  1. I wouldn't say bumps, more like dimples. Spoke to RDA (or EBC today, they merged) There is only one type of rotor. Asked what temp they're rated too, not sure...hmmm? Warranty is voided once you hit the race track, don't know about DBAs if thats the same The new ones you're talking about are on this page.. http://www.ebcbrakes.com/Automotive.html (near the bottom)
  2. Thanks guys, The dude let me exchange it for a stainless steel one that is the right length. Pretty happy overall Good price, looks ok, if it is a real cheapy, i'll guess I'll be replacing again soon haha Now to put the little sucker on...again.
  3. Yeah, I've got a copy of the glossy fold out page showing the standards, 4000s and 5000s, explaining the paint colours and all that jazz. That's sort of what i want to find out for the RDA's too. Maybe they'll send me something in the mail. Fingers crossed.
  4. Thanks mate. Might give em a call tomorrow. Why didn't i think of that! Get so caught up in the internet sometimes, you forget how the real world operates. Pick up the phone and talk to someone dummy! Haha....
  5. I've searched long and hard on the subject and no-one mentions if there are different levels of performance brakes by RDA. If i go and buy a set, will i just get standard rotors? Or are their standard rotors already performance rotors? Similarly i can get standard DBA's...slotted even but they're still not 4000's unless i specify 4000's. So whats thre go with RDAs? Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Can i get standard slotted and performance slotted? I want performance slotted rotrors but have no idea how to tell
  6. Sorry to hear of your loss. I'd be crying like a baby if that happenned to my dog. Love her to bits!
  7. Bah humbug, caliper adapters! i think i just answered my own question. (Dopey)
  8. If i upgrade to DBA 4000's rotors, I'm looking at around $450. UAS has the R33 Stage 1 brake upgrade kit for $795 which includes : KIT INCLUDES 324MM R33 GTR DBA 4000 SERIES BRAKE ROTORS, CALIPER ADAPTERS, CAP BOLTS AND SHNOOR WASHERS COMPLETE KIT If i sold my original front setup to a S13/14 owner, what do you reckon I'd get? maybe $300? with a 10% dicount from UAS i'd nearly be looking at the same $dollars$ !! Anyone done this upgrade? Is it much better than just DBA400's alone on the R33? Which forum would be the best place to sell the original R33 caliper brake setup on. Not big on what forums are around, this is the ONLY one i look at. Thanks guys. Birnie
  9. For $220 each, they would have to be the DBA 4000's slotted These are rated higher than the standard DBA's of course which would be around the $100 each. I don't know the answer to your question exactly (looking at getting rotors too) but at least DBA have different codes for better quality brakes like the standards, 4000 and 5000's I don't know if there's differences with the RDA's ?? There's RDA's for an R33 on ebay for $349 which is a significant saving for me over the DBA 4000's but are these the same ratings as the 4000's or just standard rating? How can you tell? It doesn't say nor do i know how to tell anyway. Just seems to be RDA rotors, one type, that's it??? Anyone know?
  10. Been looking into it with BATMBL thank guys. Does anyone know the exact lenght of the standard cat? Surely someone must have one sitting around?
  11. Hi BATMBL Can you tell me the length of the 3" CAT for the R33? ($190 one) I took mine off to replace with a cheapy i bought, but the cheapy is too long. I think it will be going back. My current one which is a Catco but looks to be maybe a 2.5" is 318mm long. Does that sound right? Thanks..Birnie
  12. He guys/girls Finally had some spare time and went to replace my old standard CAT with a new 3" hi flo job a got of ebay. Nissan Cat of course. If you search ebay, it's the only purple one there. Says it's for R33 or R34, mild steel. Anyways... took the old one off, checked em against each other, looking at the hole size mainly.. a bit of difference there so should be some gains made. Go to put it on, it's frigin' longer than the standard! Bugga! Old is 318mm long New is 386mm long. I must say his adds don't say anything about the size but i would expect it to be an easy replacement if advertised for an R33. Now i either need to sell it get a new one or refabricate the old (but good) exhaust??? What do you guys think? Do you think the seller is in some way responsible? Do i have a standard CAT to start with? (it says Catco) Should i keep it and refabricate the exhaust or off load it and get the right sized one? Anyone know the length of their 'standard Cat' ?? (or aftermarket one) Thanks...Birnie
  13. Got done yesterday behind a semi-trailer. Crack about 30cm long Check with Famous Classic Insurance on how they are with windscreen replacement. 1 free replacement each year. No excess and no change to NCB $0.00 ching ching !!! yippee !
