Hey guys, Does anyone know how to hook up a mobile so that it comes thru your stereo speakers? I've seen a few guys with it set up like that and when it rings, the stereo shuts off and lets you answer. Do you need specific features in the stereo head unit or will any of them do this? Any help/guidence appreciated. Thanks Birnie

Slow R33 Intercooler Install (in Progress)
Birnie replied to Birnie's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It's in! Not quite level which I'm a bit peeved about but I'll look into that later. And the cheapo kit doesn't have the bracket to keep the top pipe from hitting the fans (bolts to the engine with 2 botls) Need to do something there but it's not touching yet. Haven't taken it for a drive but it does start...(thank god for that) Woohoo! -
Thanks guys. Think I'll pass on the garden hose ! Ended up using extra vacuum hose i had lying around. Works well as Mr RbMan said.

Slow R33 Intercooler Install (in Progress)
Birnie replied to Birnie's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I didn't want to mount it the front bar directly 'cause then you lose 2 more clip holes to hold the front bar on. I've seen a few bolted straight to the front, and that's what the Hybrid instructions suggest to do. You're right about the welding. I don't know how nor do i have the tools. So either method, mine shown above or bolt straight to the front bar, doesn't need welding. -
Pic added.......

What did you use to protect the metal 3" cut outs? I've seen people with some sort of black plastic to cover the sharp edges. What is that stuff? Thanks..Birnie

OK Holes are drilled Old piping is off. Front bar is cut, metal and plastic. Nearly there! Used the old chicken cutters from the kitchen to cut the fan blades...hehe Here's some pics..... -

Rb25det - Oil Filter
Birnie replied to Boostn247's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hi Boostn247, Might wanna expand on the decription here dude. Most oil filter are about $8 aren't they? I'm assuming your selling another part? -
How does the dump pipe attatch? Seems to be the round pipe with a clamp that gets the main exhaust but i can't see where the waste-gated gasses go?

I went to a dealer to check the V8 out a weeks back. they only had the 6 but i had a sit inside anyway. Very big inside. Too big Didn't really like it. Then...talking to the finance chick, just for interest sake, to see what a lease would cost. She starts chit chatting how she got to drive the V8 a few weeks ago. She says that it attracted alot of attention from older men, no chicks looked at all! haha, soo turned off em now.

Damn right! I knew nothing about cars until i bought the R33 Downloaded the instructions to do the oil change and haven't looked back. Best thing about doing it yourself is that you KNOW what actually goes in the engine. Give it a go, it aint hard. The next step i learned after that was the sparkies. Again not too hard. Both i was a bit aprehensive about because i had never done it before. Now i look back and think I'm a bit stupid for having to download the instruction !! haha But, you gotta start somewhere. Now I'm attempting to put my own intercooler in! ....it's a natural progression Good luck!

Bought a 2nd hand turntable and need an old Amp with the phono input You got one lying around the garage that's collecting dust? Gimme a yell. $50 - $100 depending on brand and condition I've got a width limit but need to mesure it, i think it needs to be less than 42cms wide. I'll check though Thanks!

Slow R33 Intercooler Install (in Progress)
Birnie replied to Birnie's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I bought some Stainless Steel 90degree bends but the stuffing around with cutting to fit, getting all the right bits and such really was a pain. Also, some people have reported pipes flying off as the pipes don't have any lips to prevent them coming off. The pipes i bought 'should' already be bent into the right spots so hopefully it just bolts up....and it's UNBELEIVABLY light. The stainless steal is prettty weighty. Also the return pipe won't go back under so I'll have a little bit better height clearance. -
Slow R33 Intercooler Install (in Progress)
Birnie replied to Birnie's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The painted black bracket on the cooler (Heaps of progess since last post hey?) By the way, I'm going thru the engine wall and over the fan blades. The only bit i pinched from Lazy-Bastard was the attatchment method, not the pipe set up -
No idea about the R32. If you find out and want it, i work in North Sydney so you can come get it if you want (somedays anyway, shiftwork)

