Hi guys, Has anyone replaced their exhaust middle muffler with a resonator? If you did, what happened to the noise levels? I've got an R34 GTT sedan with an R33 HKS Super Drager (the one with the massive rear muffler) modified to suit, but the middle muffler is sitting really low and regularly scraping. I'd like to replace it with a resonator (to run under the transmission tunnel) but I like the relative quietness of the exhaust system as it is, so I don't really want to make it louder... Also, what catalyser would you recommend to flow 300rwkw? Needs to bolt on to 3" flanges. I'm thinking a 200cpi metal cat of some kind. I've got an X-Force ceramic high flow currently but it's suspected of restricting flow. Thanks!

A quick update on this, I had the conversion done at Advanced Jap Auto, they did a good job. Some advice for new players, do not piece together a manual conversion kit yourself if you can help it, it's a massive headache chasing down all the separate parts. And just to answer my own questions above, yes you can reuse the auto gearbox mount and cross member, as well as the shifter trim (although it won't look very pretty).

The original Pedders quote seems pricey to me, especially considering what these cars are worth. I was looking at this a couple of years ago, cheapest OEM replacement suspension I could find was around $800 mark and a set of BC BR's was about $1100. I went with the latter and very happy with them (custom spring rates). These are pretty easy to install at home with basic tools and plenty of WD-40. My car's a 4-door as well, happy to give further details if needed.

Front End Alignment In Melbourne
V28VX37 replied to develec's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
TruTrack in North Melbourne have always done mine, very happy with the service. They can do low cars, eccentric bushes, adjustable arms etc. etc. -
If you enjoy driving, don't get an auto. You'll pay more for a manual but it's worth it. So yeah 2 doors 4 doors turbo or not - get it in manual (And yes you can convert to a manual later but it's a massive hassle - been there done that...)

Thanks man. Yes I thought it might be the case that there's only one global gain setting. So mine is currently at setting 55 and gain 20 and peaks at around 1.35 bar. I feel that the tuner has a good job given the constraints of the EBC. The next thing I'll investigate is the possible restriction in the exhaust (cat) or intake (airbox, IC).

Diy R34 Manual Conversion Using R33 Parts
V28VX37 replied to E_Lu-SHuN's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Ok I've just checked the older posts in this thread and Ybenasty, R34mac and E_Lu-SHuN (OP) have all reported TCS not working after the conversion so looks like it's a common issue. Does anyone know how to fix/re-enable TCS when running a manual box with an auto ECU? -

Ok so I'm getting Code 17 'ABS-TCS control unit circuit' any ideas how to fix this? -
Thanks guys! I wonder if anyone else has a Dual SBC Spec-R configured with a Hypergear SS2, if so what settings do you run? I've just checked mine and it's set up as follows: Modes: 1 30 2 35 3 45 4 55 M 0 Off - Warn 1.40 S C 2 Other: Boost -48 cmHg (on idle) Peak 1.34 hkPa (= 19.4 PSI) Gain 20 It was set on channel 4 when I picked it up from the tuner so I assume that's matching the highest readings in the 266rwkw dyno run above. I will need to check with them if they played around with gain or not, don't really want to touch anything not to muck it up. Also I thought I could use this as a boost gauge but it's pretty hard to read , and the units are all over the place (what is cmHg??)... (Ps. I'm happy to move this to another thread if needed)

Ok still more questions, related to warning lights this time. The A/T light blinks when starting the car and then stays on, which was pretty much expected after a conversion. Is there a good way to disable it without pulling the bulb out? Also, after Wednesday's dyno runs the TCS and Slip lights are now permanently only, too I'll haven't checked the codes yet but has anyone had this after a conversion? I'm still running the auto ECU and the car is running fine.. -
Thanks for the chat yesterday Stao, awesome customer service indeed!! Yeah so the cat is a basic ceramic X-force high flow cat, I'm not sure about the cell count. That's the first thing to check. I've seen some 300+ results on the stock air box and would prefer to keep it on if I can. Beyond this the Trust turn flow IC might need to be checked but again I've seen someone report close to 300rwkw using it..

Here's a fresh result from yesterday, with the following changes to the car since the last run in October: Full manual conversion using R34 gearbox and parts Blitz Dual SBC Spec R electronic boost controller (the dual solenoid model) It ran 266rwkw on the same dyno as last time, compared to 257rwkw last time with the auto. I'm a bit disappointed with the result – I thought there'd be more than 3% difference between auto and manual? Also the EBC hasn't corrected the boost drop, what I wanted was a steady 20psi from when it goes on boost but we couldn't achieve that. Any ideas on what could holding it back? Original results and full setup below:

Cool thanks man! I'll ask them to re-bleed thoroughly and see if that helps, and if not check the thrust bearing again. The thrust bearing is brand new and came with the clutch kit, I assume that shouldn't be the cause but who knows. EDIT: And you're right, it says 5/8" on the bleeder nipple, found that in my pics. -
Diy R34 Manual Conversion Using R33 Parts
V28VX37 replied to E_Lu-SHuN's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Thanks mate, pics below! Not sure about master and slave sizes but they're both OEM, just wanting to confirm that they're R34 GTT and not R33 GTS-T. The workshop has installed and wired everything up but they're having trouble engaging the clutch and asked me whether the master cylinder is an R34 item. We are using an R34 gearbox and all R34 parts except for an R33 tailshaft front half. Brand new pull type NPC clutch. -

Thanks 533 RYC! The conversion is partially done but they've hit a snag with the hydraulics ... Does anyone know if R33 and R34 clutch master cylinders are interchangeable? If not, is there an easy way to tell which one I've got (based on a photo)? Cheers
