Has anyone had much luck with United's version of 100?? Its available in more stations than the e85 and is the same price as 98 which is now only 12c more than e85. I have 2 servos near me that stock it and was thinking of getting the car tuned to run on it!

Hey Dave i wouldnt mind a copy of that CD. I used to listen to "get this" any time i could. Great show
-
Agree 100% here. Was by far the best show on radio

Actually your response will be a lot better with the smaller cooler on it. Put an r34 smic on it and wind up the boost a little. PS: i have one for sale!

I cant beleive how tough the road laws now. I got my P's back in 2000 and was a bit of an idiot. I remember doing a U turn in front of an unmarked cop and spining the inside wheel a little (commodore wagon) and then chirping around the roundabout 100m up the road (pretty late at night). I got pulled over and received 2 fines on the spot...failing to have full control, twice 1 min appart. Each fine was 1 point and $125. If i did that now i could have my car impounded!!! What a joke. Also remember a cope pulling me over cause "I looked suspicious" Anyway i had done nothing wrong and he realised that. He saw my car had an almost bald tyre and i had an aftermarket small steering wheel. He let me off on those and got me for my front P plate falling off the window......no points and $90 fine. Now its 3 points and $225 (i think). THREE points just for not having plates up!!!! I'm not even going to start on the thrusday and sunday night drags in the east and western industrial estates........... Victoria is turning more and more into a police state. I'm lucky i have had most of my fun already Your never going to stop young men having fun in cars.

Got done speeding around 5 years ago and lost my licence for a year. The cop that caught me was great and i thought that was the end of it. A few days later i had another cop come into my work and abuse me in front of other staff and then take me down to the station and accuse me of doing doughnuts in the work carpark (safeway supermarket). They said they had signed statements and video footage of me doing it!! I asked them what car i drove and they couldnt answer lol. I also knew that there were no cameras in teh car park. Anyway i got harrassed by this same copper for no reason for the next 3 months until i actualy moved interstate (for uni). He would wait next to my car at work (befor my actual loss of licence date) until i put my keys into the ignition and the put his sitrens and lights on, check my details, go over my car and then leave. I kept a brave face and used to smile when i would serve him at the bottle shop....he couldnt even look me in the eyes when he realised who i was. To this day i still have no idea why all that happend but this guy is now in search and rescue so i have nothing to worry about. To make things worse my old mans good mate was the senior sergent at the station but i never knew this at the time. Anyway its not worth it anymore especially trying to get to work without a licence.

I second using an r34 side mount...no use having a front mount if you dont need it. I also have a full 3" exhaust with an xforce rear muffler that had twin 2.5" outlets. No as loud as my previous 3" straight through but doesnt seem to be restricting power

Went to united yesterday. Reg unleaded $1.21, Plus 95 $1.18 E85 $1.19 Now that is a rip off!!!!

Done $5 Intake Mod And Still Sucking Shut -also Heat Issues
Bond replied to Bond's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I fixed my clutch fan today and the temp gauge is sitting lower although it wasn't as hot as yesterday. I did notice that the metal intake pipe connected to the throttle body was very cool even after some hard driving. It is normally very warm even hot! I also changed my plugs to bcp.7...It had the bkp..7. in there. No more missing under boost . Cheers -

I pulled the intake pipe off today to check what had been done by previous owner. Everything seemed it was done the right way. I think it has been sucking shut on the bend just b4 the turbo as it felt quite soft and fairly easily squished by hand. I ended up cutting a peice of pipe i had sitting around and putting it in fairly close to the turbo and clamped it in place. Took it for a spin and its now reving freely to redline again YAY!! Also i pulled over and popped the bonnet and gave it a few revs and the clutch fan is working very well and drawing a heap of air. I might go put a new thermostat in tomorrow and see how it goes. How is everyone else keeping an eye on their temps if the standard gauge shows no signs of running hot? James -

Does anyone make a metal intake pipe that fits up to the standard airbox? -

I will have a look at the clutch fan tomorrow. They are very easy to fix if there isnt any major leaks. -

I dont know if the clutch fan is stuffed as i have not owned another skyline and not sure on what temp it should be, hence the post. Temp gauge reads normal. Plenty of ppl here running a lot more power with standard airbox and similar filter. Anyone know the size of the standard piping? I may have some bits around. -
Got car tuned after fitting a front mount and it hits a wall at 5800rpm. Took it for a spin with a laptop hooked up and the AFM voltage drops suddenly at the stated rpm. I have already done the $5 intake mode but the rubber bends felt really soft in todays heat and could be squashed easily. What are my options here? Also with the laptop hooked up i could see my water temp rise to around 100 degrees. I did have the ac on but not giving it a lot (33 outside). The gauge inside was still showing just under half as normal. Is it time to fix the clutch fan? (my patrol has the same clutch fan and it howls when its this hot outside) Thanks in advance James

Unfortunately people die on the roads everyday and it generally doesnt change attitudes and if it does its usually in the short term. No excuses for drink diving though.

Why not just ban cars??

There is no doubt it will flow and cool better but initial response will have to be effected (just look at the bigger core and more piping that has to be filled). At 200rwkw the smic was fine and did a great job so i dont see how a front mount for daily driving is needed (in cold melb). I will comment after retune though, as i like to be optimistic. I'm not sure what is left to do after this as i should be seeing the limits of my turbo after the next tune
-
I fit a front mount so the smic is now for sale (look in sale section) There is a noticable amount of lag now (doesnt ramp up as quick) so unless your aiming for over 200rwkw i would stay with the side mount.
-
R34 SMIC taken off my car after about 2 months use. Will easily handle 210rwkw and a lot less lag than a front mount. Pick up prefered in Melbs west but can deliver at buyers expense. $160
-
Dont buy a front mount if you dont need one!!!!!! Great response in a fairly standard setup!

I use BP98, Mobil 98 and united 98. Find no difference between either of them. Unless your sitting on the freeway doing the exact speed and accelerating up to speed the same you cannot tell the difference. You might floor it harder for longer 3 times more in 1 whole tank of driving.....you might drive for an hour longer in slightly warmer weather which should make it run slightly richer (depending on ecu). In terms of knock the turn over the servo has plays a big part in the age of the fuel. Try to fill up at servos that a fairly busy.

I have an r34 SMIC which i have had on my r33 for around 2 months. I made around 235rwkw on 16psi (gt3040) but turn boost down to 14psi to be safe. Should be good for around 215-220rwkw! Perfect cheap upgrade Intercooler is in great condition and has been cleaned inside and out. Prefer pick up (Melbs west) but can arange postage at buyers expense $160 No pics as it looks like a standard r33 smic but a little bigger. Bolts straight in to original position.
