  1. Numbers shown are open, closed and cam centreline. ATDC = after top. BTDC = before top. BBDC = before bottom. ABDC = After bottom. ACDC = Shite band much loved by bogans. Stock cams Intake 240 degrees 7 BTDC 53 ABDC 113 degrees Exhaust 236 degrees 63 BBDC 7 BTDC 118 degrees Tomei Poncam A Intake 260 degrees 20 BTDC 60 ABDC 110 degrees Exhaust 252 degrees 61 BBDC 11 ATDC 115 degrees Tomei Poncam B Intake 260 degrees 20 BTDC 60 ABDC 110 degrees Exhaust 260 degrees 65 BBDC 15 ATDC 115 degrees You can work out the overlap from there - basically the stockers dont overlap and the B's have 35 degrees of it. Having had them installed then removed I can confirm the Poncam B's take a massive hit on cyl;inder filling at idle.
  2. You have to differentiate between tyres/rims that contribute to what some perceive as looks and those that function well. The 20" HSV rims do neither IMHO. Bit like the cars themselves. As someone who uses 17" the reason is not because I believe them to be better than their 18" counterparts. They arent. The reason is that they are cheaper - about $500 a set cheaper for R compounds. R compounds, relative to road tyres, have very stiff sidewalls. Tyres with too low air pressure on the other hand, dont. A drag tyre is the extreme example. The sidewals are designed to give and thereby provide good traction. Oh and for what it is worth that if you have a proper rim/tyre package the rim is lighter than the tyre.
  3. Yes they were occasionally referred to as such. In the Holden tradition of grey, red & blue motors which were painted, um, grey, red & blue. Paint the thing whatever colour you like. The advantages of black are that it wont change colour when it gets hot & wont show oil/dirt/other crap so much. The advantage of hot pink is, in the main, that it matches your handbag. Mine does anyway.
  4. Actually that is not correct. The bit about Williams, you are on the money about Vettel being a polesmoker. Williams were always unrepentant about not giving a fk for developing drivers. They were happy to let others do it. As for the two in their cars (past & present) the policy is to let them fight it out. Ofcourse when you are 11th & 13th no one really cares anymore. Remember Piquet versus Mansell? Now that was management.
  5. Just to provide some info for anyone looking at this thread/issue. I bought some rear strut tops from ISC (See first picture). The fronts are also available with a rubber mount (you don’t have to have a bearing)but are on back order for the moment. Anyway they are very bling as you would hope. The only issue I had with them is the bush where the shock fits through the top. They are designed for a 12mm diameter shaft. (at that point - the rest of the shaft is typically a larger diameter - 16mm or thereabouts) The Bilstein shaft is 10mm at that point. Anyway I had a couple bushes machined up which makes the problem go away. The mounting differences between the two shocks is shown in the second photo. Note that on the stock top the cad plated bump rubber cap is mounted upside - just for clarity - don’t ever install them like that. The gain in shock travel is 34mm. Changing the small collar (see second photo) can change this dimension. You don’t lose any droop travel (Maybe a couple mm's?) as the standard top shock installation is still a little compressed at full droop anyway. Lastly the spring types are different. Stock spring is a 100mm ID at the top, reducing to 90mm at the bottom. Spring for the ISC strut top is a 65mm ID item. The back isnt so much of an issue as the front - just not got there yet.
  6. They have the same tread wear rating - 100 UTQG. Also the same construction. And yes, Toyo are the parent company for Nitto.
  7. AFAIK Nitto = Toyo. Also Tyre rack do not offer R compounds in anything you would not be ashamed of.
  8. So, um, how is Bruce these days?
  9. www.chevron.com.au They do most of the videos/DVD's. Probably best to send them an email.
  10. Yeah that is the one. His driving was brilliant, his dress sense - notsomuch. I had it stored somewhere (pre Youtube) but cant find it now.
  11. If the RE55 is no more then it looks like I will need something different. Either Yokies or Dunlops. May not have a choice anymore if Bridgestone dont get their sht together & offer something decent. I had always stayed away from the Yokies because of the A048s reputation & the Dunlops because I'm not a squillionaire. Toyos are hopeless on a heavy car. No idea where to source Dunlops from at a reasonable price in WA, however. From memory Wheels World does the Yokies (They sponser the SES & I cant remember the blokes name - how bad is that?) Wish my tub of lard weighed 900kg!
