  1. Housemate did it with Nistune with Trent - Very very good on his SR I did mine there but my 98 tune was more of a "emergency use only with a bit of spirited driving", but even then it needed a lot of touch ups, hence the whole "it takes a shitload of time to get right" Cars will run well on non-optimal settings though, Birds saying dat power FC swap after half/3/4 of a tank of E85? makes me really uncomfortable but I'm a stickler for that kind of thing as well, I break all the things
  2. Was curious mainly cause my engine exploded, and I know yours kind of did, and kind of went back, and kind of has issues, so I have a vested interest in your car also working right Getting flex fuel right though, man... requires mastery and a lot of patience, or a f**k load of money paying a tuner to have a lot of time to spend on it

  4. As someone with a sedan, looking for a decent seat in the future.... please keep posting cause this is super useful
  5. I have never had a pinging issue, ever, fyi I don't need det to smash engines to pieces for no reason, I have transcended traditional problems
  6. My R34 has had issues with fuel filters before. Changed to an Earls and changed that when it became blocked, but I noticed this by the car running lean under power, which coincidentally was about the same amount of power you have All it took for me was to run one tank of 98 and switching back to E85 to see my filter full of stuff. Pretty much want to change it any time I do an oil change now, I would lose my mind if I didn't have a wideband that will cut the engine if the event of a lean condition as I'm super paranoid about fuel filters now.
  7. Pretty sure the guy may be Ken M
  8. I'd wager gamers aren't quite the same as people watching TV or watching people live the life they can't or won't for some reason. Kind of like me and this forum I'd really like to go to Nationals but lol greg car
  9. would they?
  10. Spent entire yesterday removing shit to check torque on head studs. ARP specify 90ftlb.. Blueprint says 80.... Sad Then checked them...one was 80, some were over 90 and some were WAAAAAAAAAY less, like one full turn of torque wrench off. Sure is a good day for a drive today!
  11. The only scenario where it MAY be worth it, is as above, you wanted a 4 door 34 (for the shape?), cause R34 GTR is very pricey. But the smarts is go sailing with a R33 GTR if you can, its just seriously the better option for reasons you don't know until you're like "oh shit why did I f**king do this holy f**k" There's a lot of debate on these forums about how to approach a lot of different things When EVERYONE says "sell the car and buy the proper platform" then yeah they're doing it for a reason
  12. Neo from stagea. Expect headaches with tons of random shit. You are asking all the right questions, which means you will come to the conclusion that it is a bad choice. Walk away - get gtt for rwd with a fancy aftermarket traction control for grip, or go gtr. Path less travelled for a reason. Source: travelled the path
  13. I have highly disposed of my income
  14. It's always done it The cycle cannot be broken and my hard to read sentence is perfect! Looks to have spewed about 1L (after refilling the radiator after limping home) under some heavy driving. As to the "why?" or "how?" all signs that I can think of now point to something Engine'y
  15. Dat great weather, prime time to go and start enjoying a car... ..shame I blew the head gasket/cracked the block/lifted the head 7000kms after paying 12k+ to get the engine re-assembled last night! the cycle cannot be broken
  16. This is partly the reason I left my car there, sans engine. (and leave it at other places, too) If it gets in their way then they have to eventually put an engine in it See also: Car been off the road 2 weeks to get a radiator looked at because Greg™
  17. Did mine fine frankly, was very impressed by how they removed and installed shit. If you give them enough space and trust them, they come up with some really good shit. I.e, engineering a flex plate from nothing for an Automatic transmission to 'make it work' which was pretty f**king beyond anything you'd expect from an engine shop. I called MV< who had made a R34 flexplate in the past who flat out said "nah mate not again nope" and there was no one else to call to get one made. So they made one. Well, too. Before and after with the same engine and same setup was night and day. 10/10 would recommend even though my engine build was a five figure number and I supplied all the parts.
  18. The 2.3L Mustang would be an awesome car if people didn't think "aaargh its a mustang" Just add boost? The answer is clearly a 4L turbo engine
  19. Thus I have extensive experience in workshops that are shit, my friend also.... prob spent more than your Lexus
  20. Um Every suspension shop I have been to twice has done this, yes, all the good ones! Only one I have NOT had do this is Centerline cause lol, who would ever go to the west?
  21. Tbh my car fell apart with a GTX3076R which maxes out at 400rwkw (on manual) because it was too responsive. Having to set a rev limit at 5900 rpm is kind of lol. Would suspect same issue with GTSS-s and a RB30, but maybe not. You gotta give it a go, and the turbos are already with the car so f**kit why not? I had other issues relating to dat dere 14s pass
  22. I have a PS2000 but many of them have the feature, basically you can input criteria or safe operating ranges and if you exceed them you can have the engine respond. I.e cut all fuel, set a rev limit of 3k, pull timing, or any combination of them. In my case I have a wideband so it was a "Is my AFR leaner than 12.5 with boost higher than 1psi for longer than 1 second". Combined with auto logging if I'm above 70% throttle, it's pretty easy to determine through logs what happened and why. Can set it to trigger off oil pressure, fuel pressure, various temperatures, etc. Considering I was driving it just fine on that filter on E85 on many many dyno pulls, Deca day, Drag passes etc and this mysteriously started happening after I ran E85 after a tank or two of 98, AND had a clogged filter (replaced filter working fine now) then I can only hazard a guess that the swapping of fuels caused something to dislodge
  23. Got fresh engine, (i.e so no carbon anywhere) running on E85 for awhile since runin (10,000kms?) Put a tank or two of 98 in, to satisfy demons in case of evil e85 doing e85y things. Put E85 back in after sufficient demon-cleansing time ton of shit in fuel filter and car running lean under boost, thanks, Haltech engine protection! Knowing exactly 0 about 98/E85's cleansing properties, clearly the combination of the two either causes gunk, or flushes gunk in/out from somewhere, my filter was fine and my AFR's were fine until I put 98 through the car. Funny enough, was fine on 98 also, but obviously less fuel there as less is needed so a partial filter blockage may have had no effect.
