did this mod? Or did you change a lot of things at once and couldn't really tell? Whats the big extra outlet for? I'd like to do something like this, disassembling the covers and tapping them out to M4 isn't too hard for me, but any aluminium or stainless welding is a bit harder having no TIG or TIG skills. -
Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift

What have people done to easily modify and improve the baffling in RB25 cam covers? The RB26 ones are good as you can just buy the MINES kit, but with a factory plenum you can't fit RB26 rocker covers as they are too tall. Has anyone done an effective, easy and cheap modification to the cam covers? Unfortunately the RB25 baffles and riveted in making it a bit difficult to disassemble. The covers are one of the last things i need to look into for my oil control. -
Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
kitto replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
No its good, they are good. The sump unfortunately didn't fit when i received it. It ended up being they didn't follow my specs to the dot and the sump ended up fouling.. However i explained the issue and John happily said send them back with the issue marked on the pan and we'll fix it. He even paid for the postage from me to them. Which i was impressed with. I was quite happy with the service. Definitely a work of art thats for sure! They are flat out and John takes a little bit of time to respond to emails. I got the club circuit pan built to my specs to fit into an R31 engine bay with about 6 fittings on it. -

Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
kitto replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'm doing this exactly. Finding an off the shelf metal AN pipe is the hard part though. I'm also running a drain (vent) from the rear of the head to the driver side of the sump, i've drilled out all the drains in the head and block to 9.5mm, die ground out the rear block and head drains. I'm also venting the driver side of the sump to the top of the catch can with a -12 fitting. I dont plan on draining the catch can back into the sump. Is anyone able to tell me exactly how using two separate catch cans in series works and its advantage. Cheers. -

R34 Rb25 Head + Turbo / Manifold
kitto replied to nisbne's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Location? Keenish on head. -
Tomei or Nitto are both good. I hope you have a crank collar fitted? The newer updated revision Nitto pumps now have the gears durafinished. Its a type of metal conditioning. The big advantage of the Tomei is the ability to adjust oil pressure without removing the pump. If your going to use one of these pumps, make sure you have a large sump and your oil drainage from the head is good.
-
I'd say that the cost of porting will out-weigh the gains. If you want a good manifold, the only one you should go for would be a steam pipe manifold that wont ever crack.
-
Well i just made it 88. Surely there are people out there who are searching for this manual in english? Is anyone on here a member of other skyline forums? Maybe we can start a petition for people to sign up for it that actually want it.

This is a good start... How the hell do we translate that mother f**ker

Ill grab a pair! -
Thread revival. I'm looking for a workshop manual for a NEO engine as well. The specific things that relate to the head mainly. Does one exist? I have no idea why there isn't an engine section in the R34 workshop manual.

Tomei pumps still fail unfortunately. I just got off the phone with Nitto. Guy I spoke too was super helpful. They are still testing these new spline drive pumps. They rekon they are pretty happy with it now. But until they are 100% they wont release it, understandable... No definite date for release, but a ball park was a few months.
