FS: 2000 N16 Pulsar Sedan - Turbo (QG18DE+T) - NSW Item: Dec 2000 built N16 sedan ST, 1.8L manual with a +T turbo conversion Location: Central Coast NSW Website: Carsales , other forums. Item Condition: Very good Reason for selling: Have a new project Price and price conditions: $11,000 ono. Extra Info: I've owned the car since it was around 18 months old, stock standard and I've put all bar 10-15k of the km's on it. It is always garaged and you can see it in the condition of the car. Engineered in NSW Has 126k on it Has May 2010 rego Has a long list of modifications including aftermarket sound system, bodykit, mags, lowered suspension, rear sway bar and front strut brace, turbo conversion putting out 140kw at the fronts from a TD04L @ 10 psi, decompressed engine to approx 8.2:1, upgraded clutch. Has recently had the head gasket replaced and the engine inspected, cleaned and decompressed. I've got receipts for most of the work and I've spent much more than what I'm asking on modifications alone. The car has never been listed as a write off and hasn't been in any accidents since I've had it. There's no evidence or any accident or hail damage prior to my purchase. The car drives well and needs no work done, just buy and enjoy it. It's a very responsive car and lots of fun. There aren't many cars around offering the mix of performance, condition and age in the same price range. It will be missed but I don't need 2 cars for the small amount of driving im doing these days. It will pass any mechanic's inspection and i'm happy to have it looked at by your mechanic if its not rediculously far away and obviously it's at your cost. If you want any more information PM me or check the car out on carsales and send me an enquiry through there if you don't have enough posts to send a PM. SWAPS: I would prefer cash but I will consider some swaps if its something suitable for a track car. I don't want it if its auto, NA, in poor condition, front wheel drive, commodore/falcon, s13 silvia, onevia/sil80/any other car that started life as 2 cars. Models i would consider would be 180sx, s14, r32, r33, FC RX7. The car would need to be worth a similar amount of cash or you'd need to be prepared to make up the difference in cash. I've already dropped the price and I think it's at a reasonable level so if you're thinking about offering me a direct swap on something worth 7k don't bother.

Fair enough man, after seeing you mention wrx's as well i figure it was worth a shot. Good luck with your search. And someone mentioned gtir - theyre awd pulsars with the sr20det.
-
BASHO - if you're open to front wheel drive I've got a 2000 model pulsar with a turbo conversion that I'm selling. I've got 11k on it and its in a hell of a lot better condition than some of the cars you seem to have looked at. Unless you're into drifting it might be worth a look. Carsales link

Thanks. It looks like rob_o will be dual entering in my xr6t instead of his cressida then. Both of the forms have already been submitted though. I'll bring it up in scrutineering. N1GTR - can you check your PM's, i sent you one the other day about SAU NSW membership
-
Whats the go with dual entering a car if we can do it? It looks like a mates car won't be ready and I'm happy for him to hve a go in mine but i dont really want us both to have half as many runs as everyone else. Is there anything organisers can do in that situation?

A Career In The Automotive Industrie.
gregor replied to alex182's topic in General Automotive Discussion
To add on from what Birds said - every time i see this discussion it usually ends in a mechanic reminding the OP that most mechanical work is done on cars with ignorant owners who don't give a crap about them. Even if you want to open your own shop chances are you'll do the hard yards early on doing general work for people likely to kill your passion for the industry. good luck with it. If you're looking for apprenticeships think plumber, sparkie, etc.. those trades can be a license to print cash if you are good at what you do. -

caltex is rolling out e85 over the next 6-12 months so it should be much more common in the near future. -
Question For Qualified Computer Person
gregor replied to MSTRshenanigans's topic in PC & Games Discussion
If its not going to be moved and you don't have high end demands I'd go for the desktop. Only because if a laptop is out of warranty as someone else has said if something goes wrong with the hardware its usually not cost effective to repair - even if you are a techie and are doing the labour yourself. Most things are on board and due to the tight spaces you're pretty much stuck with manufacturer sourced spares. It's also a lot easier for someone with a bit of technical knowledge to pull apart and fix a PC, with a laptop if you dont know what you're doing there is a higher chance of stuffing up (breaking plastic trims, missing or using the wrong screws in the wrong spot etc..). With prices the way they are though I'd go for a laptop with a 3 year warranty, you can get something that will keep most people happy for about 1k with the warranty if you look around. Even if you only move it around occaisionally its handy to have. -
paid and faxed. Let me know when it goes through, thanks. Been looking forward to this since the last one.

