i thought th same thing when i was being raced by a fool in a silver 430 in bankstown on friday night. we were just cruising next to each other, then he floored it for 0.0000001 second and he was already 3 car lengths infront of me, then he slowed down next to me and did it like 5 times, abit of a wanker but a very impressive car.... baqsically sounds like a japanese race bike with straight pipes. WHo says dealing drugs doesn't pay? He was a wog in his early 30's in bloody bankstown lol even to rent one they are an arm and a leg, gota be over 30 or 35, $25000 deposit bla bla bla....
  4. i had same prob as him EXACTLY and thats how i fixed it, amp and capacitor..... even if its not the head unit running too hot, my method of capacitor will fix it if its power supply prob. Either way i'm still right and I had the same problem as him exactly, this is how i fixed it, will work for him. either way running the other speakers from a cheap external amp instead of the crappy inbuilt 18-20ish rms built in amp is a billion times better/safer/clearer than running of the head unit if he is going to pump the sound as often and as loud as he says he does, constantly stessing the head unit, in the end he will end up melting the kenwood amp in the headunit in time anyway.... i have already done this in a cheaper brand sanyo head unit, that didnt have rca's so i had to then change the whole headunit (cost more than a cheap amp) anyway. and looking back at original post looks like its 99% chance your alternator is going to shit itself and/or your current battery is about to die. When my battery died when i had the capacitor connected to it i had no warning that the battery was old because the battery is in the boot (looks good clean and new), and no power problems untill there was NO acid left in the battery at all. The capacitor kept the car going as usual right untill there was no battery acid left in it. turns out the battery was a japanese brand battery that went broke and closed its doors in the year 2002 so the battery was super old. More than likely it must be the battery because the alternator cannot produce enough amps at a specific time to handle a sudden power drain (from sub). The battery would take over for most of the power being supplied and the alternator just keeps topping up the battery and supplying extra power when the battery drops....
  5. nothing to do with any of that. simply its the head unit's built in amp getting too hot. Only way to avoid this is connect the rest of your speakers to a cheap four channel amp. My head unit used to turn its self off for the same reason, only difference is my head unit used to say "too hot" and would stop for a minute. Nothing to do with your sub or amp, but get a capacitor in the mean time to keep a constant level supply of power to your amp. in the mean time don't run your speakers at full blast untill you get an amp for the speakers or you risk destroying the built in head unit amp. your spekers quality will start to get worse over the next few months depending how loud and how often you play it loud. If it was a power supply problem you wouldnt have much bass at all, and your system will be run by distortion.
  6. i dont know about your car but my r33 has oil temp indicator on the dash cluster aswell as my own oil temp that i installed seperate. Did you notice the dash cluster go up aswell??? most likely its the temp gauge mistake, or were you drifting it to your mates place for 20km lol
  7. yup one in a million
  8. lol f*kng funny
  9. +1 for just jap bell mouth, unless your going to run massive 350+ rwkw theres no use getting a split pipe...
  10. are any of these pod covers for standard pipeing? i got a 96 r33 gtst but i got just jap stealth cooler that uses standard intercooler pipes.... all the boxes i seen are for aftermarket pipes....
  11. spotted a black r32 at tempe tyres today bout 1pm with sau sticker on front windscreen, number plate GTS 72L hot looking car
  12. crd seems to be loved by many, i'll give them a go next time. Thanks guys
  13. spotted a white r33 on penno hills road this arvo at bout 7ish, missing the spoiler... also at the same time saw 2 old asian ladies argueing bout car accident at the side of the road on penno hills road near BP carlingford,
  14. just an update, puddle of oil on my driveway when i left home tonight.... definately not going back, either its left over oil from when it dripped from the sump plug (should have been cleaned like my other mechanic used to do, just sprayed it with air hose and a rag), or they didn't tighten the plug properly, most probably they didnt bother wipeing the excess. Pure lazy work at more than premium price... Should have gone to a lebbo back yarder and had the same job done except he'll charge me cheap for a shotty attempt. why oh why did my other mechanic have to close down, $90 with elf and he'd even change my wiper blades and clean the leftover oil... bloody economy crashing and he cant import at a profit anymore...