..oops, $65

Hi, Got a HKS pod filter of my R33 up for sale Includes 2 metal brackets to keep secure and the adapter. (I think I've miss placed the 4 bolts though) Anyways, check out the pic if interested. Needs a new filter though. Thanks Birnie

Hey guys, Yes, another thread on intercooler installs. There's a few around with slightly different attatchments. I'm going to add a few pics and prices as i go along but be patient. Week 1 Removed front bar.... Looked at it for a day or two. Finally bought a grinder and got stuck into it. Also rust proofed the cut. No pics for now but next time i take it off I'll grab a snap and post it up. Week 2 Decided to go with Lazy-Bastards attachment method. (after changing my mind 100+ times) No welding required and if a brick does go thru the cooler at some stage, it will be a 4 screw swapout Here's some cost involved : Cooler - $300 (bought over a year ago, hense the inflated price) Pipes - $240 (ebay job, look good though, very light and nice bends) Black paint - $12 (rust proofing, very useful) 15mm square support bar (see lazy-bastad pic) - $12 Replacement, under supports - $3 (supplied ones bend under cooler weight) 90 degree bracket - $3 (bunnings) Longer bolts - $4 (for extra room the square pipe uses, bunnings) Angle Grinder with cutting blade - $43 (can you count this? now a permanent part of the ever growing tool collection) 3" metal hole saw blade $44 !!!! (Freeegan hell) obar? Adaptor $53 !!! (double freegan hell) (if i can find someone with the above i might borrow theirs and return the rest.....$100 to cut 1 hole ! Sheetten bricks) Anyways, to come: Will spray the support bar a nice colour. Currently coated in rust proofing black...and drying A nice shiny silver to match the cooler might be the trick. Get back under and screw it all in. Might even do that without adding the pipes (covering the ends of course) Just so i can see some actual progress on the car. Gotta drill the hole yet, and rust proof it. Fit the pipes Also, the top pipe that goes across the fan doesn't have the support bar to screw into the engine support. Gotta get one of those welded on i guess. So plenty to do and I'm a slow worker. Good luck to me ! Oh, by the way. I doubt it's a TRUST cooler. Was advertised that way when i bought it off ebay. Was about $20-$30 more expensive than the hybrid copies but i thought it was worth the extra, even if not real. Looks cool so who cares.

Just went to order some replacement pads off www.discpads.com and it didn't go thru. Rang their number and it's not connected. ..although there fax number still rings and picks up (on the fax that is) Anyone used em lately?

Hey guys, I've made the 1st few steps for the front mount. Acually removing the front bar and poking around to see what needs doing. Moved the horns out of the way. Cut 2 short 4cm lengths into the front bar, but can't for the life of me get around to cutting the looong strip the connects the 2 ! I'm using a hacksaw by the way. Worked fine on the perpendicular short bits but i can't get the angle for the length ways cut. What did you guys use? An angle grinder? The bits I've been buying for this install is gunna cost me just as much as the frigin' cooler ! The hole say (for metal) - $42 The frigin orbar? or something to hold it was 50 freeegan dollars ! What a rip ! (but i'm sick of putting it off and just bought it) Also, when you cut all your bits, front bar and 76mm hole, do you finish it off with some sort of paint to prevent rusting? What did you use? Thanks guys/girls Birnie

I should be in for Gosford. Depending on work(shift work) If you want the water shots at the sail club, that'd be great. Just don't pick a Wednesday. That's their race day and there will be cars everywhere, Full car park and all up/down the street I was walking my dog around there once and saw a shit hot Rx7 with a Hitman sticker. Wonder if it was him?

I've wired up a SAFII before and pretty sure the only wire that actually gets cut is the fuel (or air fuel) wire. That is the only signal that gets altered by that unit. The rest are just tap-ins to get the signal without altering them. (You might be thinking of the RSM that fools the ECU so you can exceed 180 ) I think you will need a fuel cut defender or what ever they are I was gunna suggest a Power FC but i checked your site the other day and pretty sure you've got auto??? SydneyKid is an expert in auto upgrades too. Done plenty to his Auto Stagea. He's sure to know. love your car !
