  1. What I actually find amusing is that everyone talks.... well the ZR1 is a second quicker here, the GTR is a second quicker there blah blah blah... If this were a professional drivers forum and we were talking poofteenths of a second because we are that good then hell I agree with all of this I will show you mine if you show me yours, however fact of the matter is this: None of us are good enough to get 10/10th's from any of the cars we talk about, hence what one race driver did on the Nurburgring compared to what we could do in no way shape of form should ever be mentioned in the same sentence. I do not know the number of track days that I have attended in everything from an RX-8 through to the GTR. In the RX-8 I regularly overtook Porsches, Ferrarris etc....is it because the car is fast....nope, is it because it handles better...nope...it is often because of the driver. Sleeping in a Garage does not make you a Car....and so too...driving a performance car does not make you a race driver capable of pulling a 7:26 on Nurburgring. You should be comparing driver ability when cars get as close as this in the performance stakes....because when all is said and done most of us will never drive all the cars we claim are inferior, hence most of this is a mute point. If you want to put your money where your mouth is then get your a$$ to the track and show us how you drive....don't sit there. (This rant is not aimed at anyone...it is just a general rant)
  2. I think you have answered your own question a little, however the things I noticed with the 911 Turbo were: - Cabbin noise was less - Full leather seats with beatutiflly soft leather - Sunroof option (very minor I know) - Generally it was just a very high standard on everything. Not that the GTR is rubbish, completely the opposite, the GTR is very well finished as well, just not as well as the Porsche. The extra quality from the Porsche was certainly not worth the price..hence the purchase choice I made.
  3. I am not sure what I woud shed from the car, yes it is heavy, however I like the sound proofing, I like the power windows, the electric seats, etc etc. I agree with offering a V-Spec for those that want a complete track beast, but if you want 400kg lighter, then simly do the following: Buy a stock GTR, Pull out the back seat Pull out the Bose Speakers in the rear of the car Pull out the floor carpet and mats. Pull off the door trims and replace with thin board and vinyl covering. Pull out the sound proofing Replace the seats with race seats. ( Bride seat for the passenger...who cares about them) (all up cost $10,000) There is your light weight model....easy.....if you then sell the bits you have pulled out then you will probably come out ahead.
  4. I am like Snowy here... R C R settings for me. Manual mode. I like keeping the hands busy and "driving" the car. I use the R mode for the transmission all the time because I find it is a smoother change even when in auto mode. One thing I have been caught with a couple of time is the "delay" when the car down shifts from 2nd to 1st in automode. I have put my foot down a couple of times right at this moment when going through a round about or coming out of a side street and guess what...nothing happens for about a second. Then the car suddenly grabs the gear and off you go, I have had some heart stopping moments here. Hence why I drive in the Manual mode, I have the control of the down shift more. So for me, 80% manual mode, 20% auto. Cheers
  5. Porsches were always my dream car. I was going to get a new 4S before they announced the GTR, however after driving the 4S I was a little disappointed. I then drove the Turbo...loved it but not the price tag. Hence that is why I am driving the GTR...while not as quality a finish as the Porsche it is certainly the best value for money performance car I have ever owned.
  6. I think that you will find most of us that currently own the R35 did not get a test drive before buying. I put an order down over 2 years ago without even so much as seeing one in the flesh, call it a gamble...but hell it was worth it. As such the transmission could not be evealuated on a test drive. So too who are you to say what is fun and what is not. If you like lighting up the tyres at a set of light, or feathering the clutch to get a car sideways at a round about or on a corner...then hell buy the manual if that is what is fun for you. I love the manuals because of the heel toe down changes and the fun of skid pan days, however my real FUN happens on the race track. I have never had more fun than with the R35, as I said before I have always owned manuals and was hesitant on the R35 because it only came in the paddle shift, after 2 days of driving it I was a convert. This does not go for all paddle shifts, only this one so far. So for my "Fun" being track days and driving fast, I am glad I have the paddle shift and not the manual. But as you have said everyone's idea of fun is different. So there is no right or wrong answer here.
