repossession, but what happened to front guard?
-
if you have squeaky brakes-- you're not using them as intended. a few laps around a track will sort it out.
-
Just want a bit more certainty than that, planning something for 2017. Doesn't sound like I will find out anytime soon.
-
So nothing on the actual Nismo GTR then?
-
Thanks for the reply. I called Col Crawford today (Sydney GTR dealer- i have bought a new one from them previously) and they said they had zero information on it, nothing on when/price or anything. Could you clarify who is taking orders? PM me if easier, thanks.
-
Has anyone RECENTLY enquired about if/when the Nismo R35 will arrive in Australia, and approx. pricing? thanks.
-
Pretty sure i have the (electronic) workshop manual somewhere-- if you search for it on the US forums you are bound to come across it. PM me if not.
-
I was thinking same. it would be great to see how even a mildy modded R35 with decent (non-factory) rubber and equivalently skilled driver would go around there
-
the car is 2% faster with how much % extra power and new tyres? and it's all aero? doubt it. the tolerance and variance is so small overall in reality, this is all marketing to get idiots to pay $100k more for a few extra bolt on plastic canards etc. seems to be working anyhow. cool car nontheless.
-
Great time. The styling of the nismo offering looks absolutely horrid. HSV horrid. They obviously do not understand what people are looking for. Great they are pushing the boundaries otherwise, I guess, although I suspect the driver and tyre are most of what is going on here..

Potenza Re070R R2 Rft - Where To Get Cheapest Quote
LSX-438 replied to SamFarrand's topic in R35 GTR
I have purchased through tirerack a few times. Shipping is not going to be cheap. Let's say $250. So is that $2000US or thereabouts? Let's do the sums: $2000US at lets say 0.95 USvAUD FX rate $2000 / .95 = $2105 Plus Duty and GST.. $2105 * 1.1 * 1.1 = $2547 Now with the uncertainty of the USA issues - if something goes wrong, why would you bother? Also, you'll probably have to pay some stupid customs agent fees. Tempe is the way to go. -
Potenza Re070R R2 Rft - Where To Get Cheapest Quote
LSX-438 replied to SamFarrand's topic in R35 GTR
I've purchased a few sets from Temp Tyres, nil issues. I think they willbe the cheapest/most convenient option all considered. Get 285's all round, they fit fine on the front rims, look better and you get more rubber for your money. Have you asked Nissan or a mainstream tyre dealer how much? I was quoted about $1100 each! That was a while ago however. -
A manual V8 is indeed more fun vs an R35 on public streets IMO. You can use much more of what the car is about, row through the gears, the noise, smell and sound, it's just more fun- without going warp factor 5. The R35 is just too quick, by the time you're having fun, the speeds reached in the datto will see you thrown into the clink if caught. R35 is awesome in the sense it will drive you to the track in plush comfort, and Camry manners (albeit boring) but then smash out a lap time that will embarrass most trailered in & gutted out race cars. On another note, I am driving a Golf-R atm for DD duties, and FWIW I have never driven a more boring car!

stocker studs will work fine. although i preferred the longer ones (i think made up by bosnjack engineering). btw, the fronts (or rear) oem studs are slightly longer that the other end, so if buying some from nissan get the longer variety (if replacing the entire set). btw2, if fitting (much) longer studs, you will have to take the hubs off to fit them. whereas stocker studs can be replaced without removing the hubs.
-
i used AP slotted and j-hooks for over two years tracking, and watched several others also, without incident and no warped rotors. the AP's will eventually craze/crack if pushed very hard but they will last 2x to 4x longer vs the OEM's We found the best street/track comrpomise pads were endless MX72's and more track oriented the ccRg's

WTAC regs seem fickle and designed for a manufactured outcome. There are plenty of other time attack / time trial events which have been around for years before and will be after, with a long history of well defined and reasoanbly fair regs. Don't become enamoured by the hype, just vote with your feet.
-
and you would be right. Dunno where 2.9G comes from.... MAYBE those where some peak numbers from their nordschleife runs but that number is entirely fictional, even on a track with the best slicks you will not see a number like that in this car.

Quick question: did your assembly come with wheel studs?
-
too late, courtesy part have sent a pair of hubs. i've swapped out the hubs a couple of times (fitting longer wheel studs) so i can do it myself (quickly and when it suits me) a least.
-
AFAIK, you cannot buy just the bearing. These prices are for the entire hub assembly. http://www.courtesyparts.com/40202m-hub-assy-road-wheelfront-gtr-r35-2009-2011-r/l-p-611795.html?cPath=7727_7930_8010_8011&

I've been using Martins R35 tune on and off the track for 3+ years with nil issues, happy to recommend
-
Recently i had my R35 in with Nissan for a warranty issue - they treated me quite well, considering i never serviced the car there. Anyway I asked how much for a single wheel bearing. Answer = $1000 (part price, no labour). Now off to courtesy parts, and they have quoted me $165 (for both left and right)!! Unfortunately i have to pay $230US shipping, but who cares given these price differences. Maybe the local Nissan guy has given me the wrong price, tempted to check because $1000 vs $82.50 ($165/2) would be bordering on criminal.
-
I think the rule may be based on purchase price OR market value, whichever is higher. http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/feesconcessions/stampduty.html They probably have a redbook style database of values. I wouldn't bother trying to lower the value too much beyond the approx. current market value, whatever that may be.

World Time Attack Challenge 2012
LSX-438 replied to handbrake's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
and whilst we are being logical, i honestly don't see the point in limiting to certain "DOT Approved" tyres. When you look at how wild front running WTA "cars" are they have virtually nothing to do with anything which is DOT approved or street legal whatsoever.
