  1. 'Mongo BBQ sounds great. I might be able to make it tis time The only problem is parking & late night shopping, but it should not be too bad at 7:30pm:matrix:
  2. Now once the car has 3,000+km on it go to your local XR6 Turbo tuning house and ask for one custom tuned edit box. $1,600 later you will have a handheld box that can upload 250rwkw in 2 mins on a completly stock car. I hope you get a good one, make sure you inspect it with a microscope and also test drive it before you accept delivery as the quality varies.
  3. Import duties and GST is just a fact of life now. Since the Internet and eBay have become more popular the Oz Customs have started looking at everything coming into the country. Some eBay sellers say they will mark the item as a "gift" to try to avoid duty/GST but htis no longer works. Every parcel is logged into the Customs system and if they see the same person sending "Gifts" to heaps of people the scam is stopped very quickly. I recently purchased a Digital SLR camera. Asfter checking eBay and many online overseas sites I thought it was best to buy local. The difference in prices was AU$100 more from the shop than if I got it overseas. All the feedback from the eBay buyers said they were being hit with GST/Duties and it would have costed the same to buy locally. I got a good deal for the Camera and I am happy with the price with no hassels attached. What you have learn't I think is that local sellers in Oz are not always a ripoff. They have proper businesses that must pay GST and their overheads, this is why they charge more. Next time you will be wiser and know that 10% GST + 10% Duty is payable for items imported from Japan. There is no way to avoid it, you must pay, it's not the sellers fault.
  4. That SUX, but you do not want to get the plates remade as they will always come up as STOLEN under the police system. I had one plate stolen many years ago and a cop mate warned me against remaking the plate as you will be pulled over with a guns out stop. This is something I would never want as cops pointing guns at me is not my idea of fun.
  5. Yeah, it might be a Ford, but it is also brand new and has a factory warranty. While it is no GTR or Skyline, you guys are gonna want something that is a six cyl turbo in the near future and I bet a XR6T will be the top of the shopping list, I was so impressed I bought one. $1500 in mods and I have a 12sec car that can carry 5 adults and their luggage:whatsthat
  6. Must be school holidays again....looks like the kiddies are out to stroke their egos:whackit:
  7. Sorry Habib, this is NOT the case. The cops identified you on the night and you WILL receive a summons to go to court. This can take up to 6 weeks, they can summons you within a 12 month period. Also I would not drive again until this matter is cleared up and you have your license back, if you get caught again, it will be a minimum of 3 years ban, up to 10 years and possible jail time. Do not think this is a light offence, it is not and you will be fined and loose your license for 12+months. I strongly suggest once you get the summons, that you get a good solicitor and make sure you are in a suite when you front court. If you go in there with a smart arse attitude, the Magistrate will bend you over and give you the max. Please try to learn from this incident and try to become a better human
  8. Being a member of both forums, I agree that that thread is full of posts from people who suffer from NFI. The stock XR6Turbo will do a 13.8>14.1 depending on the transmission type. Ther eis no need for a war as I am sure that thread wlll be closed as it is embarresing
  9. I think if your mates mum took it to court and put on the hard luck story to the magistrate she may get a reduction. It does suck, but I bet she has pi$$ed of some cop in the past
  10. I would expect a min of 12 months ban +$1500+ fine. I think the max is 3 years on the first offence, oh and you will also start your red P's from the begining.
  11. I can assure you all that the boy WILL be a car nut. He is feeding well and everything is good:) . Richard I am not going to get a 4Door just yet as it will cost me way too much to get out of the Ford, now while I have permission to do it, I would rather get a dedicated racecar as it would be more practical.
  12. Thanks all for your kind words. I do not think there is a better thing than to have a child of your own. I will catch up with you all at next months dinner.
  13. I would like to announce the arrival of our Son Brady Jack who arrived at 7:09 this morning by cesar. He is a big boy, 9.9lb (4.34kg), 58cm long and a 37.5cm head. Mum and bub are doing fine Im going to bed, been a long day/night/day
  14. Thanks all for a great dinner. Chelle and I had a great night, it was good to catchup and have a great feed.
  15. Pete, I will be there. Its in my calander and I have the tyres on the rims ready for sacrifice to the smoke gods. BRING IT ON
  16. I do not think we need to book as there are heaps of large tables that will suite our needs. I am planning to get there about 7pm to get a good table. Just look for the big guy (6'5" 140kg) and a VERY preganant wife. Parking can be a bit trick, but I seem to never have a problem, as the clearway will be over and there are many side streets to park. There is also the church across the road that has always got a spot.
  17. Me and the Wife may be there as the baby still has not arrived (being induced on Friday night) So put us down for a tentative 2, we WILL be there if there if she does not go into labour before Friday.
  18. Ali, While I think your comments are based on some experience, the Cops can and will search you if they wish. The NSW government passed a sneaky knife law 2 years ago that allow police to search for knives without reason. This is a total violation of our civil rights, but the law exists. The Cops use this law to find knives on suspects(anyone), and if they find anything else then bad luck. I think that what police are doing to "lebs and imports" is only a knee jerk reaction to public and media pressure. On TV we see young P platers in import cars spashed all over the news involved in serious accidents, caused by speeding in powerful cars. We also see gangs of ethnic youths driving imports and acting like tools, by street racing and causing trouble. The Police are only doing what they are told to do. Cops are told by senior command that "hoons", "Lebs" and import drivers are targets and to keep the pressure on. Now while there are many innocent import drivers being harrassed and defected, I bet that the police pressure is starting to work. If you know your car is defectable, you either fix it or accept the defect knowing you are a target. My bet is many people are fixing their defects now to avoid the stories we read on here every day. I also think that they bad PR the Lebanease community are receiveing will also cause pressure to be put on these "bad lebs" from their peers and famlies to stop being d!ckheads. Because at the end of the day the cops will win. They will not let up until the public side of their antics cease and the cops find their next big issue.:flamed:
  19. Soft:rant: , I had the tyres on the rims and got 250rwkw ready for tomorrow. I was really looking forward to it...... Have a great time and B safe:headspin:
  20. Pete, I will be a no show as the baby has not arrived yet:mad: . The wife is 40 weeks +1 day and she said that I could go ONLY if the baby had arrived.... I guess there is always next time
  21. Shonen It's Yuppie pub food, heaps of selection, you do not have to cook your own, and they do seafood, salads and pasta:wassup:
  22. I vote for the Great Northern as I do not want to try to drive down south for bad parking, bad service and waiting for a table. Also most of the regulars are northsiders (or inner west) so its best to keep it fairly local.
  23. I am getting work done on the car on Thursday and Friday so I will give it a miss and go to the track on the 21st.
  24. If I had my way, we would go to the Thai near Duncan and Kel's place. Good parking and cheap, with a bottle shop next door with the super chiller:cheers:
  25. When we choose the dinner of the month we need to consider: 1. Parking, needs to be pleanty and safe 2. Food needs to be good and must be able to cater for our group size (2-30 people) 3. Price, its not fair for some to go to places like R+R often as it is a $60 pp without drinks. The Kaiser Stubahan is also Exey (was there on tuesday) 4. Needs to be close to the main group of people going ( Northside) 5. Cannot be too close to a shopping center as its Thursday nights and all the shopping moms are out to dent our cars There are so many places on the Northshore that we can go to.
