also I forgot to mention, the only thing I have seen crossfit glorify (apart from results) is spewing from the workouts. I don't think any sport would glorify people doing knees or shoulders. but to answer your question, I trained in a number of different martial arts back in the day, some of which certainly did glorify the injuries that you inflicted on others and the ones that I personally received was asked if I had learnt my lesson. Plenty of up and coming rugby league players stop playing at 16 and 17 because they have had to many shoulder reconstructions or knee reconstructions. I know of one kid by the time he was 16 he had had 2 knee reconstructions from playing league. Lesson - Injuries happen in all sports

you find elitist in every sport, I can remember not too long ago everyone bagging GHOSTy out for his views on power lifting. It was how he was, technically he wasn't wrong but not right in all aspects. I can only go off what my mate Ben told me, he doesnt claim to be the strongest or the fastest bloke around. I have no idea what he lifts or how many kipps he can do, all I know is he told me that he has never been in as good a shape as he is in now and all he does is crossfit. So, it works for him. Would i got to a crossfit gym and say i want to deadlift 300kg for 1 rep? no, but i might want to deadlift 100kg and then sprint 100m It really depends on your goal in the end imo. What I find really amusing is I have had this same argument when I was training in martial arts. Everyone who trained in different styles thought they had the best style and it was the best and I should stop doing what I was doing and do what they were doing. So again, I come back to whatever the person hopes to gain from training, train in that style. Boz you might just want to be really strong, crossfit would probably take you halfway there, but might also give you a world of other benefits. Where a program like PPP might make you strong so much faster but might not provide you with the other benefits that crossfit does or does not.

im not trying to tell you its the bees knees here boz, simply that it serves a purpose and does the job it sets out to. I could also argue all of the points you posted above and link it to different sports. The best comparison that I can come up with is to look at different martial arts. No matter where you train or if someone is training you, no matter what sport, if the instruction is shit it will result in shit practice. I get a number of tradesmen come through my factory doors, some good, some bad, all went to different Tafes and worked in different factories, same industry but different individual results.

personally I don't see how crossfit is any different from any other sport specific workout or even sport itself. my biggest grime with crossfit is how they claim its new and exciting when in fact its old as shit and marketed extremely well. but Boz if I was you, I would be thinking about what i hope to gain from working out and then decide what training method is best for you and where you should train. I guarantee if you go to cross fit thinking its shit then you will get shit out of it. Same story would be if you went to a PTC gym and got coached and thought its gay then you wont achieve. Mentally you more then likely wont put the effort in, unless you are one of those people who when told to jump ask how high?

Boz the workouts aren't random, they are designed to completely f**k the body. Remember crossfit isn't new and it isn't body building or strength training. They try to be strong and fit. Crossfit wont make you super strong as thats not what their only goal is, they do stuff like a bunch of deadlifts and then sprint just for fun. A guy I went to school with does it and competes, I spoke to him not long ago about it his words were "never been as fit in my life, never been as strong and never in my life had i ever had abbs" One crossfit gym I went to look at and spoke to a couple members, they were based in Holsworthy and part of the Commando regiment trust me when I say they were fit.

true that good on him for hitting the weight the next week tho

as much as we laugh at the whole feinting video (and it is funny), it could have ended much much worse then it did.
-
got to hate eating more just to see it waste through the dunny. gone from 1 - 2 dumps a day to 2 - 3 a day with my increase of calories. Also remaining roughly at the same weight.
-
doesnt leg press help improve both deadlifts and squats?
-
Went to PTC yesterday. Trent was not kind. Mobility exercises have left me in pain

Well another session on GAT's pre work out. Definitely increased focus. I was falling asleep at work before I had it, afterwards I felt more awake and focused and just ready for a hard work out. Managed 100KG dead lift at the end of the work out for 3 reps hopefully next week ill make 5 reps. And a little good news hit 73.5kg on the scales this week. Up from 72.2 previous weeks and after my normal long time spent on the shitter. Hopefully im breaking the 72kg barrier but wont really know for a couple of weeks
-
at least some good news then Leesh, what was the end prognosis on it?
-
I have used pre workouts in the past. 3x scoops of the old Jackd and I was still yawning in the gym and ready for bed by 9pm. The only thing I have ever used a pre workout for is a bit of a prep and some focus. Only ever noticed that on the days where I was really out of it mentally. This one that I tried, although I don't believe the amazing results that they claim, it tasted alright and I can assure you I was focused like no tomorrow. Will be interesting to see if it was just a one off or not as I have another 2-3 samples to try.

i know a guy who got on the gear. Didn't do anything right so he eventually lost all the size he gained. Anyway put on 12kg during the cycle (dont know how much actual muscle) basically said he was starving constantly, had so much energy, recovered from previous sessions so much quicker and was almost a walking boner.
-
Must have missed the whole not letting it stop me part.
-
didnt read into the marketing. GAT does market a bit like that, but I have read good things about their products. end of the day it was a sample, I gave it a go and first test was a good one. I have 3 or 4 more samples of it which I will try and report back on.
-
i dont normally take a pre workout simply because I have never noticed a difference in the past when I have taken them. only gave this one a try as the guy gave me a whole bunch of samples.
-
not saying its a massive issue, but my limbs are long and lanky, got to be a slight hindrance. wont let it stop me improving though
-
I do and have spoken to my specialist regarding them, he isnt worried at this stage. Just said limit them and if I feel bad on them stop taking them basically.

Got some samples of German American Technologies (GAT) Nitraflex, its a preworkout and F me I have never had a preworkout that made me focus so much on my lifts. Felt awake, focused and sort of driven. I have a few more samples that I'll give a go and see if the effect continues. http://www.teamgat.com/docs/NITRAFLEX_PWD.pdf Also, gym got a dedicated deadlift matt with some bumper weights and apparently a special bar for it (dont see the difference). Haven't seen many people actually use it, but I have done at least one set of deads every session because of it. The bumper weights are so much better then normal plates that the gym has.
-
well got one extra rep on my last attempt..... sometimes I hate having long limbs. Was good for boxing and mma but feel its a hindrance for lifting.
-
well done on the PBs
-
it will come back before you know it

Dont know the specs off the top of my head. its a HP Z400 workstation that was beefed up for gaming. Will double check next time I am on it.
