Doesn't have to be though, lemme say a supercharged engine is more fun to drive...though you dont get the big turbo rush feeling as much. A larger displacement n/a engine is also great fun especially if it revs freely/well. My n/a line has 185rwkw, and for mountain passes and street, it honestly is more than enough. I hardly ever get to stomp on it. If you plan to track attack alot then obviously you'd want more power as long as the rest of the car will balance out with the power. Anyways have fun and stay safe.

Lol, you're driving an n/a buddy...get used to being the underdog. Frustrating at times but ah well.. you get sweet sounding revs and awesome response.

Sounds like you're after mine... *goes make sure it's locked and immobilised* Good luck with hunting one down. I got lucky on mine, sunroof too! Quick ? I'd say...quickish stock. Nimble ? Not quite...they are over 1500kgs. The front midship layout does feel very agile IF you take into account the 1500kg+ weight and it handles quite well, but it is not an agile feeling, more a stable feeling. Let us know how you go!

Best i can think of that's jap is a V35 skyline. I'd say 350z but i think they're on the p plate ban list in nsw. The v runs a 206kw vq35de and does 6.6 to 100 stock. My V is currently at 185rwkw and does 0-100 in 5.6s. It's shamed a few turbo cars actually including lines.. Anyways, not on Ps.. just a fan of n/a. For some good n/a fun, how about a dc2 integra type r/mitsu fto gp version r ?

Try PMing V35Paul... he had front+rear and skirts for sale recently from bodykit install i think. Bonus, he's in silver too.

Improve Top End Without Sacrificing Bottom End.
Touge Kyousou replied to R34Liner's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The lack of backpressure will actually help high end and not low end (really generally speaking, tonne of variables on exhaust backpressure on n/a applications). His pod if setup well will be helping his high end but making him lose low end likely. Your exhaust plus extractors should be helping your high end. To be honest, with your mods i expect your high end to be strong, not low down. Have you checked the gear ratios and final drive ratio of the gt-t box vs the gt box ? The gt-t box will likely be geared for an engine with much stronger torque so that once it's on an n/a, it becomes mismatched. To answer your question, Try getting some form of ecu tuning (reflash, piggyback, stand alont, interceptor etc). A good tuner should be able to unleash a few good kw's from your mid and top considering some of the mods you have. You might need to upgrade your air intake to keep up with the flow of your extractors and exhaust. And also, weight reduction. Empty the boot out (free!), then relocate the battery to rear (if its in front from facory) to help offset all that weight gone in the back, put a dry cell battery in while you're at it. How heavy is the bonnet ? Will a CF/Fibreglass one help ? Do you ever carry back passengers (need those rear seats?). Alot of junk in the car ? Can also look at getting ultra light weight wheels (exxy though). Items from volk, work, enkei etc come to mind. -
Personally, i'd be stoked if i paid $1500 for 20rwkw gain! I have paid $1200 to gain 6rwkw, and given the chance, i'd do it again. It's not all just the peak power too...the response, power curve/average, power delivery and knocking/detonation all counts too when you do a mod. At least that's how i look at it.

Eoi: Western Sydney/all Sydney V35 Meet
Touge Kyousou replied to sethaiyaar's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Let's see some pics! Sorry couldn't make it guys, had a crap/long day at work and have been driving the v for work the past 2 days as my old man had to borrow my daily, kinda made me not want to drive it. Was supposed to hit up natio with my crew as well tonight but the weather laid rest to that. Interesting, a few Vs around the stgeorge area...even one in penshurst. But i hardly ever see them lol. Will definitely come to the V cruise when it's organised. -
I think option. One of my mates V premium doesn't do it.

Can the organiser edit first post reflecting meeting point/location and time etc. -
35 degree day is pretty unfriendly to times though, especially on FI cars.. Perhaps the people getting lower times with similar power are using drag radials, gutted interiors, 90/10 sussy (drag setup sussy), low psi on rears etc etc. Weird how your tires chirped 1 to 2 with 245s...i would've expected the car to melt the 245s on a hard shift with 225rwkws lol. My car can spin the uhp 275s on the rear momentarily on a hard 1-2 shift before they grip and it's only 180rwkw.