  12. Fair question. I guess the NSX's are expensive because they have held up well and are a cut above the usual Honda/Toyota/Nissan/MItsubishi offerings. There was once a really good video of Senna trying out an NSX at Suzuka (I think) The way he used the throttle through the corners was damned impressive. Worth looking at if anyone can find it.
  13. Surely though more weight requires more tyre pressure? A 1600kg (Full fat with driver & fuel) R32 would want/need a higher run pressure than an Emo.
  14. Yeah I know. I was just shitty because only yesterday I was looking at a series 8 and realising I could actually only ever fit into the fat shtbox Corvette parked near it.
  15. What the one with the Lotus engineered heads in the motor? As if Lotus know anything at all about engines other than how to fail timing belts and burn oil. As for the NSX looking old in the tooth - ofcourse it is. It is a 20 year old design. Atleast it was never really fashionable so misses out on the period peices - although the full width reflective strip on the rear is very 80's.
  16. God this annoys the crap out of me. There are two types of handbrake - of those the Skyline has an internal assembly using shoes. Putting the thing on after you have allowed a decent amount of cooling down of the rotors is fine. I have never yet seen a brake rotor ruined by an internal handbrake. If they looked like the one below fair enough - but they dont and its not. Oh and I thought the DBA rotors were supposed to be heat treated?
  17. I wouldnt worry about it Chris. Car looks a million bucks to me (Its Richard - the white R32 R from the SES). Not often you see Compomotive rims. Anyway sounds like you wont be at Collie?
  18. As much as I cannot figure out why anyone would ever want an auto NSX - guess that there are so many of the fkn things about tells you why Honda offered them like that. I was looking at one the other week. I reckoned given it is a 20 year old design it stands up really well. The car was in really good nick too - it had done something like 200,000kms.
  19. For the track. Get proper rotors. Get proper pads. Get proper fluid. Try & sort out some cooling air for the front rotors. Get a little heat into them on the out lap. Cool them as progressively as possible on the cool down. Change the fluid when it looks horrible. Check the pads for wear etc regularly. Check the rotors for wear and cracks regularly.
  20. You may, if you scratch around, find some that were imported under the 15 year rule. Not sure if you would want one, but they do exist. The resale on the local delivered examples is actually pretty high. For some reason alot of the are automatics. NFI why.
  21. Well let us know how you get on. Are they a new pad because I cant remember Project Mu doing something with that working temperature range. Local price is $444. Ow. I think I will order the 16mm pads (and wait a bit) then check them with a 2mm spacer.
  22. From zeckhausen The 16mm FDSR3028 w/o sensor slot is no longer available in the USA and possibly Europe, but the 16mm thick version with the sensor slot is available. I'm checking to see if it's sitting in the USA or if it has to be ordered from Italy. Meanwhile, I've added the 16mm thick pads to our part numbering system with a "-1" extension to differentiate from the 18mm thick pads. See: http://store.zeckhausen.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=82_85 Will let you know about availability shortly. For some reason, the thinner 16mm DS2500 is more expensive than the 18mm version, however the pricing is reversed with the DS3000, with the 16mm version being cheaper. Odd. Then: I just heard back from Essex - the importer of Ferodo into the USA. They state the FDSR3028H is not available and they do not stock the FRP3028H. It would have to be special ordered from Italy with a lead time of about 8 weeks.
  23. So one good race in two seasons of mediocrity & suddenly the pressure is on the other guy? Sorry mate but it looks for all the world like Webbers big year was last year. Maybe it is the new tyre but he is struggling massively this year. Bit of a harsh call on Sam Micheal? Do you, like, know people?
  24. Yeah I was just shit stirring Baron. Ferrari was rubbish because it was so disorganised. They should have won atleast half of the WDC's between Scheckter & Schumacher. Not like they were lacking for anything. Anyway on the upside Jody is busy these days: http://www.laverstokepark.co.uk/about-laverstoke-park
