  1. What sort of ATW kW are we looking at? You have everyone's interest. Cheers, Jeff
  2. Forget the GTR, I sold a 2007 model 335 for $72k with 30,000km on the clock before the GTR arrived. Hmmm...lets do the math there...125k - 72k = 53k (41% drop in 2 years) Yes there are plenty advertised for more, but no one is buying. The rules of investments (or cars): 1) Something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. 2) You never lose the money until you sell. So in my ultimate wisdom I might keep the R35 forever hence never losing money on it.
  3. What was the outcome? Has the car been run in? Regards, Jeff
  4. I have watched your laps a couple of times and I love the Trackvision setup. Great footage...I have to get out there agin...cannot wait.
  5. The 145.4 is an awesome time especially if that is your first trip to the track. I have done close to 1000 laps over the years of the creek, in everything from RX-8's through to the GTR. I am hoping to have the new wheels and tyres ready for the 24th June, there will be another 2 GTR's out there also. One heavily modded. The most I saw on the transmission was 125, however it is at that point I did a cool down lap and came into the pits, I reached that after about 6 hot laps. I borrowed the drift box for the day, however I will be buying one very soon. Cheers, Jeff
  6. Very happy, they did an awesome job and you can barely see it. You really have to look and almost know it is there to see it. I would highly recommend the film.
  7. I went afterarket and got the 3m film across the front and various other places, then the ST1 paint protection. www.ozicozi.com.au. ALSO: Martz...there are only two dealers in NSW with the GTR and I told you which one it wasn't......I cannot believe I am having to explain this....it's like a joke where you have to explain the punchline.
  8. I paid $170k for Premium white, a mate got the black for the same price. I had window tinting thrown in and mats. I got mine from a Sydney dealership which I wont name...however it was not Brookvale.
  9. I experimented with 6th but it was too much, 5th worked well with a down shift to 4th on the entry to turn 1 to settle the car. I would love to hear what times you end up doing with your set up, I have been following your threads to get ideas for my set up. Cheers, Jeff
  10. I am running the factory bridgestones. Top speed down the straight was 241km, but 90% of the time it was more like 235 - 237km/h. Turn 1 I started at 170km/h and slowly built it to 182km/h, late in the sessions the tyres got a bit hot and limited it to 175km/h. The car really drifted from the inside line out, but I think I was a little cautious and could have pushed into the higher 180's, it was the first outing for the R35 at the track and I still need to find the limits of this car more. I am heading out again on the 24th June, hopefully with new wheels and more camber, it really took its toll on the front right and the camber would have helped alot.
  11. I did the track day last Wednesday, with no camber, street setup I started out with consistent 1:48, however best lap of the day was 1:46.8. The purpose was to bench mark the car ready for the mods to start. The 1:46.8 was a relatively clean lap, however a little traffic in the back section, probably could have shaved another 1/2 a second off with a clean track. Cheers, Jeff
  12. $170k drive away, however I know a person that picked his up for as low as $160k, was Johnny on the spot when an order was cancelled and deposit forfeited. Was originally quoted $180k but negotiated...don't let them tell you they don't negotiate, they tried that at first, however it is BS.
  13. Thanks. I am quite happy with the times considering this is the first time I have tracked this car. I am now looking forward to the improvements...let the modifying begin.
  14. SAU Nickname: Gibbo_R35 Car Make and Model: R35 GTR Circuit Name: Eastern Creek Lap time: 1:46.8 Modifications Nil, no camber, complete street set up. Stock tyres etc Needed to start with a bench mark before the track mods happen.
