So your 300ZX is your current project car but on hold till your funds increase... Yeah I have driven my friends N/A Supra. 3lt inline 6 with a Getrag 6 speed. From memory I quite like that gear box as I recall it was very smooth. Too bad he had all his stereo shit in the boot and weight a tone. But now he has single turbo'd it.

If you don't thrash your car then there is no reason for the turbo to ridiculously hot to the point you can feel the heat burning your legs. IMO you stock heat shield will do you fine. I don't like the idea of wrapping the manifolds as it does not allow the heat to escape, but then some ppl will say, it is fine cuz the manifold is suppose to get hot and wrapping will not effect it. you stock heat shield will be fine.

He just bought a set of Tein Full Adjustable suspension from Aaron at Import Monster and will fit them in ASAP when they arrive. He just installed a high flow air filter (replace the stock panel filter with high flow one) he said it runs a lot smoother. I keep bugging him about an exhaust but he's not doing it yet. Whats EDFC? HELL YEAH!