tony - building boost off the line helps in an auto but the other factor is the box itself. The 6 speed auto is way ahead of the average auto 'slush box', I'm a big manual fan so for me to actually buy an auto it had to be damn good. I dont think its much of a call to say that its one of if not the best auto in a reasonably priced (under 90k) performance car. The 4 speeds that run decent times have usually been rebuilt and had a different stall converter installed.
-
This will be my last post on this cos I dont want to hijack the thread any more. Mod for mod the auto (either 4 or 6 speed) is significantly faster than the manual 5 or 6 speed boxes. With the amount of guys that have tried i highly doubt its because of the driver, but you're welcome to join the forums and try to tell the guys over there that if you think you are right. The 6 speed auto is pretty tricky to get a higher stall converter working in so the 4 speed actually stacks up well with a high stall. From a roll the 6 speed stands out much more. If you want to continue this via PM thts fine but i suggest you do a bit more reading on the fords before trying to correct someone who has done all the reading. I'm not on here trying to correct you about skyline performance.

actually manual xr6t's are consistently slower than the auto ones with equivalent power regardless of the driver, its common knowledge over on the xr forums. It takes a hell of a lot more power to get them down in the same time. Benefits including not dropping off boost, more favourable gear ratios, easier to launch all make them up to a full second ahead over an equivalent manual. The cost to get a manual into the low 11s is waaaaaay more (5 figures territory) than getting a 6 speed auto to the same point which is relatively cheap. But thats a bit of a tangent from this topic anyway. I'd love to do a high RPM awd launch like a GTR can

This is an old reply but anyway.. I drive a stock xr6 turbo, its an auto so its faster than a manual. I cleaned up a stock supra tt on his best run and I ran a 13.8. Without a lot of work i don't see an NA supra beating an F6 which should be faster. Even an manual should run a similar time to mine.

Please note i'm not affiliated with this guy and I don't care if you buy anything from him, but hopefully this helps someone on a budget. I picked up a good deal on some semi slicks from SAU NSW so I'm paying back the favour. I put his email in a previous post so email or join the xr6 forum if you want one. So you dont have to join the xr6t forums here is his post (Note they are universal items not XR specific, they are unflanged):

I'm not selling anything, just trying to help a bloke out. Send the guy an email if you're after more info. I think they are unbranded cats, universal applications and they dont come with flanges, but they are 5" body 100 CPI. The seller can give you more info if needed. They aren't mirror polished like other ones but if you aren't going to be putting mirrors under your car autosalon spec then it shouldnt matter.
-
You can get 3 or 3.5" inlets and its a 5 inch body, they are unpolished but stainless steel. I'm a member on there so maybe thats why you can't see it but just email him at the address i listed or join the forum and the link above should work. Chris runs rapid systems, one of the xr6 forum sponsors and he usually gives pretty quick responses.
-
my link was for one unflanged - $170.

If a criminal enters your home they are blatantly violating your rights and you don't know if they're petty thieves or completely mental. IMO as soon as they enter someone elses home illegally they should forfeit all of their rights. No option to sue for anything, no penalties for owners giving them a beating and maybe some of the deadsh!ts would learn a lesson or think twice before acting again.
-
I think this is about the cheapest you'll find one: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/100Cpi-R...598#entry986598 If you dont want to join the forum you can email chris on [email protected] Oh and standard xr6t cats usually get swapped out between 270 and 300rwkw. I wouldnt try to push much more through them.
-
their figures to mods seem to stack up with the expected output on the xr6t forums and mph to mods always seems good. There are other tuners on there that seem to read higher with their roller dynos. So i'd say it seems pretty accurate but with any of these things I guess how you set them up has a lot to do with it.
-
I'm getting them to do the work and tuning on my xr6 turbo when I'm ready later this year, they have an excellent reputation - one of the few i havent heard anything bad about. I got a service done by them after I got the car and I was shocked when they called me and said we can do this, this, etc and spend a lot of cash but its only because they were so thorough and they told me what i needed and what I could always do later. Never had that anywhere else. They're not the cheapest shop around but for those guys who are more interested in quality and service it's well worth dropping by to check out the place.

Did you get any more of my xr6? was hoping you might have got an action shot but i guess you cant be everywhere at once.