  7. But wait there is more: http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/NEWS/2009/...90514-01-e.html
  8. Wonder if they have seen this yet... they would be even angier: http://www.themotorreport.com.au/27529/200...at-nurburgring/
  9. I have always bought manual cars, I loved the connection to the car and if the GTR came in a traditional manual I probably would have bought one, however I would have bought it because that is what I have always owned and what I always thought was a more direct connection to the car. Since having the paddle shift in the GTR and done enough driving in it (well just over 4000km anyway) I must say I am sold. From doddling along in peak hour in normal dricing mode, to putting it in R Auto mode for when you want more of a response to the throttle or to full RRR on the track or R,R,Off this car does everything very very well. As I said I would have bought the manual if it was offered, that was the way I went with my 335 (Manual over paddle shift auto), but I must say I have seen the light and would not go back to a traditional manual, except if I was buying it to drift. Cheers
  10. I agree to an extent, at the creek I am finding that I still get a lot of exit drift from the rear of the car, especially at turn 3 at the Creek. I am with you on this one, however I want to know what a good time is at the creek in this car? I have heard some people say that this car should be good for a high 1:30 in street spec. I wish we could get a race driver or similar to get a hot lap in this car, I might get one of the race instructors to do a flying lap to set a bench mark for us. I think Luffy is attending my next track day....could be a good opportunity. Will let you know. Cheers,
  11. I had exactly the same noise when turning right at higher speeds, a couple of runs through Galston Gorge revealed this. The strange thing though is that the noise is now gone, I do not know what has changed. On a side note just for readers information, there is a rattle noise from the front of the car when I go over a bump, this combined with with clicking when turning raised some flags. Anyhow after some inspections I found the issue for the rattle when going over the bumps, the top steel pin that goes through the caliper is a floating pin and vibrates and rattles. I am curious who else has seen this. Cheers
  12. What settings are you using...RRR? Which track are you trying to get the most out of. Cheers
  13. So you registered as a member of the Skyline forum and used your first post to object to who was stated as the founder of the law of conservation of energy.....nice....you are going to be a worthwhile contributor.
  14. PM me pricing and how long you need the car for, I have a work trip to Bris planned in the next couple of weeks, I could drive it up, or let me know what it would cost for you to come to Sydney. Cheers
  15. I had the entire front of my car, mirrors, etc done by these guys, they were brilliant. http://www.ozicozi.com.au/index2.htm The will be able to help you out. I believe they will ship anywhere. I had 5 extra layers put under the front skirt.
  16. Funny you should say that....I did try.....no dice. The best they would do is $30,000 drive away for the SP23. They are selling too may cars to give huge discounts. They were offering a $2,900 discount but that is it. No freebies no nothing. I know I screwed Holden, but they needed the sale before months end.
  17. I don't believe the 7 days for a second...I remember when you got the car, you piled on about 1000km in the first 3 days.
  18. Any Sydney boys want to bring a set over when I get mine, I am looking at placing an order and for the frieght and clearance side we can split it, I will have my customs guys handle everything. PM if interested. Cheers, Jeff
  19. Yep Singapore are the same.....it could be worse...you could buy the car and live in Victoria with all those hidden speed cameras...I know my license would be gone if I lived there.
  20. Just for the record on car prices... I just bought a new Astra with body kit alloys, metallic paint etc etc. for one of my engineers. The sticker price is $27,900 drive away. I negotiated it down to 21,990 drive away with tints and mats including business rego. Almost $6,000 discount, no one is going to sell at a loss...so you do the math on it.
  21. GoodYear Tyres at Castle Hill, NSW: Bridgestones $950.00 for fronts. $1050 for rears.
  22. Guys...one thing to remember...every engine is hand built, you will get "strong" engines and also "weaker" ones. the 14.5kw is nothing. Anyhow I would like to see a couple more ADM cars done to get a better feel. Cheers.
  23. Keep us updated...I would even drive up north to get a good solution fitted. Our mods have had no luck.
