Turbo X-trail
StealthX replied to StealthX's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
I've found a set of 18 x 8.5 brand new with tyres of my choice for $2050 http://www.tech9tyres.com.au/index.php/whe...rift_tek_black/ They're probably copies, but I couldn't care less. Could be, but i doubt a wheel and tyre place would sell fakes and market them as real. They couldn't get away with it. I plan on paying more for decent tyres anyway so i dunno how much just yet... -

Yeah man no kidding! Andrew assures me its a safe tune and its gonna be good for engine logevity, but I'd still love for it to be cleaned up. 11.8 down to 11.5 on redline would be very nice. I'm going lean @13psi cos of a fuel pressure problem, I'm in the process of researching options for a returnless but still boost referenced fuel system. The injectors and pump are fine, its the stock FPR/regulation thingo that its causing the troubles... Thanks for the comments! Off topic, changed my opinion on wheels, I've found a decent place in Perth (Tech9 Tyres) that sell BLACK DRIFT TEKS! I don't give a crap if they're fake, they have the Koya brand name on them and they seem legit! 18" x 8.5" Drift Teks it is!! Can't wait (just need more funds ) -
That's pretty expensive for only 250cc more mate. Keep in mind you could pick up a blown rb26 for less than 2k and use that crank and those rods with some custom pistons for 400cc more... Not to mention you could sell off the rest of the RB for some decent coin... Have a look in the forsale section, I've seen a few broken 26s for sale... That stroker is a waste of money IMO, considering $5.5k = +250cc, or less than $2k can equal +400cc... [edit] just saw that $5.5k is for a conplete engine package, my bad! That seems like a half decent engine package then! Personally I'd prefer more CCs if I was gonna go to all the extent of a stroker motor.

The beauty of RB engines is most of the parts are interchangable! IIRC you can use an 26 crank and 26/25 rods to displace about 2.4L... Read about it here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Pr...tml&hl=Rb24 however it would be heaps easier to fit an RB25/26... Apart from purely being different, I don't know why you'd bother with the RB24... Sounds like a cool project. Good luck dude.

The turbosmart controller uses a ball and spring gated system that can cause boost spikes, its designed to bring on boost faster for more response. It says in the instruction manual that you can remove the gate system for more direct boost control. Unscrew the nipple on the side leading to the boost source (i.e. the nipple that DOESN'T go to the wastegate, and piss off that ball and spring thingo. Did the trick for my mate who I installed one for...

Did I mention my next plan was to slam it with coilovers?? I found coilys to suit my car! $2k brand new Thanks mate! i agree with the low profile looking weird, but I think 18s slammed with 50 series profile would still look good I reckon! -
Hey forum. Just after some input into my rim selection in regards to good fitment. Stock wheels are 16'"x6.5 and the stock tyre is 215/65/r16. Stock offset is +40 I'm tossing up between two options here; 1) Axis Suprehiro 19"x8.5" +45 with 245/45/r18 2) Starcorp Impul 18"x8.5" +45 with 245/55/r19 They are going on this car: (thanks to rhys for the pic.) Obviously the axis wheels (the 19s) will have a smaller tyre and look more 'sporty', and the starcorps (18s) will have more tyre and look more 'stock'. Just confused on which wheels to get, I want a tyre profile that will look decent (i.e. not too much tyre), but still be legal and not attract too much attention, the piggies might say the profile (45% for the 19"s isn't suitable for a 4WD. Then I'll be f**ked, cos I'll have to go over the pits, my turbo kit isn't engineered just yet! Plus from the looks department, i like the lip/dish of the starcorps! the axis' are a tad boring bar the pinstripe I might add that the load ratings for both sets of wheels and tyres are suitable for my car and the rolling diameter isn't changing by more than 4mm. Plus the offset is only changing by +5 so they wheels will only be 7.5cm closer to the guards. (5cm for more offset, and 2 inches wider.) Advice/comments/preferences? Thanks.

Yeah auto = Greddy e-manage. but wire it in so the e-manage is taking full control of the injectors, as opposed to running as a piggyback.

Eoi: R33 Gts-t Standard Turbo
StealthX replied to SAM916's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
If by 'go on' my sr, you mean work, yes, but there's no way it would be a bolt on job. and lol, do you have an RB20, or an SR20? p.s. turbo of this size would be a decent enough upgrade on a 2.0L! -
R33 Skyline (very Shmik) $18 Or Swap
StealthX replied to MR_BLING's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
ohhh god... What have you done to that poor car! what were you thinking with those wheels??? AND $18k??? pffffttt are you madd?? -
Hey mate, just to clarify, the rb20e never came in the commodore that was delivered in aus, only the ones sold in new Zealand... Not sure about the ceffy though, pretty sure they are in those as you say. No idea where you'd find an exhaust manifold, are there any jap wreckers near where you are located? They should be able to source one, failing that you could try faithful old eBay, last resort is a custom made one. But honestly man, I'm gonna join the crew and suggest a better engine. You are way better off doing an rb25det conversion for so many reasons. 1) the rb20e can't be that strong in NA form, so I doubt you'll be able to push it far in terms of power, and 2) you won't have much to Show for your money afterwards anyway, a dead stock 25det is probably gonna have more power that you could extract from the 20e... But that thread that Martin suggested has a heap of info, well worth the read... Good luck brother!

I thought pumping the accelerator did nothing in EFI cars? It shouldn't make a difference when you're cranking the engine over...

Haha just stirring ya! But I'm serious about the driving style thing! These cars can be dangerous when in the wrong hands/feet. You do quotes by pressing the speech bubble looking button just above where you type, then enter in what you want to be quoted. Or you can press quote on the bottom right side of soneones post, and that'll directly quote their post. I reckon get yourself a nice r32, for what you pay for, you end up getting more car IMO. Silvias are good but they are smaller and less of a car than a 'line... Either way they are a nice balanced chassis, throw a decent turbo powerplant (rb, sr, worked ca), and they really become a drivers car and are a lot of fun! Enjoy!!!
-
Cool, you've got your fix of attention. now get on with it. Don't bother importing an s13 or r32, especially if you're learning... Buy one already here, there's plenty around. lol No offense Jade, but if you're suggesting that "good" driving involves burning through tyres, WHILE STILL LEARNING TO DRIVE, don't buy an import, cos it's driving/stupid sh!t like that, that gets us all the unwanted attention from cops and media. Plus its pretty easy to kill yourself in a car like you've suggested.

shorter springs and a camber kit. or coilovers. depends what you wanna spend...

Fark, that sorta speed in a car like that would be sickly insane. Ever since my mate built one, it's bin my dream to have a 450+ hp rb26/30 in a gq/gu patrol, and all the goodies, yummy exhaust and a screamer I'll do it one day... Watch this space haha

f**k yeah... I love the powerband from my 2860 on my 2.5l... Solid 200awkw with 13psi. 4cyl though... Full boost by <1500
