  1. Hey man you won't need to 'cut back and polish' the paint at all. If your getting it done by a professional they will paint it and de-nib it (remove any little specks of dust from the clear coat) and polish it all for you so it's ready to go. Really with today's technology if it were a perfect world and you didn't get any dust in the clear coat at all you could just drive it out of the oven and drive away without touchng it but nothings perfect so they need to fix a few little things. As far as maintainence just have a chat to the painter once he's done and ask him what polishes he prefers. Good painters always have their own preffered products but ask any of the decent detailers on here for a reccomendation. But really your only concern should be a) not scratching it b) keeping it nice and clean and chamois it after you wash it and c) give it a hand polish/wax evey 3-6 weeks and that will protect it against most things and make washing dirt etc off it an absolute breeze.
  2. Cheers dude yeah it DID look good didn't it lol Na I think you'll like it even better when it's finished!
  3. Cheers guys. Same goes to you Ant really quality build your doing and great results with all the DIY. Shows what you can do with a little know how and a bit of elbow grease. (Not to mention the money you save lol.) Yeah I love mucking around with cars especially my own and I'm always looking for little ways to make it that bit different from other 32's hence why I try and do/make/modify most of the parts myself. There are definately times I don't enjoy doing things myself like pulling turbo's off when the engine's in or removing/replacing the engine twice in six months lol but for the most part my only complaint is not having enough time to work on it. I love how the projects/buildups thread is like pure porn for an R32 owner at the moment so many great builds on the go it's hard to keep up!
  4. Id stick with the individual throttle bodies personally. it gives the intake the unique gtr ufo type of sound. but upto you really they both look pretty nice.
  5. Nice car man always good to see another 32GTR getting some attention.
  6. Yeah I tapped it with a 1/8th bit but the thread is only about half there. Any ideas on where to get the reducer fittings from? I also want one to go in my trust/greddy oil cooler sandwhich plate but havent had any luck finding anything so far.
  7. Only way is to match it by eye then. They should have a couple of sets of colour cards for interior only colours in sets of shades of grey, green, red, blue etc. Get hold of the set you need prob grey and flick through till you find something close enough. If you don't have any luck with the paint store go to a bodyworks and the painters there should be able to do the same thing for you.
  8. Hey boys and girls I'm chasing the little part where the oil pressure sender screws into on a 26 as the thread in mine is nearly cactus and Nissan dont make them anymore. Part looks like this And goes onto this.
  9. Hey man take the paint code of the car into an automotive paint shop and they will be able to tell you. Usually when they look it up on their computer it brings up associated colours like interior, bumper insert colours etc.
  10. Cheers man yeah it was a toss up when I went to paint the engine bay whether or not to put the car back to the stock silver cause it's a Vspec but I just love the look of Black 32R's they look the fattest in my opinion. Yeah I can't wait either. Got a few small things left to do like replace the de-cat pipe with a High flow cat, weld up my catch can, put in my new oil pressure sensor and replace the air filters and then it's off to the tuners.
  11. Cheers man yeah I was highly unmotivated when I started putting it back together on friday arvo but by last night I just wanted to keep working on it lol. Anyway I haven't been sleeping while my engine was away I started repairing my front bumper. Someone had cut a big 8 inch x 3 inch hole in the front of it between the N1 vents and then tried to repair it but all the filler had started cracking away so I decided that if I was repairing that I would modify it and delete the area where the number plate sits as I'll be relocating the number plate to the side. So I set about cutting it all out. Then I cut some sections out of a VE commodore sideskirt that I pinched from my old work (same type of plastic as the GTR bar) and then used a special Fusor 2 part plastic glue to glue the new sections in. All sanded back ready for some plastic filler And the finished shape. Still need to fill in a few pinholes and give it a bit more of a fine sand before priming but its starting to take shape. So with that done I decided to get about stripping the old paint from the bumper. I was originally going to sand it all but then I remembered seeing this before I left the bodyworks. Paint stripper for plastic. Works really well on refinished bumpers and cause mine looked like it had been painted numerous times I thought it would be perfect. It says on the label that it wont work on factory baked enamel but it seemed to take most of the silver off as well so the bumper might have been a new one painted and put on the car at some stage in the past. Still need to get another can and go over the last few bits as you need it on there pretty thick but nearly all the black you can see is back to plastic which means a shitload less sanding and great for all the areas that are hard to sand. And I also decided that my car needed the GTR spoiler put back on but when I had a look at the spoiler I decided it needed a little something to set it apart. I started looking for a lip extension then just decided to make my own. So I went to the fiberglass shop and got some structural foam and cut it into the rough shape and statred glueing it all together. Once I was happy enough with the basic shape I put a coat of fiberglass matting over it and let it set. Once dry I cut off any excess and gave the whole lot a sand to even out the main lumps and bumps and started with the filler. It took ages to get the shape to a nice even curve cause it has 2 curves the up and down and the left to right but I got there in the end. After I got it to this stage I decided on something drastic but I'll wait until it's a bit closer to completion before I let the cat out of the bag.
