  1. Then maybe someone will have to play leader and post an early yes/no on this site on the morning of the 12th, so that out of towners [me and ed probably] can check in and will know. Aurora, you seem like an organised sort of fella, I nominate Aurora...............any seconds..............lol sigsputnik, under cover sounds like a good idea as well, there's heaps of undercover parking in that big building on the hill..............and our taxes paid for it. BBQ might be off though, restaurant maybe?????
  2. OK, been away till now, but I have one small but significant question. WHAT HAPPENS IF IT'S RAINING [NOT TALKING DRIZZLE OR SHOWERS]???? Bloody hard to take good photo's in the rain [although everybody will look at them and say 'Oh yeah, thats Canberra!!!]. Do we just pack the brollie and gummies, or will it be postponed etc.....................
  3. Thought it kinda sounded outlaw/pirate-ish, wasn't thinkin' of cryin' in my beer, more like the 'who was that masked man?' But anyway, set a date [12th], location, and time, way things are going [no more R series] we'd probably be better off out at the dinosaur museum.................
  4. No, not quite that simple, you need a sender unit and a reciever unit, remember that the steering wheel spins, so a wire connection is not viable. I don't know if you could use a system similar to the horn, which uses rotating contacts??? But even if you could, somebody would have to make it. What system do other cars and the R34 use for steering wheel controls such as stereo, tiptronic gearshift etc I'm really trying to find out if anybody has already done it, and if so, what did they use?
  5. Maybe we'll have to have our own shine and shoot edR34, we'll call it 'the disowned', or 'the unwanted' ..........LOL
  6. The SAU is a big family, thanks ppl, very helpful, and who was it said Canberra was a cold place...........
  7. Thanks I'll give novotel and savilles a call, see what happens...........who's best etc, I like the idea of walking to the show.
  8. I've got a HKS series III evc, its in the usual place on the steering column between the wheel and the dash. Its a pain having to reach to it and switch from high to low boost etc. Has anybody?, can anybody give me an idea on how to rewire it and install a steering wheel mounted switch?.
  9. Not needed till 17th October, going to see Chris Isaak at the Royal [my missus loves him]. Thats a Sunday night, figured I'd cruise over Sunday, it's only 200km, stay the night, do a bit of shopping etc Monday and then head back home Monday arvo. Don't mind paying, as long as the digs are good and the car is safe. Willing to meet up early Sunday arvo for a while, then dinner and CI at 8pm.
  10. GTS_DUY, Thanks, heaps of motels around civic, but i wouldn't know a good one from a rip off one, reckoned somebody on SAU should have a better idea [any idea is better than mine, I have noeyedear]. I might owe ya a beer or three..........................
  11. I'll try to make it, if you have no objections, I'm in NSW, but Canberra is closest.
  12. Have to stay in Canberra soon, was wondering what Motel was the best near Civic. Need some sort of security/undercover parking for the skyline [all your horror stories have got me worried about car, paint and cd player etc]. Any suggestions?????? [no rude ones...............lol].

I'm not in Canberra, but I'm closer to it than any other SAU section, will meet up one day. Pics in the SAU gallery.
  14. one day I will get some, one day.............
  15. For sale, '98 SII: LSD diff and flanges [needed for diff lock kit upgrade, [see HPI 37 Project R34 stage 7].........................$700 Std front pipe and cat..........offers Prices subject to market demand [they are only worth what someone is willing to pay].
  16. check yr brakes aren't glowing, could be a jammed on mc, but more likely to be a clutch. A cat [furry type] thats crawled up under yr car and is cooking on the exhaust. Does it smell like mums sunday roast?????...................lol Also check yr grommets at the firewall, you could be leaking water in under yr carpet [mine was like that when I bought it, idiots had sliced open the grommets to run extra wires, and then didn't seal them up again.
  17. Brand of turbo, model of turbo??? If it's a good one, and usually JJ are OK and don't deal in s#*t, you will get 250rwkw, but you'll probably need a hi flo exhaust, FMIC, AM air filter, and possibly larger injectors to do it. The Turbo is basically step 1 of several. When ur finished there u'll need a big clutch, diff, brakes, etc etc...........................
  18. For???? To get an answer I think you'd need more info in your topic. Brand, model no. what car etc etc etc
  19. I don't mind driving some else's fast car, I'll only ever own my skyline. I don't mind f**king some else's woman, I'll always go home to mine. [OK that last line was a joke]. When I bought my 'line it was not totally std, but I've bought, bartered, swapped and traded parts and am [still] in the [unending] process of setting it up to suit me. I bought the line cos it was in my price and spec range, the biggest bang, the lowest k's, the latest model car I could get for my fistful of dinero's. So I don't think it matters at all what you buy, ITS WHAT YOU DO WITH IT AFTER YOU BOUGHT IT............................THATS WHAT MATTERS.
  20. Your turbo will cool down easy. On a summers day after sitting on 100+km/h, it'll cool from 850-900 to 400 within 3 to 4 blocks at 50km/h, even less time in winter. If you are fanging it hard around a race strip, it might take a bit longer. If you are only doing 50-60km/h in town, I would just turn it off like any NA car [unless its a stinking hot +40 day, then 30 seconds cool down maybe??]. I've got an exhaust gauge on mine, and turbo's cool down quick all year round except for the +40 days. If you take your time parking etc then you can consider it cooled down. Turbo's aren't working much below 3,000rpm, and this is about [depending on gearing etc]100 to 120km/h in top, they are 'on sort of' below this, but are 'idling sort of', so they don't get as hot as if they are boosting.
