  1. I agree Dale but many oem turbo's have this issue. The amount of XR6 GT35's I have heard of that have failed due to the oil feed filter blocking up, as long as its cleaned occasionally there is no issue. The problem with ours is it only takes a little gunge to block it.
  2. I agree Paul, I wouldn't be drilling it out too much unless you go to a bush core highflow. Just run a 1mm drill bit through the banjo bolt to clean it up. It is the thin oil line to the block, just in front of the passenger driveshaft output.
  3. The Varex valve is a restriction when closed, there is a bypass into the muffler that flows around the valve giving near oem sound levels, even with only a single muffler. You can have the valve anywhere in its travel for adjustable sound levels using the supplied remote fob. When open its a straight through muffler, up to 3.5 inch. http://www.xforce.com.au/about-varex-remote-control-sports-muffler.php
  4. If the turbo dies there is a good chance the oil feed restrictor banjo bolt is blocked (or lack of servicing over in Japan) causing the rear bearing to fail. My dump pipe is a stainless bellmouth, it comes ceramic heat wrapped and includes the o2 bung, lower gasket and lower stainless bolts. It will also bolt up to the factory exhaust. I can do one for $450.
  5. He probably got defected again.
  6. I assume the bcm controls the power to the motor, you would need to find the power wire to the switch on the drivers side, run it to a relay and wire that to the other doors.
  7. Of course theres a restriction, theres no way a 3.5 inch straight through will be quiet without one. I think it would be a great setup if you could hook it up to the ecu for load actuation, or apparently there is an addon Xforce sell that automatically actuates the valve on engine revs also. (similar to what Ferrari etc use) My question to you is, can you guarentee a customer the Hooker system is quiet enough to not get dicked? They are built for the "note" V8 guys want, just like Magnaflow mufflers and unfortunately that makes them too loud in most cases.
  8. Its not like the cat glows red hot at idle, on the dyno sure but there's no way an infra-red temp gun would pick up much difference on the side of the road. I have heard stories of cops sliding fiberglass rods up the exhaust to check the core is still in place but they couldnt fine you as it may have just fallen out. I made 230kw on a rubbish 2.5 inch dump and small ceramic cat. (although that was on e85) Im sure a large body ceramic cat would flow what the OP wants it to. I would just fit a $150 100cpsi metal cat.
  9. I have seen plenty of cracked turbo housings, its fairly common on the xr6 gt35 rears and usually around the wastegate. I doubt it would cause you problems but I wouldn't want it inside my turbo.
  10. The tune goes out Blake? Have you actually seen it happen? From the cars I have fitted them to with widebands, the tune is fine. Obviously the boost is lower and top end power is down. I will test the 3.5 inch system out on the dyno to see the power loss firsthand and any tune related issues that might arise. Just being able to quieten a 3.5 straight system to near oem levels impressed me enough to give them a go.
  11. Best mufflers do the 3.5 inch Varex for around $400. Haven't done a hooker, mainly because the stainless ones are hard to find cheap. They aren't a straight through so not sure how they will flow either. The design looks good though, I would like to try it one day. Good mufflers are hard to find, especially large bore ones.
  12. I have the OEM mat, it isn't that great as all the crap slides around in the back now. Im sure there is a better material to make it out of, even plain rubber would work better as Josh said. Great for taking the dog for a drive though.
  13. That makes much more sense, other than the fact the radiator is used to get the trans fluid up to operating temp quickly.
  14. I have the full Re5 manual at home, there is definitely a cooler valve so it must turn off sometimes.
  15. That "team" was the mob that built my auto, Kewish auto. I didn't doubt them originally as in manual the torque converter is always locked, therefore not flaring causing excess heat. Now I believe they arent right but I havent bothered checking. Mine could be working in manual mode due to cutting the converter lockup solenoid wiring so best if you guys check.
  16. Yes
  17. I could do just the 80mm pipe for $150 but to include all the silicone joiners, clamps and hoses for bov and breather, with machined fittings on the intake, all for $250 as a bolt on kit seemed reasonable to me...
  18. I have been installing quite a few Varex mufflers lately with the sound control valve. I was impressed enough to buy the 3.5 inch muffler for my own car with a 3.5/5 inch mid muffler. Quiet at the press of a button.
  19. Cam seems to think it does, perhaps we could get a few people to test by driving in manual and carefully checking the temp the trans cooler gets to? If its not ccoling I would be surprised. I drive in manual constantly so I will try and check sometime too.
  20. Perhaps the solenoid is stuck open a little? Try blowing through it. I seem to remember you need to swap ports on the solenoid too, to normally open. I run a 1 bar spring using both wastegate ports, and run 30psi in the midrange but it still drops to 25psi by the top.
  21. I have a few sheets here if you need them, I have tried a few different heat shield materials and this 3M sheet is the best by far. $30 a sheet for around A4 size, a little cheaper if I get a bulk buy.
  22. Damn right the auto sucks a heap of power, probably around 30KW off the final power figure I would guess. Did you run in 4th also? That gear must run out to some very high speeds and lower the output a little. Don't worry guys, you will catch up one day...
  23. Further to that Leon, the torque figures the dyno spits out are usually ignored as not measured correctly, yet this is what gets our weighty cars moving quickly. I would be interested to see the trap speed of Alex's car now. I was hoping the Fcon would have some sort of adjustment for the auto but it doesn't seem to Alex. You are right though, without the software to adjust all this we are playing in the kiddie pool.