  14. When i went on Conitki thru Europe, we had a Japanese chick on the bus. Could speak English reasonably well and also had a calculator thing that could translate English to Japanese and vice versa. Our tour leader had heard of used undies for sale but she couldn't understand the word 'used' or 'second hand'. She's thinking "derr, of course you can buy undies in Japan" Tour leader typed in second hand and showed her the result on the palmpilot thingo and she started laughing pretty hard..we were laughing harder, E'd never heard of such a thing..... Then we asked how much, and she said expensive and that school boys used to buy them from vending machines and could be seen sniffing them on train stations. THEN she asks.... "how much are they in your country" We all nearly died laughing! Not our country dear ! That's a Japan thing. Hehe (but she wouldn't sell me hers, yes i did ask )
  15. I reckon they're ok. I was tossing up between that and the Skyline when i bought. Ended up getting the Skyline in the end with no regrets. But the insurance on the FTO is HEAPS cheaper. Go test drive one, i did. As previously said, MIVEC is a must, then you can get the APEXi mivec controller. APEXi stuff is soooo cool I test drove..FTO, 300zx TT, 300zx non-t (soo bad) and the Skyline R33 turbo and non-turbo. Hmmmmm Skyliiiinnnnee (Homer sytle)
  16. Make sure the pipe that went to the original boost solenoid (the bit that hung off the T-piece) has been blocked off. Some people use a screw in the end or me, i just left the T-piece on and tightly wrapped some electrical tape around both ends. Otherwise... you'll get almost unlimited boost, your little needle hitting the top of the scale??? Not good
  17. Nice work, I did one once for someone, for a case of beer! Very fiddley work. Was glad when it was finished! Very cool looking device! The best fun is monitiring the throttle position
  18. Intersting fine print that's true. But i think it's a fair one. If parking near home (overnight or not) put it in your garage! I'd be pee-d of being the company having to fork out 20k cause some lazy sod didn't put the car in their garage..... That being said, don't think anyone would do the above mentioned clause anyway... Okay, next. My older brother had the ye olde' Hillman Gazelle back in the 70's (did they have alarms back then?) He had a home made interesting...ummm device??? You could only start it if you had the geard stick in reverse! (clutch in of course) How many people would know that ! or think to try it. Should get on to him about that one. And i guess if someone does do it..don't tell anyone or share it! Haha, what a bumma but unfortunately that's the best way to go!
  19. My 98 R33 is currently insured for 26k i think. I paid $1700 2 yrs running (i'm over 30 by the way) 3rd yr comes around and still they want $1700. Rang em up and said " i think I'm paying too much" Gave a bit of a speal and they said "How about $1600" I was already pretty happy, but said "how about $1500. Yep! Whoohoo !
  20. I don't know where your going with the groove thing. People get em machined because they are warped, as in shudders on braking because the disc just isn't dead staright/flat anymore. Come for a drive in my car and you'll know what i mean. Feals similar to terrible wheel balance but only under braking. My steering wheel shakes... i'm thinking of upgrading to slotted too so might pass on the machining for a full replacement
  21. ..on replacing them yourself, there's a tutorial somewhere on here (search away) with detailed pics on how to replace em. Think it's on an R32 but I'm sure it's not much different
  22. Particulalrly interested in this one, cause when i FINALLY get around to getting mine done, i think I'm going with The Hitman Was the $500 for road tune or dyno tune...or bits of both? Thanks..Birnie
  23. I've lost the plot. My thinking is out by a month I thought his was MIA for over a month but it's only 3 days, Fingers crossed then.....
  24. I'm thinking he might be gone already. I'm ready with the cash. Haven't heard anything Yap - Last Active - 4th September, 2005 - 11:16 PM
  25. I love this tutorial. Found it over a year ago, made it into word doco format. Printed it off in colour and make sure it's around everytime i change em juts to be sure. Thanks matey ! Awesome job! Used the changing oil one for awhile but thats piiiss easy so don't need it now. (but not easy if you've never done it before, which is where i was awhile back) The best thing is, changin oil and spark plugs must be 80% of what a 'service' is and you never know exactly what they're doing........so get in there guys and do it yourself.