  15. I have the R35 as an everyday car...and yep if I was to write a review after taking it for a tottle down to the shops, grab the kids from school and then back to my desk job...I would say it is uninvolving. Auto mode has you shifting to 6th gear before 60km/h. You start depressing your foot in automode and guess what....nothing. The gearbox response in auto mode is for fuel economy and you get much better response from a turbo falcon...or my wife's X5 turbo diesel. Even if you give it a squirt on the streets it is still a little dull, because if has no body roll at street speeds, it has no hint of letting go, it has no risk factor, it is like boy in the bubble. The 335 BM I had was great for the streets, at street speeds I could get it sideways, drift round a round about, all the fun things. I could plant the accelerator to the floor and use that speed for fun. In the GTR I get to stab quickly at the accelerator and boom 120km/h is on the dial. There is awe at the speed....however it is not involving on the street, you cannot come anywhere near any of it's limits. It even seems to float at low speeds, the steering is ordinary and the runing circle is quite big.....however you can certainly use it as an everyday car....I do. On the track however is where you get to use the cars special abilities. I liken it to Clarke Kent and Superman. Clarke is nothing special, he is very ordinary, however put him in the situation and you have the man of steel.....same with the R35. In short...R35 is capable on the road...but the fun in driving it everyday is in its potential and in the responses you get from other people....where this car is out of this world is on the track. Don't take this review to heart....look at the reviewer and where it was reviewed, then appreciate where it should have been reviewed and by a decent journo. Cheers,
  16. Yep they all have it, I had the original stuff removed when I had the 3 M film put across the front of my car, I then had them put 4 coats of the sticky stuff under the front spoiler to protect it aginst my wife. It is great, they take off the old one and replace in the event of a slight touch. I also had the film put: On the bonnet (1/2 way up actually) Head Lights Entire front On the rear buper just below the boot to protect aginst loding and unloading of goods. For under $700 it was a great investment. Cheers,
  17. http://www.5min.com/Video/Learn-about-the-...o-Run-112611798 Interesting Dyno run by motor trend on a stock GTR
  18. Gary, Careful...your true colours are showing. I will leave it at that...you obviously have not read your own posts, you claimed the R35 was "big fat waddling pig that is competitive only because it is technologically better". Sorry if I misread that and that you actually meant that you were curious what it could do if it shed weight. If the GTR does lose money as fast as you say...so be it...maybe then you could afford to get in one rather than bitching about it.
  19. Your right...we are sorry for asking you to explain your opinion...next time we will blindly accept. I wish you all the best...with your "opinions" Anyway...I guess the proof of performance is in its results......I suggest taking the short drive down to Macarthur nissan and speak to Maciek and ask to take their car for a test drive. It may just surprise you...then again it may not.
  20. I understand what you are saying about weight, however how does this weight impact on the car? Does it hamper it's performance or dynamics, it tracks very very well and accelerates like no ones business. If the car sacrificed a performance aspect for this weight, then yes I would say you are right, however when the "flaw" of this car is not actually a flaw that is when I question an opinion. I am all for opinions, that is what makes the world go around, what I am against is un-informed opinions. This is not opinion it is ignorance. No one is pulling knives, we are just defending a car that has had so much speculation raised about it, some of which has turned out to be true, the rest not so much. From destroying gear boxes to engines being rebuilt at 100,000km etc. If your mates are doing this to each other over cars, then I would question the company you keep and the mentality associated with that. You raised an opinion on a car you have never driven or even ridden in, we challenged you on it to back up your opinion with some kind of fact....the result is ....no fact just speculation. You can qustion our maturity if you like, however it does not distract from the fact that you raised a completely unfounded opinion and then had a cry when we called on you to back it up. I have owned cars from a lot of different manufacturers, I am not a one eyed supporter of any car, hell I have never owned a GTR before and really not even contemplated buying one until this car, I bought it for it's performance and trackability, I am not even defending my choice of car, because some people will drive it and say it is not for them.....that is fine and I have no issue at all with that....however.....the difference here is that their opinion is an informed one.
  21. Lol that is true...but I thought we were only getting you laid....no one loves a Nissan sports car more than Trailer trash....they especially love the GTR because they can spell it.
  22. I cannot count the number of: - Comments - People pulling up beside me to talk - People stopping me to take photos of the car - Girls that want to go for a ride I think you are underestimating the pulling power of this car........is there nothing the R35 cannot do
  23. I appreciate your opinion, however much of the "opinion" people spout about the R35 comes from never having driven one, nor often ever having sat in one. The GTR's specs give no hint of the true brutality and real capability of this car. This waddling Pig has set more records in such a short period of time than almost any other car. I have driven over 30 different "performance cars", from Porsche's to BMW's, limited Ferrari's, Imprezzas, Evo's Skylines from GTS to GTR, Lotus, Mazdas (Mainly rotaries) to name a few. The R35 is the best all round package straight from the show room floor I have ever driven. Whilst I have not owned all the cars I have driven, I have certainly tracked most of them either on skid pans, motorkhanas or on full race tracks. The Evo is certainly up there, however it is by no means a "supercar" not by any strech of the imagination. It is however an exceptional performance car. What I am writing is also "opinion", however atleast I am backing my opinion with experience rather than speculation.
  24. I had the same issue with those pesky seatbelt, handbrake and air bag lights....I just cut the wires...no more issues. I would say get the real fix and get the light turned back on....just in case. Cheers
