  1. 9.5+12 will stick out a mile on the front, where a 9.5+22 will fit under with a 245 wide tyre with some minor guard rolling. A 9.5+12 would probably be just about spot on for the rear; might still want the lips rolled lightly. Even the +22 looks bloody good, and having all four the same offset means you can rotate wheels easily.
  2. I have never seen a transmission fail because the oil was being cooled too much. You don't have to do it; no one has a gun to your head.
  3. I doubt that they'd ever know; a front end, or front 3/4 impact would write the car off anyway; cut REO or uncut REO. I would be boxing the cut away section, to win back some rigidity; the REO is what locates the chassis rails, and absorbs suspension loads.
  4. Does the SuperPro front bar have lateral locks on it, to stop it sliding sideways? Don't forget that there are effectively 2 ball joints in each of the front swaybar links; if these are worn (and it will be quite difficult to tell) an increase in roll stiffness will make them quite noisy. The good thing is; they only cost around $120 to replace the pair.
  5. Yeah Carsales; I can't stand dealing with the droids on Gumtree.
  6. Pfft; 'sif not Flintsones to work... Seriously though, I just bought a low km (105k) 03 Mazda 323 for $4k; it's to replace our 99 model with 265,000km. Reliable, cheap on fuel and cheap for parts. There's tonnes around; I had the choice of about 5 within 30km from home, you can't really go wrong.
  7. Lol, them wiring feels...
  8. Shift kit, and a large external transmission cooler. Brake cut mid is really nice, and a full dump to tip 3" exhaust. Those 4 would be my start point; work your way up from there.
  9. Well done, and good luck! Interested to hear how it all goes!
  10. A couple of nutserts into the reo; and some tube or spacers to get you clear of the bumper cover. Job's a good 'un.
  11. I guess the advantage with the NM35 over the C34 for fuel is that we have an almost 80l tank versus 65 in the C34 from memory? FWIW; the most fuel I've ever put in my NM35 is 78L. Light throttle cruise in the NM35 can return extremely good fuel economy; I'm doing 600+km on 70 litres of fuel just commuting; I reckon you could go to 700km per tank without any trouble. I think 95 is pretty easily available in remote locations; the car won't die if it doesn't have 98.
  12. Honestly, I'd make up a lightbar mount that bolts behind the numberplate, and positions the bar just below the grille. Use a nice weather sealed plug (buy 2 and use the 2nd as a sealed blanking plug); and you can quickly & easily unbolt & remove if you want to remove the ugliness.
  13. I'm sure someone else was talking about this exact same thing a while back... Oh wait; IT WAS ME! Really glad you've seen an improvement in your response Matt; you must be wrapped after all the effort you've put in.
  14. One of mine popped as I started the car one morning; another went at about 2500rpm.
  15. I had a brand new Nissan one fail within 2 months on a stock intake; and an aftermarket one lasted more than 2 years on a modified intake. My airbox is very firmly mounted; so whilst not discounting your theory, I think it's a bit of a red herring. People have postulated that using oiled cotton air filters will guarantee failure; I've had no issue even after extended periods using them, and i know of plenty of AFM failures using OEM style paper filters.
  16. His wife isn't going to like that...
  17. The problem is; the controllers can't actually open the throttle from a standstill any faster than standard, so all you get is a weird, jerky oversensitive throttle when you're cruising, with a shiteload of lag off mark...
  18. Brake cut mod is still useful, but the throttle response is much more aggressive and linear. What you put in at the pedal; you receive instantly at the TB; not a version of it; some days/weeks later...
  19. No throttle delay/restriction. Worth it; for that ALONE.
  20. I would say there will be some financial compensation paid in the US, where the cars emissions were non-compliant, but as you rightly say; our emissions are not as stringent, so the cars were unlikely to be non compliant. In any case, I'd expect it to be much like the Dow Corning class-action regarding faulty Breast Implants; Affected parties in the US received massive settlements, but Women in the same position in Australia were give peanuts in comparison. Successfully turns discussion about diesels into conversation about perky bewbs.
  21. The thing here is; I think we're confusing "fuel economy" and "emissions" Very few people I would surmise go out looking for the car with the lowest emissions, but I'm confident that most would definitely be looking at fuel economy. The issue with VW was not one of fuel economy; as this is EASILY verifiable in a manifold number of ways by the end user. The issue with VW was that they claimed a certain CO value in the emissions test. CO value could easily be elevated, yet not have any effect on fuel economy, nor be noticeable to the end user, as you have no way of measuring the CO value. This is further evidenced by the fact that it was a an ongoing and repeated breach; because until a bunch of Uni Graduates actually TESTED the vehicle, no one had noticed that the car behaved differently whilst being tested to when it was used in "real world" conditions. People aren't claiming that the car used excessive amounts of fuel, because it wasn't. They are claiming because VW broke the law; that they should be financially compensated. The only thing that changed is the effect on the environment; and it would be an unbelievably long bow to draw if you were claiming that therefore you were directly affected by that change to the environment. These people will join a class action because they care about getting free money, not because they are worried about the effects on the environment. And if they are truly concerned for the environment, all money recovered should be applied directly to offsetting the damage to the environment; not given to the owners of the cars.
  22. Meh, I'm sick of people suing because of hurt feelings. If the car actually hurt you, or the emissions actually made you sick, and you can prove it; go for it. If you've lost resale, and it's quantifiable; go for it. But if it's because your feelings are hurt because some polar bears have smaller icebergs, and you can't sleep because you're up all night worrying; you probably need to have a reality check, and realise that you're actually a moneygrubbing sook. People see an opportunity to manufacture a sense of offense for profit, and they can't wait to be a part of it. If however; you're going to give any monies paid to you to a conservation foundation or renewable energy fund to mitigate your melted polar bear habitiat stomach ulcer; go for it.
  23. This makes my pants happy.
  24. I reckon the colour of those seats suits the car very well Josh; just get the rears done to match. It's a factory colour, not something random, I'll bet a decent trimmer will be able to match the hide.