  12. Well after a long tiring weekend I finally got the motor back in and running. All seems to be good ran it upto temp today and it idles away happily burnt out most of the oil residue in the exhaust. Still a little bit smokey but should burn off when I get it tuned. I do need a new Oil Pressure Gauge though to get an accurate pressure reading as the one I've got isn't working anymore so going to spend the money and get a decent Jap one. I drilled out the spotwelds and removed the centre of the radiator support panel when I took the engine out last time made it so much easier to put the engine back in with the box on. Just bought some hex head bolts and nuts and bolted it back in place. Car was absolutely filthy after sitting in the shed for 4 months so gave it a bit of a scrub. Finally starting to look like a car again. I also rolled the rear guards so they clear the tyres and while I was doing it I noticed that my right hand wheel has nearly 12mm more camber at the top compared to the left so gonna have to sort that out and check all the alignment before it goes back on the road. Still got to weld up my catch can put in a Highflow cat and sort out the oil pressure gauge but then it should be ready for tuning.
  13. G'day lads just a quick question I have been uploading photo's in my build thread for a while now but I have to change the image size and when I post the image it comes up in the post basically as thumbnail size. How do I upload it so its the size of the full width of the post column? If it doesn't make sense look at the latest posts in the R32 pics thread and I want them that size. All my images are Jpeg too.
  14. Also try prepsol/wax and grease remover. Get it from any repco/autobarn etc and jut do the same as the wd40
  15. +1 Just had JPC gears put in an N1 on my 26. Worth the extra money for the piece of mind.
  16. Well finally got my engine back from the builders AGAIN. $1400, a new N1 pump with Reimax gears and a set of big end bearings later and it should be good to go. Hopefully get it back in the car and running this coming friday saturday.
  17. Not the best with the electrical side of things but sounds like you should get a new relay and try that they're only $15-$20 for a 30amp horn relay. It should be normally open which means no circuit until the switching wire(from the ECU) triggers it to form the circuit. hook it up the way it's been explained and that'll tell you whether thats the problem. It's now a process of elimintaion so write a list of things to check and cross each one off when you've checked it.
  18. I understand your pain man I bought a new Trust oil pump for my GTR build off a member on here got it built in the car and running when i had oil problems. sent new turbos back to be inspected and put restrictors in the turbo oil feeds before I realised the problem (115psi at idle and 150psi at 2000rpm). Had to pull the engine back out and took it back to the builder to get it checked cause we thought the relief valve might be jammed. Turns out it is either a knock off copy or its been fiddled with. The relief spring was too long and hit on the bung before opening fully and it also had what appears to be a stock RB25 spring. No recourse I PM'd the seller no reply. Unfortunately there's not much you can do except move on. The last thing you wanna do is waste more time and energy to get no where with this guy. It's sad that people are dishonest and it doesn't instill much faith in mankind but at the end of the day the same thing could've and I'm sure has happend on many occasions with cars imported from japan. Just lucky you didn't go ahead with the original plan and end up with an engine worth $0.
  19. Brand for paint depends on how much you want to spend/how good you want it to look. Any good painter can get it looking 100% with most half decent paints but the more you spend on paint the better/longer it will last. With some of the cheaper paints the clearcoat will pinch back/dull off after even a short while so if you only want to do it once do it right. Who are you geting to paint it cause every painter will have their own preference on which paint they use but as a guide I'd look for someone who uses Glasurit, Spies Hecker or Standox. There are other good brands but they would be my pick. If your taking it to a shop find a reputable place that you know someone has used in the past and try and check out some of their work that they did 3-6 months ago and see what sort of condition its in now. PM me if you want some more info man I'm a qualified spraypainter and happy to help out with any Q's.
  20. Spotted a nice pearl white 32 going for a nice Sunday drive along the Cygnet Coast Road this arvo. Sounded mega tough.
  21. Wow looking really good man glad to see you have pulled this out of retirement and are giving it the attention it deserves. Reminds me alot of my car in the first few photos also has a bit in common in that it sounds like weve both driven them about the same amount lol. Good luck with the build and I'll be keeping a close eye on it.
  22. Nice work man. Congrats on owning another fine example of the legendary R32 GTR. Good to see quite a few on here at the moment getting the attention they deserve. Also need engine bay shot.

    Damn Hot Huh?

We've got 5 major fires that are still pretty big and 40+ smaller fires around the state. Almost every brigade around the state has been sending crews out to the major fires over the last few days and nights and will be for many more yet. I went out yesterday to the Forcett fire on the Tasman Penninsula and I'm going again Wednesday and all I can say is man its a sad sight. We had a de-brief at Dodges Ferry and then headed out to Murdunna and for 40kms it's just black both sides of the road as far as you can see. We then had to head down to Taranna that arvo which is just shy of Port Arthur and same thing just absolute devastation. It's very suprising and greatly relieving that there hasn't been countless lives lost especially at this time of the year with it being right over the holiday period and the area's being tourist and holiday hotspots but when you drive through and see just how much area this has burnt it's quite amazing that hopefully no one has been killed. And just a big thanks to all the firefighters, volunteers and the community for their efforts because without them so much more would have been lost. If you want more info go to the TFS Website- http://www.fire.tas.gov.au/Show?pageId=colCurrentBushfires