+1 on n/a needing some form of backpressure in the exhaust system. Not such a big consideration on a FI car as having backpressure will generally affect the exhaust flow/velocity of your turbo thus impacting boost delivery, turbo heat/heatsoak etc. With the n/a, having a bit of backpressure helps exhaust scavenging like said before. I think it also helps with the combustion process itself though not totally sure. The trick is to find the optimum/balanced point for YOU. Too little backpressure will have a low rpm slug but good top end, too much backpressure will feel like a nice low end but choking top end. I remember swapping a high flow metal cat and high flow muffler plus some mandrel piping on an fto (n/a 2l v6) and instantly noticed the loss of low end but increased top end. You WILL feel it if you're in tune enough with your car. Temperature also helps with scavenging as well, hence people getting headers/extractors ceramic heat coated to keep more heat inside the pipes and less heat emanating through the engine bay. 17-18s quarter does sound kinda slow for a r33 gts4...but i wouldn't know because i have never owned one. Like said before, best bet is to get it dyno'd, check the afrs, get them to do the runs with some kind of knock detection installed, check heat before and after runs etc etc. Try to run your line on 98octane fuel as well if you're not already. Might be an idea to flush out the radiator, check for blocks then use some decent coolant...could be something as simple as a heat issue..My v35 initially had a heat issue and only ran 131rwkw...after i addressed the heat issue and added just a few simple breathing mods, it was at 170rwkw on ISMR's conservative dyno. Oh, check all consumables too, how are the spark plugs ? Magnas FTW =P my mate just bought an 02 maga sports...i gotta admit it has alot of poke, especially considering it's a fwd n/a. Looking at getting a magna myself for a daily haha.

They must've done that recently ? I remember driving and being passenger going up/down that road with two way traffic haha. Try going through royal national park south of sydney..i just came back from there haha. Some very nice twisty roads in there. There are some sections where the V will be edge of road to lane marker though (read:tight). I've heard macquarie pass is good too. Otherwise try your usual cruising routes, such as drive to wisemans ferry, putty road, bells line of road etc -

Agree, way too tight and dangerous. Almost every turn is a blind corner with hardly enough space for 2 cars driving sticking to the edge of their side of the road.. -
Want To Install A Piggy Back Ecu
Touge Kyousou replied to bosco's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I checked the old email from Uprev. They need a ROM number, AKA the ecu part number. THey said it can't be located on the vehicle anywhere and it's obtained from the dealership parts department. "As long as they have the ROM for our vehicle patched, they should be able to help us" -
Want To Install A Piggy Back Ecu
Touge Kyousou replied to bosco's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Yeah that thought crossed my mind before lol...buying a used g35 ecu on American ebay (cheap as chips), send it to uprev for fiddling then get sent to Aus for install...but the pinouts may be different plus would they know how to tune for the fuel we have here .. Like you said, one way to try is to buy the pro tuner/diy version, plug everything in and see if it works but if it doesn't...you're out ~1300 ausd last i checked. Btw, the factory ecu in our cars are quite adaptive/dynamic, constantly changing the ignition timing, something to consider if you go piggyback. Not saying can't be done, just there's more consideration vs a performance car from the 90's in general. -
That's true. From memory, both tested on dry days at same track/area. Different OEM tires and different OEM pads and calipers/fluid of course. Car weight consistent...i think they use half tank and two people in car for most of their tests. Condition of springs/sussy...both were Nissan Austrlaia PR test cars.. so almost brand new cars. Don't think brake hoses will be a variable. Human error imho would be unlikely...both cars have ABS...just stomp as hard as they can haha. ABS calibration may be different however. Anyways, was just an interesting note. The guys testing it were pretty shocked by the results, enough to put a little sidebar of text on it. I'll see if i can dig it up...was only recentish issue.

Want To Install A Piggy Back Ecu
Touge Kyousou replied to bosco's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I looked into the uprev osiris over a year ago.. I emailed Richard (i think), and it was all good till i said it was a for a jdm V35 350gt...he said without knowing for sure if the ecu's are exactly the same as in the g35's, i might've run into issues when i attempted to reflash with their software so i didn't go for it in the end. He did say if i pulled part numbers he could cross reference but i don't speak japanese lol. I then looked into emanage ultimate and was really keen on it..in the end i didn't use the emanage because my mech was flooded with work and i only wanted him to tune it plus didn't really want to introduce extra electronics feeding vital signals to the ecu.. not common but i've heard of a few cases of the piggyback failing. Settled for a custom ecu reflash in the end but still not entirely happy...lost alot of low end (remove damn factory aggressive settings causing knock) but gained a fair bit top end...now the motor is peaky - great for spirited driving but car is not as strong a i'd like just poddling around. Currently looking into open ecu and associated cables for the V or something similar..then my V will be the test guinea cop at my mech. If all goes well, after mine, the garage will start doing V/Z ecu tuning officially. -
Nice upgrade for braking performance! Certainly looks the biz filling out the 19's. Interesting to see happy user reports on the akebono brakes. When the aus 370z was in Motor pcoty, they complained about the brakes...they even stated they achieved better braking performance from the last 350z track with brembos though it could've came down to the tires. Keep us posted when you hit the track.

Wsid Drags - Would Any N/a's Wanna Go?
Touge Kyousou replied to Super Drager's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey i might try and make it for this.. been wanting to see what my car can get on the 1/4. Also a drag n00b lol. Have a 350gt manual. Power mods are intake, plenum spacer, plugs/thermo, exhaust, reflash custom tune @185rwkw. I don't think my stiff rear sussy is gonna help launching