  15. think you hit the nail on the head
  16. i should have gone just jap, only thing that put me off is last october when i asked them to do some things they said they don't have time untill next year some time... still should have given them a go, i like just jap
  17. Just got back from a simple task of getting my oil chaged in my r33 gtst. Long story short i couldn't be botherd doing it myself seing as i'd have to go out and buy a stronger jack, car stands, (cannot drive my car up car ramps), fidle around with oil filter, dispose of oil, don't have a level ground anywhere to jack the car up anyway.... so i decided to get a mechanic to do it thinking they could do it faster and at a decent price. I was quoted $120 by a mob at Seven Hills which i will not reveal the name on the forum. Oil is changed and car is ready to go in 35minutes. I asked them about a noise from the diff or gearbox, they took it for a 2 minute drive and confirmed what i already knew "your gear box is alittle noisey, nothing to worry about". Fair enough already knew that just wanted confirmation. They unbolted the oil bolt in the diff to check the oil (another 30second job since this was done when the oil was still dripping out of the car) and oil was fine. Then when they changed the oil filter the sandwich plate (that they previously installed on the car came off, still should have been another 2 minute job and it was their mistake seing as they originally put it on and no one has touched it untill the same mechanic took it off) anyway i'm assuming that these extra 4 minutes of total work would already have been included in their already overpriced quote... boy was I wrong!!! $186ish for their stuffing around and their mistake. I'm wanting to get my car up to 300rwkw in the next 12months and ive been searching for a shop for 12 months already. so to get my car up to 300rwkw properly would cost about $10g or their abouts???? Forget using these guys they'd f#*k around with it for months, take their time and end up costing double that price if my previous experience with them is repeated on a larger scale. Either way its money they wont get from me, Especially seing as the performance industry has hit a brick wall with respect to the current financial climate. Still cant get over they asked for $186 for a bloody simple oil change. In the end their loss of being able to build my car. Also its not just me that has a bad experience with them, i over heard a phone call from someone who had their car in the shop and they were complaining about how much extra it cost them to build the car even though they had a quote of the work done.... and the extra cost ontop of their quote from what i heard was $15g extra than the quote. I kept my cool while i was their and just paid it to get my car back coz i had things to do this arvo, but the more i thought about it the angrier i grew and i can't understand how places like this stay in bussiness and legitamate bussiness go broke. I haven't said any names, nor have i made any lies, so I don't believe this should be taken of the forum. Its a warning to get a written and a signed quote before any work is done on your car, no mater how small it is. and i still need to find a decent workshop that is genuwine, don't say hills motor sport because i have been their no less than 5 times and they guys just don't want to know me, ive approached them from changing the clutch, to servicing, to installing exhaust, front mount and a install and tune of a powerfc. Even though my dad owns a warehouse in the same complex...
  18. So thats why my exhaust doesn't scream like most other skylines... its loud but not as loud as allot of others, and it tends to gurgle more than scream.... also www.shiftperformance.com.au they at lansvale and used to rave about them
  19. its upto the administrators to keep out the filth and give people warnings or suspensions if they continue to insight a fight or an arguement. The most of us are decent people, usually the trouble makers specifically sign up to argue, you can spot these people by being non SAU members who on their first few posts try to make an arguement or knock a group of people to start a debate. I'm pretty sure the admins will keep a close eye on what is said in the NSW section, they always do. offcorse there will be some "cop bashing" when people are frustrated, but i'm sure it will be better tastefull than NS also can't believe you compared us to NS in the first place, should get a warning for that lol jkz
  20. 650-750 is meant to be factory idle for standard car..... i had mine up at about 850 when i last changed my oil, now its doen to 750 with old oil.... 1000 is alittle too high unless its heavily modded.... just lengthen the cable of the accelerator cable..... problem fixed
  21. was followed down george street today at about 11am by an asian guy in a yellow R34gt with green P's also spotted the newer style white stagea at victoria road drummoyne near the stool shop, seen it there before so obviously works near there. this arvo at about 5pm spotted a mean black R32 (possibly a gtr) driving the opposite way to me on oaks road west penno... for a second thought it was slim again but it didnt look like it on second glance
  22. I was out all the days driving around day and night coz its my daily, Hardley saw anything friday, sat.... sunday driving from Menai to the hills i saw atleast 15 or more different copper vehicles, followed by 2 bike copps at different times, they looked at the car and didnt bother doing anything else. also at silverwater road under the m4 bridge witnessed 3 highway patrol cars drag race in a line, the green commonwhore beat the 2 white falcons, broard daylight, no sirens....bla bla bla and they call us hoons?????
  23. I never got it but i am still inlove with the kicker solobaric L7. I chose 2 mtx 5500's instead because it was a much better price for me 4 years ago. Pick them up with a ported box from kicker for under $500, off memory they were 650ish rms. basically the L7 is like 2 of my mtx's combined in one smaller and light weight unit. Just set your amps subsonic filter and that properly and you shouldn't have any probs running it from your 1000rms amp. Anyway it will sound very clear since the amp can easily handle the subs demands, no distorted peaks getting cut off and all that.... Still impressed by it today, and if my mtx's ever give out i'd probably get a couple of solobarics to replace
  24. i find them all pretty much the same,,,,, still i cant stand shell, different colour = not exactly the same, there is still a difference between shell and the rest acording to how my car behaves, even though its derived from the same source....
